I want to be able to update info in Numbers by either iPhone, iPad or MacBook Air.  Do I need to purchase Numbers separately for MacBook Air?

Yes.  Numbers for the Mac is a different program than the app for the iPhone and iPad.  It can be purchased from the Mac App store.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iTunes and iCloud are different accounts. You can both use the same ID for the store login and share your music etc., and use different ID's to log in to iCloud, thereby keeping your calendars etc separate.

  • My client wants to be able to update certain parts of their website themselves. What are my options?

Hello to all and thanks in advance for any help or thoughts anyone has on this subject.
I am a new web designer with 3 sites under my belt. I am working on 3 more at the same time.
My newest client is a restaurant/dinner theater with a menu and schedule that changes every week/month and sometimes night to night. They would like me to design the basic layout and content of their site but enable them to make changes to certain pages on the fly. In other words, if there is a nightly special on the menu that changes, or the entertainment cancels last minute, they can update the website themselves without having to contact me.
They are also interested in a "picture page" which they could update from time to time.
I confess I am at a loss where to proceed, short of simply giving them the ftp information and a short lesson in basic html so they could edit the pages themselves in IE or FF and then upload the changes.
Anyone have any thoughts, ideas or experience or can point me in the right direction to find help in this matter??
    Thanks so much!!!

    Hi,

I thought I could pick the info on my itunes in computer but apparently the update broke the itunes program as well: it says that some elemets are missing... does someone have an idea??? THANKS SOOO MUCH!

Contacts and calendar events aren't backed up? That's a complete load of hokey. They are backed up, and I ran into a similar problem and recovered them FROM the backup. Here's my post:

  • I am not able to update my i pad

I am not able to update my i pad

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

  • Am I able to update someone elses ipod

I have my own ipod, ipad and my granddaughter's ipod on my own computer and there is no problem there.
I have another granddaughter, who lives far away, who is coming to visit me this weekend and she has asked me if I can update her new ipod which she got for Christmas as she has limited access to a computer.
This will already be registered to her and while I know the limitations on music transfers I just want to be able to update her ipod to iOS 5. Am I able to do this.

Yes.  However, unless you move all the synced media (music, apps, synced photos and videos) to your computer, the media will be lost.  See:
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5
Also, she can no longer sycy to her own computer unless she hass all the media on that computer and then makes a backup on her and computer and then restores from that backup.

  • HT4906 I want to download the new updates I think to the 10.9 but our mac was given to us and when it comes to the last page it asks for the user name and password but this mac was wiped clean. How do I find out this info so I can get iPhoto?

I want to download the new updates I think to the 10.9 but our mac was given to us and when it comes to the last page it asks for the user name and password but this mac was wiped clean. How do I find out this info so I can get iPhoto? To be honest I'm not even sure what type of Mac I have and don't know how to find out what kind it is
I'd also like to make address labels and don't know where to find that either

You would make address lables with the Contacts app.
If you don't have the user name and password used to set up the machine then you need to purchase the apps for yourself.

  • How can I update my iWeb blog from multiple computers/iPhone/iPad?

I want to be able to update my iWeb website and blog when I am not at home.
I tried making a copy of the iWeb folder from the Library folder. This did not work.
How I wished it would work......
iWeb should work like Aperture, and iPhoto. I mean when I am at a friends computer I can open Aperture with my files and not theirs by choosing the Library file initializing the software. Why can't iWeb be configured to do this?
Is there a way to update iWeb created websites when away from my home computer?

...is a free, cross-platform, remote desktop system that you can use to access your Mac from almost any system. You could log in to LogMeIn, open iWeb and edit & publish your site remotely via your home system. Note that LogMeIn is downloaded only to the Mac you want to remotely control — your office computer needs nothing new. See HERE.
...for iPhone and iPod touch provides instant one-click access to your LogMeIn computers, directly from your Apple device. Make your iPhone or iPod touch an extension of your work or home computer:
    • Use a program that's on your office computer
    • View a photo on your home desktop
    • Help a friend troubleshoot his or her computer
    • All from the palm of your hand, from wherever you are.

  • I am moving to Alice Springs, Australia, this summer from the U.S. I would like to get the new iPad. How can I found out if I will be able to access all the functionality in Alice? Will I need to purchase a local plan of some sort?

I am moving to Alice Springs, Australia, this summer from the U.S. I would like to get the new iPad to use while traveling back and forth from the U.S. to Australia, and within Australia. How can I found out if I will be able to access all the functionality of the iPad in Alice? Will I need to purchase a local plan of some sort? I have never owned an Apple product before -- I'm a newby!

Aside form the limitation of LTE to the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands (which rules out LTE in Europe I gather, at least as it stands now) the new iPad should let you use a GSM 3g/2g/edge network anywhere.  The CDMA Verizon model will only be able to use it's native CDMA radio band in the USA (that radio will be locked to Verizon), but it's international GSM radio is the same as the AT&T model.
Keep in mind though that by far the cheapest option when abroad is to take advantage of free wifi as much as possible (well, that is always the cheapest option, since it is free).  I know several people who have taken their wifi-only iPads and iPad2s to Europe and said they did not find the lack of 3G really inconvenient at all as most towns had plenty of free or cheap wifi access all over the place.
And in 3 years, your iPad will be at least 2-3 generations behind, LTE will have already been replaced by 5G or whatever the next new generation of cellular ends up being named (and the "young" kids will be wondering what the heck 3G even means or meant - dang that stuff was from the olden days!), and you can pitch that ancient piece of technology and start things all over again

You need to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but don't need to go past 10.6.8 to run the current version of Flash.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.
