HT4929 Calendar synch after iCloud

Any good third party calendar apps that will sync for those of us who can't use Lion?

It might be possible to fix this by going into Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars and changing Calendars to Sync "All Events". I fixed it the hard way by restoring from backups and also changing that setting.  That left me with duplicate entries for past months, which suggests the old entries weren't lost but stored on iCloud; they just weren't synced to any of my devices. That's not very intuitive behavior, but it's certainly a way it could be implemented.

  • ICal calendar sharing after iCloud transition

iCal calendar sharing after iCloud transition does not work the same. I would like to be able to share a calendar in web view as I was able to before...
I am still able to invite others who have iCloud to see my calendar, but not PC users or others who do not have similar software. I want a url for the calendar soe I can send it to a group to view only. This was possible before the transistion! Please help!

In your iPhone (or iPad) go to settings/general settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars and at the top under "Accounts" you will see "Subscribed Calenars" (not in the calendar section, above that at the top of the page)... click on the calendar you want to delete and do so from there.

  • Calendar missing after iCloud

My husband has always used his iCal on his iPhone and it synced via MobileMe to the iCal on the iMac.
After iCloud, his calendar is on his phone "on my iPhone" but there's a new SECOND calendar - mostly empty, an iCloud calendar. HOWEVER, on the computer, only the iCloud calendar (the one he didn't create) shows up.
How can we merge the "on my iPhone" calendar he uses with the iCloud calendar? Or does he have to go through all his dates and add them to the iCloud calendar?
This whole iCloud thing has been a mess.

Sounds like you had some calendars not only local to your ipad ( "on my ipad" ), but also synced with other accounts - like may be yahoo or gmail. You should be able to get that calendar back by opening calendars app and clicking calendars in top left. Option that you may need to check "show all calendars" - see if that helps. It will also give you an idea what other calendars you have used.

  • ICal calendar missing after synch with iCloud

I am using OS X 10.8.5 and iCal 6.0. When I tried to synch with iCloud it initially got stuck updating the server. After force quiting the program the calendar is now gone. Is there any way to get the missing calendar back?

I have had exactly the same problem - clearly a common problem Apple should be looking at preventing?! Is there any way I can safely activate iCloud calendars etc once I've restored my backed up calendar without everything being erased again? Any help much appreciated, thanks

  • Shared calendars gone after I set up iCloud

My wife and I have a shared calendar. I moved over to the iCloud and now the shared calendar is gone. I tired to re-share the calendar from her calendar that is still on Mobile Me and it would not go through. Is it not possible to share the old MobileMe calendar with an iCLoud calendar?

I was having the same problem as most of you.  I was not able to share my calendars after the move to iCloud from MobileMe, but my wife was.  I am not sure what caused it, whether it was because the calendars were on share with everyone before the move or not.  I did however figure out a way to solve the issue.
1- Open iCal on your Mac, close iCal on the internet (iCloud)
2- On your Mac choose each calendar (right click on name) and choose stop sharing
3- On your Mac choose each calendar ( right click on name), chose sharing settings, then click on button for "only the people you invite", enter person's apple ID/email, click update.
4- reopen iCal calendar on web
5- Choose calendar that wasn't working, now you should have option to add people to share with, and the person you specified in step 3 will already be there.  Hit "resend calendar invitation" (it will be in blue).  The person you sent the invite to will now be able to share your calendar.
Hope this works for all of you the way it worked for me.

  • My calendars are not synching through iCloud

Big frustration: For some reason I can't fathom my iPhone, iPad and Mac are no longer synching when I update a calendar on one of the devices. I've gone into preferences and turned on and off the calendar, deleted the iCloud account and reinstalled, and still nothing. Why is this happening suddenly and what is the best long-term fix. I'm highly dependant on my devices keeping up with my life. Thank you.

We need more info.  Are you saying you've lost all calendar info on all devices, or are the events you had still there, but the problem is with NEW events added on one device not showing up on the others?
Are you having similar problems with the other databases, like contacts and notes?
To check whether a new event from one device is even making it to icloud, log into icloud.com with a computer's browser and look at the calender there.  If the event does not show up, then the device is not sending the data to icloud.  If the event is there, then icloud is not able to send the data to the other device(s).

  • I lost e-mails after synching to iCloud

After synching to iCloud, I lost hundreds of e-mails in Smart Mailbox Folders. I do not have Time Machine. Any thoughts?

Restore them from the most recent backup you made of your contacts stored in the contact manager you sync with through iTunes on your computer (Address Book for Mac, or Outlook for PC)

10.7.5 is not Snow Leopard so we have to wait and see, the answers to the question I asked will define what it really is.

  • Duplicate Calendar Entries after Setting up iCloud

I just installed iOS 5 on my iPhone, and upgraded to the latest and greatest OS X Lion on my iMac to use iCloud. Unfortunately, it appears to have created duplicate entries for all of my calendar entries. Rather than syncing my existing iCal calendars, it looks like it created all new 'iCloud' versions of those same calendars so I have double of everything. (For example, before I had 'Home' and 'Work', etc. now I have 'iCloud Home' and 'iCloud Work') This makes no sense to me...am I just supposed to delete my old calendars and just go with the iCloud ones now? Why wouldn't they automatically do that for you if that's the case? Not very intuitive. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Additionally, from what I can tell, if I create a new entry under one of the iCloud calendars, it WILL show up on my iPhone. However, on my iPhone, I DO NOT have those same 'iCloud Home' calendars listed, just one that says 'All iCloud'. Unfortunately, that means I can't create a new calendar entry that syncs with iCloud. If I create an entry under 'Work' on my iPhone, it DOES NOT sync with iCloud and show up on iCal on my Mac. There is no way this is correct behavior, as that is one of the main benefits of syncinc calendars.
Does anyone have any solutions for these issues? Thank you.

Okay, got it sorted; hopefully this will help others out.
My situation: calendars were working fine on my Mac, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iCloud up until Friday evening when I activated my new 4S.  Then all heck broke loose, and my calendar events started triplicating (quadrupling, in some cases).  The calendars themselves did not, just the events.  I believe what caused it is that I restored my 4S from a backup of my 3GS, and didn't turn off iCloud on the 3GS before doing so.  So the system got confused and started replicating things like mad.  Then I remembered Time Machine!
    Here's the solution:
    1. Backup jacked-up calendars on your Mac (just in case, you can always go back and manually fix them...gag).
    2. Turn off iCloud syncing on your devices (all of them), including your Mac; this will prompt you to delete the data on the devices, and that's okay (take a deep breath...)
    3. You should now have no calendar data on any device; it should only reside out on iCloud; verify this by logging into the site and checking
    4. In Finder, navigate to <you_user_dir>/Library and make sure you have a Calendars folder (hold Option and click the Go menu and you'll see it the Library folder...they hid it in Lion); don't open the folder, just make sure it's there
    5. From the Library folder, enter Time Machine and select a date you know was working (in my case, I had to go back to before Wednesday to make sure iCloud was not in use on my machine at the time, you might have to do the same, depending on when you started using iCloud)
    6. Click the magic Restore button in the lower right-hand corner; you'll be fast-forwarded to the same folder in the present, and asked if you want to replace or keep the duplicate items; choose Replace
    7. After the copy is done, open iCal; you should see all your events restored to their normal glory
    8. Log into the iCloud.com website and nuke all of your calendars; yes, you read that right, kill them all...or you'll be back at square one. Because you have to have at least one calendar, I created one called "junk" and left it in there temporarily
    9. Back on your Mac desktop, go to System Preferences and turn on Calendars in the iCloud control panel; if you have iCal open still, you might have a freak-out moment where everything disappears (I did...).  Don't panic, this is normal; if you look at the website, you'll see your calendars start appearing there, and shortly the same will hold true for iCal on your Mac
    10. Once you've confirmed that everything looks spiffy, delete the "junk" folder on iCloud.com
    11. One device at a time (I did my 4S first, then my iPad 2), turn on iCloud for Calendar syncing; just to be careful, let each device finish updating before you turn on the next (it probably doesn't matter, but I'm paranoid at this point).
    12. Voila, you should now have all calendars in sync across all your devices, your Mac, and iCloud.com
Hopefully this helps some people out; it's the only way I could get it to work and restore my calendars back to a useable state.
    Take care!

  • IPhone4 to iCloud Calendar Synch Issues

I have an iPhone 4 and have recently setup an iCloud account to synch my calendar and contacts. Contacts are OK. Calendar OK on iPhone, but I have quite a few missing entries in iCloud (verified by browser on iCloud.com). Is there a way to force a re-synch? Thanks...

    Thanks Winston,
I am starting to see a pattern...If, as you suggest, I make sure the calendars I am using are only in my 'iCloud' account (by clicking the Calendars button in the top left corner of the iPhone Calendar application), then the iPhone Calendar and the iCloud Calendar (via icloud.com on a browser) appear to be in synch.  However, I note that I have (consistent) missing entries across my iPhone and iCloud.
I used to back-up my iPhone calendar to my Mac iCal app, via iTunes.
It is clear to me that the missing entries are on (or are assumed to be on) the Mac calendar, because if I switch the 'From My Mac' calendar on (on my iPhone), then the iPhone calendar entries are correct but I am then back to having missing calendar entries in iCloud. Prior to your helpful comments, the ‘Calendars’ checked on my iPhone were the ‘From My Mac’ and the ‘iCloud’ ones. Also, I am fairly sure that that I had the iPhone Default calendar setting as ‘From My Mac’ for a while.
I no longer use the Mac iCal app, as my iPhone calendar back-up is taken care of via iCloud (or will be when I get it all working!).
I do not currently synch my Mac iCal calendar with iCloud.  Is this the only way to get everything working properly or is there a more simple approach?
I am guessing that the best approach would be to synch the iPhone to the Mac’s iCal calendar via iTunes. Then, delete the calendar entries on iCloud and the iPhone.  Next, re-synch the Mac’s iCal calendar to the iPhone, via iTunes.  Finally, remove all Mac calendar settings from the iPhone and synch the iPhone calendar to iCloud, with the default calendar being iCloud.

  • Calendar is not syncing after iCloud

Calendar is not syncing after iCloud

I've had this problem ever since I got ICloud, months ago. I finally decided to sit at my computer all day until I figured it out and I finally found the answer!
It's just a setting in Outlook-- a hard to find setting! I've given the link below, but also pasted the instructions here. Need to re-start and wait a few minutes for the changes to take place, but it worked for me! On this same page are also instructions for other apps and devices.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/enable-or-disable-add-ins-in-offi ce-programs-HA010034127.aspx
    Outlook
On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Add-ins.
View the add-ins and application extensions that are categorized as follows:
Active Application Add-ins     Lists the extensions that are registered and currently running in your Office program.
Inactive Application Add-ins     Lists the add-ins that are present on your computer but are not currently loaded. For example, smart tags or XML Schemas are active only when the document that references them is open. Another example is the COM add-ins that are listed in the COM Add-ins dialog box. If the check box for a COM add-in is selected, the add-in is active. If the check box for a COM add-in is cleared, the add-in is inactive. To learn how to open the COM Add-in dialog box, see the section called Turn off or manage the installed add-ins.
Document Related Add-ins     Lists template files that are referenced by currently open documents.
Disabled Application Add-ins     Lists add-ins that were automatically disabled because they are causing Office programs to crash.
If you find "ICloud Outlook ADd-in" is listed in "Disabled Add-Ins",  click to highlight it, and then find  "MANAGE: COM Add-ins" below and click "Go".
You will then see a list of all "Add-ins". Make sure ICloud Outlook Add-in is checked.
You should now see it moved from "Disabled" to "Inactive". Restart your computer and it should become active. It will take a few minutes to sync once you restart and open Outlook.

Web app for icloud calendar synchs fine with ipad and iphone.  iCal on my Mac desktop doesn't synch in either direction.  Deleted icloud account on mac and installed it again.  No joy.  Constant "Calendar - Updating" message at top of ical screen with no progress after 1 hour.
