HT4914 iTunes Match help

I have iTunes installed on both my home and work computer. Will iTunes Match store music from both of these? I have different CD's uploaded on them both.

Yes, iTunes will scan the libraries on both computers. Tracks matched or uploaded on one machine will be available to download or stream on the other an vice versa.
It is a way to consolidate all your music on your computer at home by downloading the other tracks which are on your works computer. You need to check for duplicates.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match, find lost songs

I've lost my songs that I bought in iTunes on my iPhone, will iTunes Match help me get them back?

I guess the iTunes store is not recognizing your computer. Did you de-authorise your computer after you uploaded to iTunes Match. Did you register your new computer with a different User ID? Do you have Genius turned on (which needs to be on as it works in conjunction with iTunes Match. Did you authorise your new computer?
You paid for ITunes match & uploaded your songs using a different computer. So there are obviously one or more steps which need to be taken to download your media from the iCloud. Either someone else with more expertise than I can help you, for example, Limnos Limnos ; or King_Penguin King_Penguin or Chris_CA https://discussions.apple.com/people/Chris%20CA would probably be able to help you better than I.
    I don't work for Apple, I'm only a volunteer, if you can't get help from someone as mentioned above there's always Kappy (who is extremely busy) Kappy ;
then I would recommend going through the tried and true channel here > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Sorry I couldn't solve your problem myself. I'm about ready to retire from this game.
    Peace Out.

  • HT4914 I have made a mess of my music library in ITunes, will ITunes Match help?

I have many songs not labelled correctly or recorded using less than great quality in my Itunes library.  I'm wanting to know if I sign up for ITunes Match, how do I get the enhanced, properly labeled library loaded back into my Itunes once it has been in the cloud and presumably been replaced by the high quality of the Apple library versions with all the proper labelling?  In other words, the versions in my ITunes are substandard, if I get ITunes Match will the versions in my computer's Itunes be converted to the better version and if not how can I accomplish that?  Or does the better version only work when streaming from the cloud?
I went into an Apple store and no one there could figure out the answer to this.  They thought I might have to delete my entire library from my computer then restore from the cloud but no one was sure.  Is there a conclusive answer on the way to do this?  If it will work, it would be worth it to me to get the ITunes Match just to clean up my library.

    Michael,
If the CDs were ripped a few years ago using a space-economical setting, then chances are that 256 will indeed be an upgrade.
After you upgrade a few songs as onesie-twosies, and have verified that you are comfortable with the results, you can start doing larger batches.  But I certainly do not endorse any advice that begins like "Step 1: delete your entire library"!
Also, make sure to make a backup before you begin, so if anything goes amiss, you can retrieve your current copy.  Here is the official guidance from Apple Legal:
"iTunes Match is provided on an “AS IS” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data and/or information, including music, playlist, and play history, from your computer or device and from peripherals (including, without limitation, servers and other computers) connected thereto. You should back up all data and information on your computer or device and any peripherals prior to using iTunes Match. You expressly acknowledge and agree that all use of iTunes Match is at your sole risk."

  • ITunes Match Help Needed

I recently bought a new Macbook pro and i have a windows computer that had itunes match on it, i connected my ipad and synced it to my macbook but now i cant get itunes match is there a way i can change my itunes match from my other itunes onto this one? Not just adding it as one of my 10 devices.

Try turning itunes match off or stopping it.
Update genius and then restart itunes match.
that normally helps with the step one freezing process.
    store>turn itunes match off
store>update genuis(please allow genius to completely finish and you have to click the done button before moving on.)
    store>turn itunes match on
Yes, you want to add the device.
    Step one should proceed.

  • HT4914 iTunes Matching Songs WITHOUT Local Files

So my music collection is nearly 12,000 songs. I built it for nearly 10 years, and cherish it. Sadly, however, the external hard drive I stored all my music on is dead, and the backup files are corrupted. (This is what happens when you go back to Windows ) So now I'm left with options of expense: A) I can hire a data recovery service (my first quote was $1,200- completely out of my price range), B) Start allllllll over again, or (hopefully) C) sign up for iTunes Match and match all of the music that could at least be found in the iTunes catalogue.
Here's my question: If I sign up for iTunes Match, and drop the (totally reasonable) $25, will iTunes scan my Library as it is, or does it require that I have the local files? If it needs the local files, then the $25 will be for little more than the option of giving me cloud access to the few files I have left. However, if it scans my library (which I'm generally very anal about organizing) and gives me even HALF of my music back, then it's worth its weight in gold.
Too Long, Didn't Read: does iTunes Match scan local files, or does it just look at the library that is still in my iTunes?
    Please help!

Well, the computer was on all day while I was at work, but I don't think anyone would have come in the house and deleted my music files from iTunes. Anyway, I think the best approach would be to add the entire media folder back into iTunes. I tried it with one song and it initially showed a duplicate, but then iTunes match did an update and removed the duplicate song. I'll do that this evening just before I'm done using the Mac and let the process happen overnight.

  • Failure 4001 iTunes Match - help?

Bought iTunes Match. When receiving Information from Apple AT the end of the First Sync-step i always get the 4001 failure.
No help found on the Internet for my Problem. Already tried to disable Match with Hold alt/Option Button, but didn't work as well.
Anyone got an idea for solving my Troubles?

    Covering your questions:
    1.  iTunes Match will not replace Artwork;
    2.  Songs that it has decided to upload, even though the preferred version is in the iTunes Store is sadly a reflection of the current capability of the matching service - there is no way 'currently' of forcing a match, or indeed forcing an upload.
Artwork though is straightforward to update in iTunes and iTunes Match does replicate the revised Artwork to all libraries and devices once complete.
Song matching is generally more challenging - if you ensure that the source version is a good quality AAC by using conversion to 256 kbit AAC from current form or re-ripping a CD; post back-up, remove original from library and icloud; import new file/folder to library and update iMatch you may well generate a match.  Older Songs and Songs with many re-issue / re-masters are often those that cause  the stubborn 'upload' rather than 'match' result - currently no user way to resolve.

  • How could iTunes Match help me?

I'm thinking about getting iTunes Match, but i'm not really sure how it would help me? I have thousands of downloaded songs without their complete information and I think this is the most importante thing for me rigth now. Can anybody help me deciding wha to do?

The iTunes Match service is really very good with an ability to match a significant proportion of tracks provided that they are currently listed in the iTunes Store.  If many of your tracks are previous store purchases or CD rips from good quality sources it is worth serious consideration.
If many of your tracks are much older (several decades) and sourced from a range of media including analogue (records / tapes) it is likely that the match rates will be very low.
The decision on value to you must be yours alone, for me c82% of my library has successful matched and is now maintained consistently across several computers and IOS devices - fantastic!

  • HT204406 iTunes Match help

I have my iCloud set up with the iTunes Match but everytime I try to download any of the music to my phone it says that there isn't enough storage. My storage says that I have 11.1gb, out of the 15gb I have, are available. I've tried to back up my phone but nothing is working. Please help with this if you can!

How much free space do you have on your actual phone (Settings > General > About > Available) ? The cloud storage is for backups, to be able to download content onto your phone you need free space on the phone

  • HT4914 iTunes match with gift card

i want to buy itunes match wit a gifgard
but why is not working i have money on my account
i want this to work but how

From Apple's support article on How to Subscribe to iTunes Match:
You may use store credit to pay for your iTunes Match subscription however a valid payment method must still be on file at the time of sign up.
Do you therefore have a credit card associated with your account? It not, that's the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match resubscribe?

I subscribed to iTunes Match a few days ago and I only disabled it and now it says I have to subscribe

    Hello mami.g21
As long as you are using the same Apple ID, it should not have an issue with reassociating it with your iTunes library. If you are charged again, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match / icloud

I have a MacBook , ipad & iPhone , I'm thinking about iTunes Match & storing all music in the cloud but as my MacBook is the main computer for the house does it need to always be on for the music to work ?

You pay separately for Match.  It will hold up to 25,000 tracks plus your iTunes purchases.

If you each want to use iTunes Match, yes.  Match is on per-account basis.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match .... Will this work with a mini with a 32 bit processor?

Does iTunes Match work with 32. Bit as well as 64 bit processors?

Do you have iTunes 10.5.1+ on it ? That is the only requirement that is listed for it to work on a Mac.

  • ITunes Match Help!

Earlier, I had started the iTunes Match process but was only able to get through step 1 before receiving an error message (on my pc that holds part of my music library). Now, all of the music is gone from my iPhone and iPad except for the iTunes purchased items which are now showing in the Cloud. How do I get my previously downloaded music from my CD's (that are in my iTunes on my 2 pc's) up into the Cloud, too? If this is impossible, which is what I THOUGHT Match was for, then I would like to figure out how to get a refund. Thank you!

Hi there did you get an answer to your question or a refund?

  • HT4914 iTunes Match song maximum

iTunes Match "stores" 25,000 songs from your library as mentioned. What happens if you have more than 25,000 songs in your iTunes library?  How does it choose the songs to match and make available for the other devices?

You will need to have downloaded your music onto your iPad (or other device or computer) if you want to play it on that deivce whilst you don't have an internet connection - so whilst you are still connected, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637 :
Once your iTunes Match library has finished syncing to your device, you can browse by Genius Mixes, Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums, Compilations, Composers, and Genres. When you find a Genius Mix, playlist, album, or artist you like, simply tap on the Genius Mix or song title to begin streaming that song or playlist. If you begin streaming a song from a playlist, iTunes Match will continue playing through the rest of your playlist after the initial song has finished. If you'd like to download the song or playlist to your device, simply tap the download button to the right of the song or at the bottom of the playlist.
