HT4915 iTunes Match issues

I had to delete a lot of music from my iTunes, I deleted the songs from my iTunes, clicked to remove them from iCloud and have match turned on, but the songs are still on my iPhone. How do I make my accounts synch so everything that should be gone is?

Hi JackieRainh20!
You may want to make sure that the “Show all music” setting in your Music settings is turned off:

  • Weird iTunes Match issue - song correct on computer and iPhone, wrong on iPad

    I hope someone can help.
I use iTunes Match for my mobile devices, with my main home PC being the golden source/reference.
Most songs work fine on my computer, iPhone 4S and iPad3 using iTunes Match ... however a few songs are incorrect on the iPad.
For example, Kelly Clarkson "Breakaway" is plays correctly on computer and iPhone, but a completely different Kelly Clarkson song plays on the iPad (a song we don't even own!).
    Troubleshooting ...
    a) on iTunes on my computer, iTunes match is up to date and the 'problem' songs are listed as "Matched" in the iCloud Status column.
    b) on the iPad, I've tried turning off iTunes match, then re-enabling iTunes match - same issue occurs - the Kelly Clarkson songs show up, but the 'wrong' song plays
    c) I've tried restarting the iPad ... no change.
I've read other threads with similar issues - they say contact support - but my systems are out of full warranty and there doesn't seem to be a way of contacting support without paying.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hi - thanks for the response.
    A couple of points/questions
    1) I did further debug by deleting the song from my computer (leaving the song in iCloud) - then downloading from iCloud .... the song labeled Kelly Clarkson 'Breakaway' in iCloud is not the correct song .... this isn't coming from my system, as the song was 'Matched', not 'uploaded'.
    2) I rechecked my iPhone ... the Kelly Clarkson song 'Breakaway' which plays correctly is stored locally on the phone ... it's not coming from iCloud/Match.
    3) You mention removing "Music" from the iPad .... how is that possible? I can remove apps that I've downloaded, but don't know how to remove 'native' apps (like safari, music etc.). Also - based on my further troubleshooting, this clearly isn't an iPad issue any more ... it's an error with Apple iTunes Match catalog.
Any ideas on how to contact Apple (without me paying!) to have this resolved?

  • New iPad apps & iTunes Match issues?

So I have a 64gb AT&T new iPad. I've had it for about a week now and it's been working great except for downloading new apps, and downloading some stuff from iTunes Match.
When I try to update apps, it just goes back to the home screen and it says that these apps are "waiting." I tried rebooting it, which did nothing. When I plugged it into my computer most of the apps updated sucessfully, but some were still just waiting. I tried a different wifi network, then I tried it over cellular data and nothing works. I don't want to have to plug it into my computer everytime it needs to update an app.
Then with iTunes Match, the frikin thing REFUSES to download some songs and albums. I will listen to an album all the way through, then I'll look in the music app and nothing has downloaded. I'll press the little cloud with the down arrow button and nothing happens. I've tried force quitting the music app through multi-tasking, and sometimes it helps a little bit, but most it just does nothing. Occasionally, it won't even play songs, even if I've already downloaded them.
It behaves the same over different wifi networks and over cellular data, so I know it's not my internet connection. My iPhone 4 has been working perfectly over the same wifi connection (in terms of both app updates and Match).
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Does anybody have any solutions? Suggestions?

I have had this problem since buying my new iPad 3 weeks ago. The situation you have described is almost identical to my own. Touching the little cloud icons appears to activate a downoad but this never gets underway and looking at dpwnoads these are shown as waiting. A 'Genius' at my local Apple Store was unable to solve this problem. The strarnge thing is that iTines Match on my iPhone4S works fine with iOS 5.1, but clearly there are some issues Apple needs to sort ourt with the new iPad. I'd be really interested whether anyone offered you a solution or whether you found one elsewhere?

  • HT4915 iTunes Match not updating Changes from Library and reverting to original data WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!?

How do I keep iTunes Match from De-Organizing my music? I have spent hours organizing my music ratings, info, and deleting duplicates only to quit iTunes and find out that it reverts back to the original when it starts up and syncs with Match. It first de-organized hours worth of my time. Then I tried it again with iTunes match off only to find out that once you turn it on it de-organizes it again!! I have iTunes match turned off on all my devices. HELP!!

Oh let me elaborate some more as my frustration kept me from being clear. I updated my library (which is of significant size) with different ratings, genre and deletion of duplicate songs. While iTunes Match was on. I closed the ITunes program and, later once I re-opened it it asked if it connect to the internet like usual and right in front of my eyes reverted what I had updated back to before I updated it.
I never had this issue before except for when I first upgraded my macbook and copied the music files straight from the iTunes folder from a backup disk which did not save any of my ratings.
I then modified a couple of songs again, closed the I-Tunes application, opened it again, and saw it revert it again.
I turned iTunes Match off on all my devices and modified some songs, restarted iTunes and the changes stayed.
Something with the "Cloud" is not allowing these changes to remain permanent. Once a change is made to a file it is timestamped right? So why is the cloud and computer not following the latest timestamp?
I have finished organizing a sizable amount of music and am now worried about turning Match on again in fear that it will screw up my entire library.
I do this about once every 5 years or so where I spend a lot of time organizing my music, photos, etc... I just wish that for once I would have technology that wouldn't make it a nightmare.
Side note: I am bilingual and recently changed my computer language from English to Portuguese. So iTunes thinks its totally cool to change the genre of only the songs that are played to the portuguese spelling of the genre, which practically duplicates all my genre. Thats pretty annoying. Just leave the freaking music metadata language alone dudes if the artist speaks english the metadata should be in english in my opinion. Or at least have this auto language update as an option under preferences one could opt out of.

  • Inexplicable iTunes Match issues

    Hi,
I have an iPad 3 and I use iTunes Match to listen to all the stuff on my Mac hard drive on the go.
Recently my Purchased Music Playlist and other playlists on iPad do not automatically update when I buy or add new things.
I have done the obvious and turned iTunes Match off and on, which worked once but now no longer works.
I have tried turning iTunes Match off, closing the Music app down and restarting it, as well as turning the iPad off and back on in between turning Match off/on
    it doesnt work.
In fact last night, whilst I had iTunes Match switched off in Settings - apart from not having any of my new purchases the Match service was operating as normal, my entire library was available, yet Match was off.
So, Match won't refresh, and won't turn off.
    Help.
    MM

It's only been publicly available since mid-Nov -- were you in the beta?   I think 4-5 months would be a record.
My guess is that it's getting stuck somewhere.  First, I'd verify that you're on the latest iTunes version.  Then, when it runs, check what step you are at, as I'm guessing that either you're stuck at either one file being checked or perhaps it's just taking a REALLY long time to upload whatever you have.  Technically if you have a very slow upload speed and if you are unfortunate enough to have tens of thousands of files being uploaded, it wouldn't surprise me if it could take a month or longer, at least.   What's your upload speed?

  • HT204406 iTunes Match ISSUE: we could not complete your itunes store request.  an unknown error occured (-50)

I cannot turn on my iTunes Match.  When I try to add my computer it just says:
"we could not complete your itunes store request.  an unknown error occured (-50)"
and then I press ok and it says:
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request.  The network connection could not be established"

Apple appears to be having trouble with the iTunes Store servers right now. Wait for them to fix it.

  • HT4915 iTunes Match Question

I did not renew my iTunes Match subscription and need to know how to remove all the music I can no longer access off my iphone. Can anyone help? Thanks!

You may need to turn off itunes match on your phone in settings.  You should also be able to swipe across a selected song, artist, or album that you do not want and see a red delete button appear. If you can not get that to work, you can go into settings and delete all your music but you'll have to re sync all your music you want.
Tuen off iTunes Match on your phone: go to settings/iTunes & app stores/select iTunes Match off.
To delete all music completely:  go to settings/general/usage/music (once it loads the parameters) swipe across and press delete.

  • HT4914 iTunes Match Issues

I just subscribed to iTunes Match on my iPhone 5S but it won't work. iTunes Radio is still playing ads and I can't sync any of my non-iTunes music. There is no 'Turn on iTunes Match' option in my Music Settings either. All that keeps showing up is the 'Subscribe to iTunes Match' option, and thank you very much but I've already done that. Even when I click on that option all that shows up is a screen telling me I've already subscribed to iTunes Match. I'm getting really sick and tired of this whole deal, I even tried restarting my phone to see if it just needed to recalibrate. I would think that Apple could've figured out how to make their technology portably accessible after all these years. Any suggestions as to anything else I could try are welcome.

  • HT4915 iTunes Match vs iCloud Sync

When iTunes Match is activated, can I choose to keep the music files on any of the devices associated  with my account (the way iCloud sync works)?
Ocassionally I'm way-off grid and still want to be able to access my music. I'm hesitant to commit to an all-streamins solution. I want the music files on my iMac and iPhone updated with ICloud sync and have my tablets use iCloud Match to conserve disc space. Is this possible?

When you activate iTunes Match from your computer your computer's library gets matched or uploaded to the iTunes Match server. If you activate iTunes Match on your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad you will see all of your matched an uploaded music appear in the music app on that device. Songs that are downloaded locally on the device will appear without a cloud symbol meaning they are physically located on the device, can be played and not use data, and if you go off the grid, they will still show up and be playable. Songs that are in iTunes Match but not on your device will have a cloud icon. You can play these songs at any time but they are being played from the server, so if you connection is bad or you go offline, you may not see them or they may not load well.  In the end, the answer to you question is yes.  If you activate iTunes Match, you can choose which songs or playlists are downloaded locally to a device and which ones aren't. • HT4915 iTunes Match sync and deleted itunes files

Will iTunes match remove songs deleted from iTunes when it syncs?
I cleared all iTunes music on my computer to start over clean but didn't remove them from the cloud.

iTunes Match does not have the ability to remove local files.
The service operates by comparing the selected iTunes Library with the iTunes Store content and 'matching' or 'uploading' - it is very straightforward a 'match' provides equivalent access to iTunes Store content as a recognised 'purchase'; upload simply copies a 256k AAC variant into the cloud.  There are no elements of this activity that can erase the local library content.
Would suggest you explore possible alternative causes of file loss.  Given the pattern described of selective deletion, leaving many Songs intact - would suggest making at least 2 secure offline Song file backups and starting the library again from a fresh install of iTunes once a thorough sweep of the system has been completed for virus.  It is also worth assessing the physical security of the system - who has access & with what privileges.
To access Songs from the cloud, you would have to manually delete the Song from the library or open an empty library - so even when accessing content, iTunes Match provides no local deletion capability.

  • ITunes Match issues syncing multiple accounts

I recently signed up for iTunes Match to sync my MacBook Pro with my iPhone 4s and iPad.  The problem is that it will only correctly sync my .me account.  I have missing album art and songs depending on which account I am signed into at the time of a sync.  I am at the point of leaving both iCloud and iTunes Match.

Why do you think you had to create a new .me account to enable iTunes Match? All you had to do was enable it on your existing iTunes Store account ID.
Be that as it may, iTunes Match does not transfer across iTunes store accounts; it is associated with only one account. However, your use of the word "sync" in this context is confusing and unclear. When you use it do you mean you are physically connecting your iDevice via USB? Because iTM does not "sync" in the traditional sense. So what, precisely, are you trying to do? Set up iTunes Match or sync your iDevice? The two are mutually exclusive.

  • ITunes Match issue

I have paid for, and completed iTunes Match upload on my PC (2769 songs).  But when I go into Music on my iPhone 4S 32 GB, turn on iTunes match, enter my password, I get this error: "You are not currently subscribed to iTunes Match [which is not true].  Use iTunes on your computer to subscribe."  Has anyone run into this problem?  If so, any suggestions?  Thank you.

I also got this on my iphone today after subscribing and successfully uploading my music on my laptop yesterday. I noticed that my MacBook used my itunes login info, whereas my iphone wanted to use my "cloud" login, which have become different since I moved from MobileMe to iCloud. I keep getting the error message on my iphone, probably my ipad too but I haven't yet tried.

  • HT4915 iTunes Match deleted tracks just show back up on next iTunes restart, super frustrating.

Has anyone found a fool proof way around this? I don't understand, it's so incredibly frustrating. I'll delete tracks and then an hour or a day or two later they just pop back up in my library. It's so unbelievably obnoxious. I haven't called Apple support, as I know from experience they know little and do nothing about iTunes Match, but man...
Apple doesn't normally half-*** stuff but iTunes Match is the lamest pile ever. I'm trying to delete my collection because after four days of trying to get my genre tags updated, with iTunes Match deleting the fresh tags off of 15,000 tracks of my collection SEVERAL TIMES--before I wised up and set all my MP3s to read-only so iTunes can't delete them---I just can't believe this is such a pain.

Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.

  • Itunes match; a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, cannot delete it or replace the track/ data b) now have 9k tracks "stuck" in icloud and cannot delete them no matter what I do. eh?

    Hi
I;m having so itunes match issues.
I ran itunes match. I';ve since foumd, I think:
    a) if incorrect genre etc data has been uploaded to icloud, I cannot find how to delete it and reupload correct song and data. I am presently assuming that once songs are matched, the meta-data, genre, etc etc thats uploaded is now treated as 'the master' by itunes.
Question: if I want to change the genre on a track, whats the correct way to overwrite the data held in the icloud? if I delete the track i just bring down the old incorrect genres again!
    b) I've deleted from the icloud all my music tracks (select all, delete, Y to delete tracks from icloud). I have turned off itunes match on my ipad, iphone, appletv mac and windows pc. I've deleted the itunes library files too from mac and pc in desperation. But hours /days later, when I turn on itunes match on mac or pc, it tells me i still have 9k tracks in icloud. All with the old, wrong meta-data ready to mess up my [now-corrected]  files back on my pc!
I cannot delete them no matter what I do. The number of tracks in the cloud was 12k, now 9k so its reducing, by about 1500 tracks a day.
does it really take itunes servers that long to delete the tracks I've asked it to delete, or am i seeing garbage data?
is there a quicker way of deleting all my itunes match library, songs and data?

    Thanks for the helpful replies.
My original intention was to 'upgrade' some of my tracks. In those cases, I'd iTunes matched, and the process was completed.
I later downloaded those new tracks but found during that process, the tracks I was downloading had the old metadata.
I guess the idea there is to update the local genres, 'update iTunes match' and wait. How long, I don't know but that's the current solution, yes ?
Thing is I was trying to get my local library updated and, as I thought it, back in order, but was finding my local genre updates were being overwritten. I had a lot of tracks that kept on stating they could be downloaded so I thought the new files hadn't been copied down...
I think I was trying to get match to do too many things at once.
Deleting my tracks in the cloud? Was an act of desperation to start over with all known good genres locally and to re- upload, start over. I'd read in some forum or other to do that, I guess that was wrong,
    Ok so I will.. Err,
A  wait and see how long it takes to delete my tracks in the cloud ie let it complete the process I'd already started.
B  Correct my local tracks genres
C  Wait til those changes propagate up to the iCloud ( or whatever the right term is)
Q1: How long should I wait for A and C to complete?
Q2: Is it 100% definite that local genre changes will get copied up to the cloud, when I 'update iTunes match'?
I don't see any animated cloud icon, but I will watch for it!
    Thanks again
    Iain
