HT4914 my ipod mini to music on my home MAC
I can't seem to put music from my home MAC backed up to the cloud to my office PC to place on a i-pod nano. It looks like I have to take it home to sync directly with my MAC but I thought with i-tunes store and the cloud I should be able to do it from my workplace.
You can redownload music from the iTunes Store from your office computer, assuming your company doesn't block access, as many companies do. See:

I transfered apps and music from my ipod touch to my library on my mac before updating my ipod touch to version 6.0, now how do I get music and apps back on ipod touch. I can see them in my library on my mac.
Okay I finally fixed it. I had to turn off wifi on ipad, connect ipad to computer with usb, unsync all music, deauthorize and then reauthorize my computer, and resync all music again! What a hassle but I now have all my music on ipad again.

Setting up iPod Mini with a B/W Power Mac
I inherited an iPod Nano from my daughter. When I first plugged it into my Mac via a USB 2.0 PCI card, the computer noticed that it did not have my daughter's music selections in iTunes and asked me whther I would like to transfer the selections since the Pod can only be updated by one iTuns host. I said no because I wanted to put my own selections on this iPod. Prsently, the iPod is recharging, but nowhere in iTunes on the left side categories is the iPod recognized. Is there anything I should do to have the computer recognize the iPod

Ipod mini won't write past certain limit
I woke up this morning to the sad folder face on my iPod mini. After a reset, it was still a sad mini, so I did what I thought necessary: I restored it with updater software. Now, it connects ok, and what music I can put on it plays fine. The problem is that I can't put more than about 1.15 GB of music onto the mini. After that, iTunes and the mini both freeze, and my only recourse is to unplug it, ignoring the warning about not doing that, and resetting the mini.
I have tried to so a secure erase of the free space using disk utility, and it freezes at about 15% of the progress bar, right where I'd expect based on my writing issues.
Anybody encountered this and solved it? My iPod is no longer under AppleCare, so regardless of whether or not it's my fault (I'm not ready to admit any blame just yet), I can't get it fixed/replaced for free.I have been attempting to load music onto my ipod mini with iTunes and am having the same type of problem. On a previous day, I tried for hours and got frustrated and quit. Tonight I have been reading about this type of problem on message boards and have tried twice to load the songs. The first time, it froze on song #79 when it had loaded 804.7 MB. The second time, it froze on song #42 when it had loaded 636.2 MB.
I don't understand why it had to reload the exact same songs and froze earlier the second time than it did the first time.
The previous night when I was attempting to load songs, it froze several times on the same album, but not the same song. SO, I took that album out, thinking that the songs might be corrupted.
Another thought that I had is that there could be an incompatibility between versions of software in the iPod and iTunes?????

Can I share my ipod between my work PC and my home Mac?
I have an iPod mini that i routinely sync with my mac at home. I just started a new job and am foced to use a PC in my office (Windows XP Pro). I want to connect the iPod to my PC and play music off of it, sync contacts, etc.
I installed iTunes on the PC and tried to connect my iPod to it but was greeted by a dialog box saying I would have to reformat the iPod to have it work with the windows box.
This completely defeats my goal of sharing the iPod between the PC and my home mac! I do not want to loose any of the info off the ipod which syncs regularly with my home mac.
I've read a few posts here that suggest it is impossible to share the ipod between the windows and mac... this sounds incredible to me though - if true, a tremendous oversight on Apple's part, especially as they try to move to being more and more integrated with the PC world.
Any tricks out there that might help?
Thanks!I took the plunge and reformatted the iPod mini using the windows ipod software. (This erased everything on the ipod)
I next set up the ipod with itunes for windows on my work pc and made it sync my favorite podcasts. I took the iPod home and plugged it in to my mac - it was recognized perfectly by the mac. Using the mac, I set the ipod up to sync contacts from address book and then loaded up about 3 gigs of music.
Now I take the ipod back and forth each day - it continues to sync podcasts at work via the pc and contacts at home via the mac... I can manage the music on the ipod manunally using either the mac or the pc... at work i can listen to music on the ipod through itunes and some JBL speakers I hooked up to the pc. The only thing I can't do is sync contacts via the ipod between outlook (pc) and address book (mac), but I can live with that.
The moral of the story - if you want to share the ipod between a pc and mac, it's easy to do so - but you must first format the ipod with the windows version of the ipod software. Then it 'plays nice' with both platforms.
Hope this helps anyone else out there with similar problems... elsewhere I've heard complaints about trying to get contacts out of address book and into microsoft outlook - turns out you can select a bunch of contacts in address book, hold down the option key while dragging them into a folder and they each get copied as individual vcards - then you can import them into outlook. -
I purchased a new iMac, I have an old iPod mini I am trying to sync my iTunes library on my new Mac with my iPod. I purchsed additional music yesterday but I cannot get it to sync to load the music from my computer to my iPod.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -

I have an iPod mini library which I have update. I now have an iPhone 4S which I have synced to the library using a MS XP computer. I can not figure out how to get the library to download to my iPhone?
Thanks, This caused me to go back and try again since the solution seemed so simple. What I did was when it started downloading, it started with the iphones apps to my computer. I did not want the apps downloaded on my computer so I stopped it. If I would have waited, the music was uploaded right after the apps were downloaded.

Help! Can't transfer music to iPod Mini!
Hi there!
I had some CDs that went with my iPod mini that I do not have with me right now for installation when I wanted to set my iPod up with my computer.
So instead of using the CDs, I downloaded iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ... and I installed it on my computer. I have a Windows XP so I downloaded the one for Windows and so I installed iTunes.
I've got iTunes set up and added music to my library but now I want to transfer it to my iPod mini. I connected the iPod to the computer's USB port and something popped up saying I needed to update my version or something for my iPod...
So I did. I downloaded something called IPodSetup ... something similar to downloading the update for my iPod http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/iPodUpdaterXP/ ... this isn't the website I downloaded it from but I downloaded the update from Apple's site I think.
Upon installing that, it said that it was complete in updating... and so I reconnected my iPod and I get the "Please do not disconnect" ... and it pulls up a folder of some folders inside that for my iPod, and it doesn't stop saying "Please do not disconnect" ... I've looked in the mini-help adobe file but nothing there helped me either.
Please someone help! I'd love to transfer music again to my iPod. I've reset my iPod so far... thought that might help.Yes. I have done that. I installed the update and then I connect the iPod to the USB port to the computer.
When I do that, at the top left of my mini, a circle rotates clockwise I think with two arrows, and it loads my iPod as a driver I think... atleast that is what I think happens. It opens a window as "my name IPO (F:)" and inside that window is three folders

How do I copy music from my iPod mini to iTunes?
I accidentally deleted music from iTunes and can't find the original CD. The music is on my iPod mini, but I can't copy the music from the mini to iTunes. Help, please. Thanks!
PC Windows XPOpen iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes. -
I have a ipod mini from 2005, it will only work on my charger. I did get a new i pod touch 4, how do i get the music from the old mini to the new touch. I have never put any music on it myself, my ex-husband did it all and has the password. I never new it. I'm sure not about to call him and I don't think he'd give it to me anyway. Please help!!!
I don't think the password will matter, because you can't use anything on the iPod or in iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
The simple software "lock" used on iPods should not prevent you from off-loading the song files. Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library. Then, you can do a Restore on the iPod to give it a fresh start and sync it (and the iPod touch) as desired.
NOTE: For songs purchased by you from the iTunes Store, you can also re-download them to your computer at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen. The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS. -
'Music' tab not appearing on iPod mini
At first I thought all my songs were gone from my ipod mini, since the 'music' tab wasn't there, but when I pressed play/pause, the songs began to play. They're in itunes as well; I just can't navigate through my songs on my ipod. What's wrong?
Try this;
Go to SETTINGS > MAIN MENU > MUSIC and set it to ON. Then, hit the MENU button several times to get back to the main menu & see if it's there.
You can control what appears in the main menu in this settings menu. Apparently, your ;music' option has been turned off.
Cheers!

Plugged my iPod mini into a new pc, can't move music
I have plugged in my ancient iPod mini into a new pc that already has iTunes and a library of music that I don't want to lose. I have set this relic to 'manually manage music' and I am unable to move music from my iPod to my iTuens library. Help please.
Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.
