HT4915 duplicates online
is there a way to remove albums from the cloud which no longer show in itunes library as i have duplicates on the cloud but only 1 shows in iTunes. driving me mad!!!
the problem came about after renaming/deleting albums locally and ended up with only 1 showing on itunes but several on icloud.
because it does not show localy i dont get the option to remove from cloud.
sorted!!
fired up a second library in itunes and left it empty but with match switched on.
i could then see all my cloud albums but still could not see the duplicates.
i then got info on album in question and set to part of a compilation
and instantly the iphone duplicates were gone.

Database recovery (online redolog ?)
hi all,
Been awhile since i touch on oracle db, i have been reading around and the emphasis for recovery is always on the backup and archivelog, but i think its wrong.
can i check ->
q1) for full database recovery, do i need the online redo log as well ?
q2) if the answer to q1) is yes, how do i duplicate online redo log to standby site ? (i don't think rsync will work as it cannot sure consistency in the redolog)
will oracle dataguard sync online redolog as well ?
q3) for archivelog, beside manual rsyncing, LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 = 'SERVICE=standby1'
do i need the enterprise edition for the above ?
Regards,
Alanq1) For a complete recovery, yes you need online redolog as well. Without online redolog, its still considered incomplete recovery since u lose data resides in online redolog
q2) You no need to synch online redo log manually. Once the backup is restored to the DR dataguard site and MRP process initiated, Oracle will synch online redolog/archivelog automatically based on protection mode specified
q3) Oracle dataguard applies to Enterprise Edition only. Without Enterprise Edition, we can configure log shipping (manual way).

Migrating to a SAN environment
Hi all,
I am pretty new to the Oracle world and I am seeking some advice on migrating Oracle Db's to a SAN.
The company that I work for has a number of Oracle databases and their related apps that need to be migrated to a net-apps SAN, I have searched for best practice guides etc but cant seem to find anything substantial.
Has anyone got any good links to articles or doucuments relating to this???
Many thanks in advance
PhilMigrating to the SAN is no more than mounting some LUNs and moving the database to them. The setup of the SAN is the thing. Here is a place to start.
1. RAID should be stripes on mirrors, NOT mirrors on stripes and not parity.
2. LUNs (LVOLs, volumes, or ??) should be built up of stripes and not concatenated.
3. More than one route to the SAN -- and more than one service processor
4. At least 8 volumes as. Something like
/u01 for binaries
/u02 for logs, alert files, and I/O locations
/u03 for backups, archived redo logs and dumps
/u04 - /u99 for data files
/w01 for online redo log and control file
/w02 for online redo log and control file
/w03 for online redo log and control file
/w0# for duplicate online redo logs
At least that is the way I do it. -
RMAN clone; Avoid backup image
Oracle 10.2.0.5
When cloning databases with RMAN on ASM, it creates a backup image before restoring the backup to a clone. Whenever I clone a database, I need double amount of storage to do it.
Is there way to clone a database in ASM and avoid the additional backup image?
I appreciate the help.
Thank youHi Philippe,
I really appreciate your post, doing things that seem impossible to be possible. (such as to duplicate (online) a database in 10g without restore). :)
I decided to complement your post doing duplicate using ASM.
I did not make step by step, but for any Senior DBA can understand.
P.S: For All:
Be very careful to do this using ASM because you can damage or remove your target database if the parameters(init<instance_name>.ora) are not configured correctly.
I created/used a different diskgroup from that used by the target database, for precaution and safety.

Recommend Backup Software for OS 10.3?
I need to get some backup software so I can backup only new files and files that have been changed. Can someone recommend a good utility for doing this on OS 10.3?
Thank you!If you get the downloads through another computer online,
be sure they are the correct stand-alone items; then you
can choose to never go online with the 10.3.x computer.
I have and use a USB thumb drive or flash drive to get
extra files between computers so they don't need to go
and do the same duty in duplicate online; this would also
work to get the actual files you needed via another Mac.
Be sure they are the correct ones, first, of course.
There are no currently supported browsers, for the most
part, for Panther 10.3.9; so secure online browsing is a
thing that may be problematic or issue-prone; yet the
internal server to Support updates, and the Software Update
app can probably be used to get info or the files you'd want.
And you need not install all of the found updates; yet by
now, those in-between and questionable ones would be
fewer than they were in the day they were new. I had a
few issues in Panther (and avoided some, then) in the
updates in-between. So, by now, there should be none.
In one sense, the Software Update app may be helpful
in finding the correct names of the files, then get the
few you actually may need, more manually from Support.
The 10.3.9 Combo, and the last security update, plus any
Java update(s) are likely to include actual useful offline
update materials. A few Panther/Tiger users had an odd
issue with going/staying online after one of the small step
updates to 10.3 at one point, and it was problematic. A
last Combo plus security update may avoid the issue.
This may be a mute issue at this late a date; but may be
worth checking into further, as far as it goes. And most
items made for Panther 10.3 generally were updated as
far as the last full stop 10.3.9; a few required that level.
Good luck & happy computing!

Backup assistant issue for iPhone4
Unfortunately, the Backup Assistant keeps duplicating (3-5x) contacts and it takes way too long to delete each contact. I deleted all the duplicates online through the vzw website and tried to run the back up to sync with the changes I made online. However, when I run the app it's telling me it's backing up 1400+ contacts! What's going on with this app? And why can't I 'Sync' from the website? (it tells me 'sync' is not compatible with my phone). Please help!
Good morning SH050107.
Who likes having the same contacts in their phone 3-5 times? Especially when it uses up so much of your memory that you could use for other things. I'm sorry you're having this problem. Let's get this taken care of! When did you notice this start happening? How long have you had your iPhone 4? Please try deleting the application from your phone, then restart the phone, and then turn back on and re-download Backup Assistant. Let's see if this helps. Please keep us posted.
Thank you,
VanessaS_VZW

Duplicate Identification in Customers Online
Hi All,
I'm trying to identify duplicate Contacts/Persons based on the Organizations the contact is linked to.
For Ex: There are 2 persons - A & B with the same names (say 'Ron Lucas'); and if A is a contact of Organizations O1 and O2; and B is a contact of Organizations O2 and O3.
I want to set up a de-duplication rule that can pick up A&B as duplicates as the name of the contacts is same and also as they are tied up to the same Organization O2.
Please let me know, if anyone has tried putting up similar kind of de-duplication rules in Customers Online Data Librarian.
Thanks,
Sasi.Hi Sasi,
Please refer to DQM feature (setup DQM rules) which is bundled with Oracle TCA. I am sure it should solve your problem.
Thanks,
Neeraj -
When I did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs in my library. I have gone back into my library from my computer, and deleted the duplicates. When I did so, itunes did not ask me if I wanted to delete them from the cloud. They are still showing up on my iphone as duplicates in the cloud. What can I do to get them from showing up in my iphone?
They are not on the iphone in the first place. It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone. If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.

EA6500 Devices Issues Duplicate Devices Online cannot delete
I have 3 Direct TV wireless kits on the router yet I am showing yet 6 devices on the device list with duplicate IP addressses. I turned off power to all 3 kits, and was able to go offline on 3 of the devices, however, 2 would not go away, and 1 device is completely not defined or found in my network.
Everthing is powered off.
Direct TV 2 devices at .120
Direct TV 2 devices at .113
Direct TV 1 device at .122
and then an unknow device at lan-1 .111, lan-2 .105
How to I fix this stuff?
I have disconnected everything possible to isolate but the unknow device will not go offline.
Neither will all the Direct TV boxes.
Is there a way to force a Device Offline so you can delete it?
I am not sure what to do next?
ThanksHi Bmyers. Is your network secured? If there are devices that you cannot remove, ensure that the firmware is updated. Try to restart your router and see if the devices are still there. This could a be similar case with devices showing up incorrectly on device list: http://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT1900AC-Network-map-wrong/m-p/846156#M280970
In that article, I suggested to configure the DHCP reservation list to avoid the software from incorrectly naming devices on the network. -
This has been going on for a week or two.
Does this still happen if you restart Firefox in safe mode? For instructions, see '''[[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]'''.

It first de-organized hours worth of my time. Then I tried it again with iTunes match off only to find out that once you turn it on it de-organizes it again!! I have iTunes match turned off on all my devices. HELP
Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set the option for "iTunes Match" to OFF. Then do a hard reset by holding down the Power and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
FYI, there is no matching from an iOS device. -
Audio duplicate feature on hp pavilion-1247cl notebook using windows 7 not working
. i have a hp pavilion dv6-1247cl laptop.running on windows 7 initially i was able to use the duplicate feature-fn/f4 key to display and hear my web page on the tv screen using the hdmi cable connection. i am unsure if i have accidentally changed a setting recently on my laptop or what, but i am unable to get sound audio any longer through my tv or receiver system as before. the video from the laptop on the tv still shows fine the hdmi connection ran computer to tv then audio cable out from tv to receiver. i can get the sound to work if i connect an audio cable directly fron the hp headphone jack on my laptop into the same audio input channels in my receiver. anyone got any ideas if the laptop is on the fritz or do i just need to change some setting ps the laptop is relatively new thanks for any input ..
Thanks for the help, but I found the program to fix it. After searching for hours. I stumbled upon this link and it finally worked and the unknown device was only my headset and the other one I just updated by making it search online for the software. Here is the link for other people to use to fix their usb port problems. - http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?javax.portlet.begCac...

[SOLVED] Login to Gnome Session fails when not online
Sry, this is weird and i don't know how to fix it. Whenever i am not online during login stage in gdm i cannot
start the Gnome Shell. I get the "Oops" Screen and need to logout. All is fine when i am Online however.
Even weirder: When i try to login for several times, usually 3-4, without being online and without restarting, gnome eventually disables all
shell extensions and is starting... BUT after a restart the same problem appears even when all user extensions are still disabled ?!
here is the output from journalctl ... has anyone, any clue ?

Hybrid Search not working from SharePoint 2013 Online to SharePoint On-premise
Hi,
I have setup a SharePoint 2013 Hybrid environment setup with the following –
Windows Server 2012 R2
SharePoint Server 2013 with April 2014 CU
SQL Server 2014
ADFS 3.0 using SSO with Web proxy and DirSync
SharePoint 2013 Online tenant on Office 365 Enterprise Subscription
I have configured the Hybrid following the article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj838715(v=office.15).aspx and configured Hybrid Search. The hybrid environment was working fine including Search both ways initially
but after upgrade to April CU 2014 (along with upgrade to SQL 2014 from SQL 2012), now search from SharePoint online to SharePoint in-Premise is not working anymore.
I am still able login with the federated IDs in both the environments and get results from SharePoint Online in SharePoint in-Premise environment.
I have already tried most of the troubleshooting steps mentioned at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn518363(v=office.15).aspx
Now every time, we perform a search in our SharePoint Online site, which is configured to show hybrid results from SharePoint in-premise, we don’t get results from in-premise and instead we see the following error logged in SharePoint
In-premise Web Server –
Error - An exception occurred when trying to issue security token: Exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' was thrown. Parameter name: value.
And ULS log shows the following – Even though the message seems apparent that there could be duplicate users in user profile Application, but that’s not the case. There are just 2 unique users added there.

Any ideas?
Anupam ShrivastavaI am experiencing the same issue. Don't have the answer yet about what's wrong exactly. And my SSO works fine too.
I know precisely what makes the SharePoint throw the ArgumentException, but I can't yet figure out how to influence this behavior. I will respond back if I find out, but I hope the following will create an "aha moment" for someone.
So the SP Online issues an OAuth request to the on-prem SharePoint. If verbose logging is on for the Claims category, you may see how it reads these claims. One of them is this:
Claim['nii':'urn:federation:microsoftonline']
Using this claim and the nameid claim the profile mapping logic then reports the following immediately before the error (Set User Profiles to verbose to see this):
Creating encoded sid for nameid '100300008b29cb02' and nameidissuer 'urn:federation:microsoftonline'
Inspecting this logic with Reflector, I can see that it then attempts to infer the identity provider type from the nameidissuer, and throws the exception, because "federation" is not what it expects. It expects either "windows", "trusted" or "forms" for
the provider type.
So the user's actions to lead to this error were as follows:
1. I connect to the Office 365 portal, and get redirected to my ADFS server (same domain for the ADFS server, on-prem SharePoint, and the user accounts).
2. I log on, and from the SP Online portal I issue my search query using a result source configured as per the Hybrid TechNet guidance.
So thanks in advance for any suggestions, on what it could be. -
I planned on kicking off my journey attempting to edit a massive multi year documentary on FCPX with a nice introduction of the blog I'm going to keep about the experience, but I've run into a bit of a roadblock, or maybe major speed bump at least before even getting to that point. I wanted to share what is working as a work around for me and you guys can tell me how I'm doing it wrong.
Ok, I will try to explain this as succinctly as possible. I'll write in somewhat stream of consciousness just to try and get through it quicker... Basically, after discovering the work around below, I am now utterly confused on how FCPX handles the relationship between its own database of where media is stored, and the actual media itself. I have plenty experience on FCPX now, probably done 30-40 pro commercial jobs on it over the last year since XML became doable as I'm also a Resolve Colorist and all the FCPX projects where hardcore coloring product spots. For commercial work, I never needed to worry about splitting up footage up over multiple Events. Everything, all in one, FCPX handled it no problem. (well the occasional beach ball, but that seems to be a thing with FCPX in general)
This will be my 10th feature documentary as an Editor. Every one before it was either on Avid's many flavors over the last 12 years or FCP Studio. When this new film came along, I made the decision a few months ago to use FCPX for a few reasons, but mostly because I'm insane and I like to try to mix it up for myself in a career that can get stale quick if you aren't willing to be that way. The film was shot over 2+ years, every shoot was multi cam 5D (yes i know, looks great, but please kill me), I haven't done the math on length, but there is over 10,000 clips of video (this is actually medium in size compared to what I've dealt with before). Its 5D, so theres external audio for everything. FCPX's syncing is great, but I've learned that theres an unsaid window of heads and tales clips must fall within to sync properly with the nearby clips, if they are too far apart FCPX gives up. One shoot day could have 3 cams, 50 clips each, and 2 audio files to sync to, FCPX simply cannot handle this, so off to Plural eyes they went, no problems.
Ok, all this is relevant eventually I swear! Again, in the past, all in one event, no problem. I tried for fun to bring all media into one Event on this film. It worked, but there is a 10+ second spinning beach ball for every single move you make, so thats no good. Ok, I'll separate the Events out to, lets say, each shoot month. Well that's dumb, in verite documentary, any shot could be the first, any shot could be the last, you need a command over all searchable footage at all times. Shift selecting all events to search *****, and it actually takes longer for FCP to reload each event each time than it does to just have the one massive one. So no go there. Next hair brained idea... What if make a new Event that is just Compound Clips of all the other Event's contents and do more with Markers and Favorites in logging that I was planning to parse it all out. That way I'm working with and FCPX is dealing with 50-60 clips instead of 10,000+ Quick test, Cmd-A, Opt-G, boom, boom, boom, move all to dedicated to Event, hide huge Event, BEHOLD, that works! FCPX chokes a little bit on the insane length of some of the clips, but searching, and general performance is back on par!
So your saying to yourself "Ok *********, sounds like you figured it out, what's the problem." Well to you I say, "Not so fast!" Remember, that was just a quick test using the media I had imported into the massive 10,000+ clip Event. To do this project proper, I am having to import Multicam sync'd XMLs from Plural Eyes. And this is where it all starts to fall apart. A little foreshadowing for your eager eyes. 10,000+ files all shot with multiple 5D's over the course of years. What does that mean? many, many duplicate file names!
FCPX as well all know irritatingly imports XML's as new Events, not into existing ones. This obviously takes a lot of burden off media management because with a new Event comes a new database referencing its own version of the raw media. All well and good, and I'm betting its starting to click for some if you advanced users where I'm finally going with this. So I have 50 or so XMLs to bring in, all done no problem. Now I want to replicate that singular Event like I did with the Compound Clip test and have it all in one place to be my master as extensive logging begins for easy searching once editing begins. Highlight the Events, click Merge Events. NOPE. I get a new "Kill Yourself Now" error (a term I coined for Out of Memory and General Error messages in FCP Legacy meaning there ain't much you can do about it): "Two or more files have the same name. Change the names and try again, because I don't know what the **** to do with them." Ok I made up that last part but that's basically what it's saying. Just take the variable out of the equation, this happens with every which way you could try to get the clips together. Merge Events, dragging events on top of each other, dragging just the Multicam clip alone, nothing gets passed that message. What's worse is that while Batch Renaming seems like a solution, the renames do not populate inside the created clips and there is no way to Batch Rename those. Renaming everything at the finder level isn't so great because then I'd have to resync and theres an offline/online thing going here where the film has to be reconformed eventually.
Basically, I've found that FCPX handles media management in completely different ways depending on whether you are importing into one Event yourself or doing essentially what is a new import with FCPX moving or merging Events. If you bring in all the media to one Event, on a macro level FCPX goes through file by file making aliases referencing the master file. If it hits a duplicate, it makes a parenthesis counter, and keeps going. And with the genius of FCPX metadata, that file name doesn't even matter, you can change it at the Finder level and FCPX will keep the link intact. BUT for some reason if you try to do this outside the realm of a single Event and combine files after the fact a different process takes over in creating this database system and can't handle the duplicates. I can't totally figure the reason other than it probably is scared to change the originally referenced alias to something else (which it shouldn't be scared of since Merge Events deletes the original anyway).
This is where it gets INSANE and where I lose all understanding of what is going on, and believe me it was a delicate understanding to begin with. It comes in to play with the work around I figured out. I make the master Event with the 10,000+ clips. Then I import all the XMLs as dedicated Events. Now, I then drag the Multicam clips into the master Event, it WORKS! just takes it, no "Kill Yourself Now" error. Stranger still, now with the switched referenced Event, it even takes into account which aliased duplicate file name it's referencing in the Original Media folder. Somehow, it's taking into account the original file path and saying "Ok, I see 5 instances of MVI_5834.mov. Based on the original file path or maybe creation date or god knows what, it must be MVI_5834 (fcp3).mov." It connects perfectly. I can even remove the old XML imported Event with no problem. Crazier yet, I can now move those again to the dedicated Event I wanted originally that only contains those Multicam or Compound Clips.
So instead of going straight from A to C, going from A to B to C works even though that actually seems way more complicated. Why can't FCPX handle Merge Events and dragging clips the same way it handles media imported into a single Event. And weirder still, why can't FCPX handle the (fcp1,2,3...) appending in the same scenario. But if the appended links are already there, No Problem. And for the love of god, it'd be nice to important XML's into existing Events and make the correct referencing happen right from the get go, which is really the source of all the above headache. I'd have no problem helping FCPX with a little manual pointing in the right direction just like any other NLE needs.
Ok, having said all of that crap above, my question is, have I missed something completely simple I should have done instead? Now that I have everything in place how I originally envisioned, I think I will still play around a little bit more to make sure FCPX is really going to be able to handle this project. I'm at a stage right now where going another direction is still an option, although the dare devil in me wants to make this work. Media management aside, once you start editing on a FCPX timeline, its hard to go back to anything else. Apple is going to have to figure out some way not to access to everything at all times to work fluidly or big projects like this are never going to be practical in FCPX.
Sorry for the long confusing post....I'm having the exact same problem, but I know nothing of ruby scripts. I've exhausted my resources with tech support, and after literally hours of work with them it seems I now am faced with either re-rating each individual song, or pointing iTunes to each song that it can't locate. Is yours a solution that could help me? How can I find out more about Ruby Scripts? Thanks for your help, hellolylo (or anyone else who might also be able to help...)
