what happens to my original music files on my computers an iPxx devices when I subscribe it ITunes Match? Do they get deleted? Do I have to download them again? What happens when I have no internet connection? Can I not listen to my music?

I assume you are talking about non-purchased music here.
Any non-purchased music on your computer that is recognised by iTunes match will be matched in the cloud from the iTunes Store, this will then be available to all your devices. However the original file will stay on your computer unless you delete it and then download the iTunes version from the cloud.
Any no-npurchased music on your computer that isn't recognised by iTunes match will be uploaded to the cloud, it is that version that will then be available to your other devices using iTunes match.
When you have no Internet connection, you will only be able to play the content which resides in your library. Depending on your requirements, this may be all of it, none of it or just some of it.

That is an excellent question. This is definitely not the programmed behavior of Photoshop Elements. Normally, when you edit a file, a new copy of the file is created (the original is simply left alone). This new copy of the file will have "_edited-1" added to the end of the name. It should definitely not be adding $ to the name at all.
Just as a test, create a new user account on your computer, and try editing another image to see if does the same thing there. However, I suspect there is another application on your computer that is modifying how files are saved, deleted, and renamed.

I see your profile indicates that you have a Time Capsule, have you gone through your Time Machine Backups to locate your purchases?
If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from before reinstalling your operating system then I'm sorry to say that I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost music/media purchases is that you have to pay to download them again: iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
The licensing of Purchased applications allows for them be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
If you have an iPod that still has any of your purchases on it you'll find details in this article on how to transfer them to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. Restoring from iCloud backup - what happens to non-iTunes music?

iPhone4, iOS5 and want to restore from an iCloud backup. Wondering what happens when music not purchased on iTunes (95% of my collection), when I restore from that backup? I'm thinking it will all be gone and I will have to go through the painful process of re-selecting all artists\songs I want on the phone in addition to re-creating my playlists.
Can anyone confirm what happens in this scenario?

Try updating within iTunes to update your iPhone if it is not working within the Software Update on your iPhone.

What happened to the latin stations category? Is there any way to add more stations to radio that include latin and Mexican music stations? Or is iTunes limited to what shows up? Any information on how to re-add this category and how I might be able to add stations (and where to find them) would be awesome!

Thanks for the judgmental response, Dave. My favorite part was where you told me how to manage the space on my computer. My second favorite part was when you accused me to stealing music.
I have only synced my iPhone with one computer and its iTunes library. I download music legally to that computer, from mixtape sites, Bandcamp, Amazon and---GASP---other none iTunes sites, load it onto my iPhone, then delete some of it, because I don't listen to music on my computer. I listen to it on a device I purchased to play it. That device is called an iPhone. It's supposed to play mp3s.

But if I am hearing you right, you are telling me the iPhone is literally the only mp3 player in existence that doesn't and shouldn't have the basic functionality to have new mp3s loaded to it from a single authorized computer. That I should be happy now that I cannot load new music onto it, and I should just live with the music that I have already loaded, since I can't load anymore.
And that I should be happy that this basic functionality that, until the most recent software update, I have always had has magically disappeared.
How foolish it was of me to be upset about this! Thank you for showing me the light, Dave.

What happened to all the american idol music by the top 10 contestants. There was music they recorded in the studio and you could download it from itunes. Did itunes take them off? If they didn't, does anyone know how to do a search for the music that the contestants recorded in the studio?..for instance...Syesha's music? As I see it now, they only have the top 2's music. With the iTunes runtime error, the only solution seems to be to uninstall iTunes. If I can't open iTunes as it currently the case because of this issue, therefore I can't backup. What happens to all the audio CDs, books, etc. that I've uploaded to iTunes that I didn't purchase through iTunes when uninstalling. Can I be assured that these are in the Cloud also?

You don't need iTunes to be working to backup the library. You do need iTunes to be working to backup or restore your device...

What i am basically asking is that if itunes allowes more than 5 computers to be used for purchased music but you could only listen to the music on 5 computers at a time.
You can only authorize to an iTunes Music Store account a maximum of five computers at any one time. So five is the most you can play purchased tracks on at the same time. If you want to transfer tracks to a sixth computer and play them there, you have to first deauthorize one of the original five computers.

Nothing will happen to them. Keep them backed up so that you will still have copies if your hard drive fails.
What has caused a lot of discussion, and may be the basis of your question, is the iTunes Match capability. It is an optional feature, so it will not do anything unless you sign up for it. If you do sign up for it, your MP3/320 and ALAC songs will be backed up as AAC/256 copies, which as you correctly note, is a downgrade to the audio quality.
For that reason, iTunes Match is not recommended for your situation.

What happened to the original font stacks?

Just looking for the best place to start to define a style using the original default font families. Got thrown off track by another new feature, well, new to me. Before, when you had some text on the page and slected it, then in the properties you selected a new font group, or another property, you were prompted to create a new style. It doesn't seem to do this now, which is OK, but I'm wondering about the font groups that are showing up.
When going in to "Manage Fonts" it appears that these are Adobe Edge fonts. Is that what the little computer monitor icon represents, or does this icon indicate web fonts?
Anyway, I just wanted Arial. Tried the next tab, Local Web Fonts which seemed the logical option. But I couldn't browse to the Windows/Fonts folder. Other folders show up, but I don't know why this one did not (Folder options, all hidden and system files and folders are set to be not hidden). Does anyone know why this particular browse dialog doesn't see the fonts folder, or is this not the correct way to do this? I ended up going to the third tab, Font Stacks and just added Arial.
I would just like the original, plain ole font families back as the default options. But it seems like the Edge fonts have taken that spot.

One of the reasons that Edge fonts and web fonts are though to be preferable to the old font stacks was because of Android tablets/smartphones only having the Droid font family available, (Android 4.3 added the Roboto font family also).
This meant that Android device users defaulted to the 'Droid' font or a user installed font. The default font if the user had installed a custom font and set it as default, could be anything, (even a comic script font) thus possibly destroying your text and/or layout completely.
If you are not using an Edge font or a downloadable font do not forget to set the last three fonts in your font stack to -
'...., Roboto variant, Droid variant, default font'
