HT4946 Do Voicemails back up?

I am transferring from Iphone 4 to Iphone 5. Will my voicemails transfer over?

When one restores an iPhone from its own backup, visual voicemail is also restored. However, when one restores a new iPhone from a backup from a previous phone, the voicemails fail to restore. This occurred between my 3G to 4s, and again from the 4s to a 5s. Restoring the 4s once from its own backup resulted in voicemail recovery.
My only explanation is that when a different SIM card is used, voicemails cannot restore as one would otherwise expect. Perhaps voicemails are inexplicably tied to their SIMs. Unfortunately, newer models of iPhones tend to use exceedingly different sizes, rendering one possible fix unpursuable. iBackupBot is the other possible solution: you can extract the voicemails from the backup and restore them onto the new iPhone individually.

how do I get my visual voicemail back on my iPhone 4?

I have same question.  I have a preowned phone (replace one I jumped in pool with) and when I hit the voicemail button it calls voicemail and brings up the keypad screen.  I hate not seeing my list of v/m's.  Has been this way since I got it/put my sim card into the phone  (iPhone4)

  • HT4946 Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer. I deleted pictures from my iPhone and added then to the ipad, but now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?

Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer running Mountain Lion. Our desktop still runs Tiger, so I purchased the 3rd generation iPad with 64 gb thinking it had had plenty of room to backup my iPhone photos. I used a camera connection kit and transferred about 1100 old photos from my camera roll on my iPhone to my ipad.  I then deleted pictures from my iPhone and now my camera roll has only 357 photos. However, in the Settings, under "About" it says I have 2147 photos. Why? I only have a total of 216 photos in all my albums. However, now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not?  Any help, any advice, appreciated please! I spent a long time on the phone with Apple today and they couldn't solve the problem.

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage.

  • HT4946 how to back up 2 iPhone different number same family plan

hey my roommates and her daughter have 2 iphone under the same plan with ATT  with 2 differents number  they want to back up their phone on my laptop is macbook pro 10.9.1
theirs adress book got all mess up they need to divide them  so they ask me how to do it and can they do that  with each each person having their own account and password
    i need some help please

You can backup more than one device on the same computer. iTunes will be able to tell the difference between the devices, but you need to watch the settings in iTunes to ensure that automatic sync is not turned on, an that all you do is backup or you could mess up more than just their contacts if you are syncing to the same computer.

  • HT4946 I accidently backed up my I Pad 2 to my computer and when trying to restore it, it asks for a password that I never set.

I connected my iPad 2 to my Windows 7 computer through iTunes. At this moment it began to back up without me realising. After I was finished transferring a movie, I have discovered that all my music has disappeared. Thanks in advance.

If you do not know the password for the encryption, the backup cannot be used.
Backing up the device has absolutely nothing to do with having media on the device.  Backups have never included the media on the device.

  • HT4946 Help with backing up iphone!!

Where do all my contacts get backed up to? Everything appears encrypted though I opted not to encrypt. I'm so lost.

Contacts are not stored in iTunes. Contacts are part of the backup for the purpose of maintaining your favorites list and recent calls. You should be syncing your contacts to a compatible address book on your computer or to a cloud service. That is where you can find them.

  • Why are voicemails backed up but not restored?

I got an iPhone 5S and created an iTunes backup of my i5 to transfer over.  Everything except voicemails are sent over.
Out of 40 voicemails, only 5 or so are transferred.  Basically only the voicemails that are live on AT&T have transferred, im assuming the rest auto deleted themsevles (I think AT&T only retains them for a short time).  However I've taken a backup extractor and can see ALL of my message are indeed present in the backup.  I know I can export them to my PC but is there any way to get them to restore to my new device?

  • HT4946 how to back up music

I have a new iphone 5 which I added files to from my iphone3gs backup. When I made the 3G backup, the file was right on my desktop with easy to find files.
I just loaded office and itunes on my new laptop and tried to do a backup of the now fully functioning iphone5.
I can't find the backup and can't copy any of my non-itunes store purchased music onto the laptop itunes.

The music sync is one way -  computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.
You should copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • HT4946 when i back up my ipad to my laptop, i specifically want to get the books i have bought. Where do they show up on the backup?? (on my laptop)

I have bought a new ipad3 and have downloaded books on my old ipad2 - how do i get them from one to the other.......(the app is downloaded, but the books didn't come with it..)

If they are ibooks bought/downloaded from Apple then you can either copy them from your old iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases and you can then sync them to the iPad via the device's Books tab - or you should be able to re-download them for free directly on the new iPad.

  • Voicemail list was erased in iOS7.  Any way to get this back???

I have an iPhone 4s and just recently (like everyone else) updated to iOS7.  The only problem I've had is after the upgrade, my voicemail list was completely gone.   In iOS6, there was a list of voicemails you had saved.  It isn't just that the individual voicemails are erased, it's that the list is no longer there period.   When I open my voicemail, all it does is dial into my voicemail and ask for my password (something that never happened with any previous update).  When I put in my password, I expected the voicemail to be set up and the list re-populate.  That didn't happen and I'm still prompted to enter my password each time.
Any ideas on how to fix this?  Or how to get my voicemails back?  Or at the very least, get the list view back?
    Thanks.
