So I restored my whole computer back to an earlier date, becuase I couldn't figure out how to restore just my photo library. Advice?
Best way is to restore your backup from before the problem, rebuild it and update it again

Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.

When I upgraded iphone to ios 5 and all of my pics and videos are gone. I remember doing the upgrade through iTunes. I've looked in iPhoto and iTunes. Does anyone have any sugesstions of how I can get my pictures back?
For some reason, did you fail to use the iPhone as intended? Meaning copying the pictures and videos off the device regularly so that in the event the device is lost/stolen or simply fails, copies would exist on your computer?
You can try restoring from the backup created prior to the update, but it is strongly recommended that pictures/videos be copied off the device on a regular basis. Then any pics/vids that the user desires to keep on the device can be synced back via iTunes. -

My iPad mini says to connect to iTunes, and I try to restore it, but after its done extracting a message comes up saying that device is not found, is there anyway i can fix this? I don't care if i don't get my stuff back, i just want my iPad restored to its starting settings.
If everything else that you try fails, I would try using another computer. Since you don't care about saving any data, any computer that is running the latest version of iTunes might be able to restore the iPad. You could make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar and they can do it for you.
If that isn't feasible for you, try using a different cable, a different USB port. reboot the computer, and reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Then try again. -

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

My iMac suddenly restarted on its own, saying there was a problem. When I saw that, I noticed iPhoto was "finding discrepancies and is now rebuilding my entire library." Am currently repairing permissions and running Intego virus scan. Ideas? Thanks...RalphThanks Kirk and Thomas....I did appear to have a kernel panic. The contents of the panic are shown below. I used disc permissions repair on the internal and external drives and all seem to be ok. iPhoto is completely rebuilt and all is well there. I use Time Machine and a dedicated hard drive for its contents. Been using Macs since my original computer....a brand new Mac II.....this is a new experience. Here's the info displayed on the panic. i am replacing ram in an early 2009 imac. easy - right? but the pulling on the tabs didn't work. i have had the ram sticks out before; but now they don't budge. should i apply more pressure? use a tool to pull harder? will the tabs break off?

the computer has beem working for years after my 1st ram removal; but i may have pushed them back too hard. i did pull firmly - tried pulling up slightly; tried tugging on the sides of the stick; pulling in pulses. the only thing i have not tried is using needle nose plyers with protection on the tab film itself.

Did IOS 7 update. Can't access downloaded movies I rented from iTunes. Matter of fact they don't even show they are there & Rented. How do I get to watch movies I paid to rent?
It seems to be a common problem many Apple TV users are experiencing. I was able to restore to factory settings, update software and reconfigure the Apple TV settings,and then could view one program. However, the solve is only temporary and it is a lengthy process. I'm hoping Apple support can provide a permanent solve soon.

I recently changed my Apple ID and password. Although I thought I was changing my iCloud email which I just learned cannot be changed. I am in the middle of an ugly separation. I just upgraded my old iPhone 4 to a 5s. I have an I pad also. My first completely idiotic thing I did was try to restore my old iPhone 4 in a hurry and I accidently restored it to an earlier day which alone has caused more problems than I care to address. He has access now to all my emails. I wanted to change my iCloud email account since it's been terribly compromised but I can't. And I was very confused when I just tried to log onto my iCloud email and it says his name. I just changed it manually on my iphone5s. But when I try to log on it says I have the wrong password. Tried changing it but it tells me to log onto my Apple ID account and I'm just so confused and I need to wipe that device clean somehow. Please help

The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
