I have iTunes installed on both my home and work computer. Will iTunes Match store music from both of these? I have different CD's uploaded on them both.

Yes, iTunes will scan the libraries on both computers. Tracks matched or uploaded on one machine will be available to download or stream on the other an vice versa.
It is a way to consolidate all your music on your computer at home by downloading the other tracks which are on your works computer. You need to check for duplicates.

When using iTunes Match, are songs that have already been recorded on the laptop, ipad or iphone preserved in the device and the Match songs that are streamed in from iCloud become available as well? And assume the prerecorded songs can be accessed along with the MATCH songs at the same time?

I'm a little confused you said iTunes Match is not recognizing them and replacing with better quality. If iTunes Match doesn't recognize a song it will upload the version that is on your computer. If it does recognize it you'll have access to the 256KBps version on all devices immediately (wont need to upload).

I'm far than happy with iTunes Match. It chooses whatever song it wants to download in my devices and some other songs are never available. Apart from my lot of songs it deleted. I wouldn't suscribe again, is a moneyloss.

Sure, but there are restrictions on how often you can switch between iTunes Store account IDs with iTunes Match enabled. You can only switch every 90 days, so this really isn't how Apple intends the service to be used.

Yes, but this has nothing to do with iTunes Match. What you are talking about is Home Sharing, which works independently of iTunes Match. Turn off iTM on all devices and it is still possible to stream music all over your home wireless network using Home Sharing.

iTunes match says that it "downloads" songs to iOS devices instead of streaming them. Does this mean that iCloud will download the physical song files to your phone and take up storage data?

The good news is that you can make it work by using more than one library - rather than simply repeat content, do post back if you do not quickly find the specific steps for your application.

Do other people have iTunes match streaming problems?

iCloud is a massive disappointment. I have been using it for several months and it has never worked properly. When I try to stream music inevitably it just goes through these stretches where it flat out doesn't work. No sound, no nothing. Unfortunately now I have tried switching to come off iTunes match and for some reason instead of all 10,000 songs downloading onto my phone only about 7800 did.
If I'm going to be purchasing a new phone soon I need to think long and hard about whether it will be an apple. I don't mind paying a premium for a superior product but if I am going to have these sorts of problems...

For what it's worth, I've used iTunes Match from day one and have never had any problems accessing my library. I do tend to stream almost exclusively when connected to wifi though. If you haven't already tried, you might try turning it off on your phone, then back on; or turning off on all your iOS devices, then signing out in iTunes on your computer, then sign back in on your computer followed by your iOS devices. As long as you are using the same Apple ID, it should not have an issue with reassociating it with your iTunes library. If you are charged again, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

What is the minimum download speed required for iTunes Match streaming

I have been very interested by iTunes Match, and I have read much about it. The only thing that I have not been able to find is the minimum bandwidth required to stream music to an iPhone. Specifically, I would be looking to stream to an iPhone 5, as well as an iPhone 4. If there is an official minimum requirement, please let me know. If there is no apple specified speed, I would be interested in what you found to be he minimum speed necessary for smooth streaming.

iPhone 4 and 5 will both work well with a good 3G service and much better with 4G. Song file is actually downloaded to allow for all conditions of viable mobile signal.

HT4914 iTunes Matching Songs WITHOUT Local Files

So my music collection is nearly 12,000 songs. I built it for nearly 10 years, and cherish it. Sadly, however, the external hard drive I stored all my music on is dead, and the backup files are corrupted. (This is what happens when you go back to Windows ) So now I'm left with options of expense: A) I can hire a data recovery service (my first quote was $1,200- completely out of my price range), B) Start allllllll over again, or (hopefully) C) sign up for iTunes Match and match all of the music that could at least be found in the iTunes catalogue.
Here's my question: If I sign up for iTunes Match, and drop the (totally reasonable) $25, will iTunes scan my Library as it is, or does it require that I have the local files? If it needs the local files, then the $25 will be for little more than the option of giving me cloud access to the few files I have left. However, if it scans my library (which I'm generally very anal about organizing) and gives me even HALF of my music back, then it's worth its weight in gold.

Well, the computer was on all day while I was at work, but I don't think anyone would have come in the house and deleted my music files from iTunes. Anyway, I think the best approach would be to add the entire media folder back into iTunes. I tried it with one song and it initially showed a duplicate, but then iTunes match did an update and removed the duplicate song. I'll do that this evening just before I'm done using the Mac and let the process happen overnight.

iTunes Match is for up to 25000 songs, iCloud storage is separate and they provide different functions. If you subscribe to iTunes Match then you don't use any of your iCloud allowance for storing your music (iCloud is for backing your photos, documents, files etc.). Also iTunes purchases aren't included in your iCloud allowance, what you can re-download from the store depends upon what country that you are in
