HT4946 Does my iPhone need to have service to be able to back up to my computer - I have no mobile service at home?
I am trying to back up my iPhone to my home computer howver I dont have service to my mobile at home - is this why I cant seem to do it?
Ok - thanks for clearing up the service issue - I didnt have any error messages however I have just disconnected and reconnected the phone and I seem to be able to back up and sync so all good now - thanks very much for your help

It should have backed up automatically at the start of the update process. And you should be saving photos from your phone to your computer regularly, just like you would with any digital camera. If you were not doing this you MAY lose the photos, but if your backup at the start of the update was successful you will not. Just DO NOT sync after the update, until you have restore the backup and verified that it is OK.
What error message did you get during the update? Before you restore do the following:
Reboot your computer
Connect to a USB port on the computer directly, not a hub
disable your antivirus and firewall
Launch iTunes
Finally, connect the phone and restore. -

I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple. -
Hi, does my iPhone need to be on the left side of my body to work well with the Nike+ sensor in my shoes? I used it on my right side and the calibration was so off point. I recently got a Bluetooth headphone and the antennae is on the right ear piece. For seamless connection am required to have my iPhone on my right arm if am using the headphone outdoors.
I was wondering this too. Did you ever get an answer? I just bought a non-nike pair of sneakers and have a pod pouch now on my laces. I have it tight, at the lower part of the laces so its flat. When its on the left side my time is very similar to what it was when I used the nike shoes. When it is on the right side, my time is about 35sec/mile higher. I wonder which is more accurate and if you are supposed to have them on the same side. If so, then that is as accurate as with my nike shoes. Hope we get an answer soon. Im about to return everything its so frustrating.

I was just talking w/a friend & she was telling me how she put her home computer's virus protection onto her phone. Idk why, but I've never thought about a smartphone needing virus protection. Does my iPhone need virus protection software installed? If so, which ones are the best??
There is no virus protection software for iPhone, as there are no viruses to protect you against.
Plus, your friend can not have put her home computer's virus protection onto her phone - it couldn't be installed, as phone's use different operating systems to home computers and cannot run the same software. -

If you buy an iPhone from another country, the warranty and service can only be handled in the country where it has been bought. Since Apple does not sip internationally, you'll have to bring the iPhone back in person or send it to someone who can do that for you in the USA.

Why does my iPhone need every time to be hard-reset after charging?
Every time I fully charge my iPhone 6 Plus it turns off and doesn't want to turn on normally: I have to reset it every time by pressing the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button for a couple of seconds.
Also, sometimes after leaving it in sleep mode, when I wake the iPhone I find it having restarted alone without me doing anything: it asks me to type again the PIN number of my SIM card, as if it had just been turned on.
What can I do?
is it a battery or a iOs issue?I think you need to talk to App tech. If you were sent a forced upgrade, it forces the phone to reboot when it hits 100% charge. Problem is after update and/or restore, it continues to do the reboot after you hit 100% battery capacity.
I have 6 phones that do the same. The tech guys don't believe me or they do not want to admit they have a problem with the forced update.
It left me stranded without my phone and the data in it while I was away. Bought a android phone for a back-up but may keep it as a main.
It seems if you want to carry your phone now-a-days, you better carry a laptop with iTunes in case there is a issue.
This whole thing is getting out-of-control as I spend more time servicing my phone than it spends servicing me. Which was the reason for not connecting to iTunes and updating it and then my phone every other month. So what do I get, forced update and inoperable phones.
If you can get it connected and set again, don't let it charge to 100% again and it will be fine. Otherwise see apple.
Who owns these phones anyway? It certainly is not me. -
I changed my password on my computer a few weeks back. Since then my iphone 5s will not let me know when I have a new email. In order to get my emails I have to push the mail icon, wait for it to connect and check to see if there are any new emails. Upon doing this, my emails will come through. I went to the Apple store today and they tried putting in my new password on my iphone. When I left the store they had accomplished what I went in for. After getting home, I noticed I had not been receiving any email notices. Pressed email icon and there were 2 emails waiting to be opened. Checked password on iphone and it had reverted back to old password. I have deleted my Yahoo account 3 times, changed password and it still goes back to the old one. All this is quit frustrating since I don,t live in Chandler and have to travel 40 miles, one way, to see a Genius about the same problem.
But it is I jsut can sync, back up files, or anything becuase its stuck at this screene and wont do execute when i click either of those button

hi the slider to unlock bar is not working.... how can i sort this problem i have tried to restart the phone and the slide to turn off button does not work either ,,,, i cant reinstall or factory restart and back up as i have a pin code on my phone...... help asap pretty please
Do you not have the photos in your iPhoto Library on your computer? If they are not on the computer then you never synced your phone to the computer so they would be transferred. If that's the case, then they are lost.

I have and Ipod touch 3G and it has a message in Red saying "Ipod is disabled for 16,333 minutes"
I did not have it backed up to a computer and it has 122 books on tape installed on it so I don't want to erase the whole thing and start trying to download all the books on it again.
I am just trying to get to the IPOD passcode screen.

I'm having issues syncing my iPod today! I sync once a week, I've got the latest version of iTunes, but today it tells me that it won't back up to my computer, WHY? Since updating iTunes, it keeps coming up with a separate error message about not being authorised for the library thing, after I've synced/used iTunes... Oh & it point blank refused to recognise my iPad to sync. It's driving me potty :(
I dislike technology on occasions... I shut down iTunes, plugged my iPad back in & NOW it decides to sync!!! No error messages...and then it syncs my iPod with no problems as well!!! It seems that I can't start iTunes, play music & then decide to sync the toys. I HAVE to just plug in the iPod/iPad and let it start up all by itself. How irritating! Thank you for responding!
