Some data may be saved per the article. There is a bullet there, for example, that says "Application settings, preferences and data ..."

HT4946 in-app purchases are backed up but what about the apps themselves (purchased and free)?
While creating a back-up by via iTunes (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US), in-app purchases are backed up (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946) but what about the apps themselves (purchased and free)?
Are the apps backed up too or do they need to be purchased, downloaded and installed again?You can transfer your purchases to computer iTunes.
Connect and select iPhone in iTunes under DEVICES, right click and choose Transfer Purchases from ...
BTW, you can alway re-download again for free if it's still available in the app store. -
HT4946 "List View" in Calendar!!??!?!?!?
Am I the only one who wants "List View" back in the new Calendar App?!?!?? This is sooooo frustrating! In iOS7 when it was only available under the "search" option, that was annoying. But now, with iOS7.1, Apple has removed it all together!!!
Thank you for your nice reply. Well, I didn't realize this particular thread was about this List View problem in the iPhone -- I've spent about half an hour reading similar complaints in other threads about iOS 7 in general.
The Search icon is a Search icon, not a List View icon for the List View function. The Search icon annoyingly opens up the keyboard, which I don't need to have a look (View) of upcoming events. Secondly, the pseudo list view that appears does NOT code the events by calendar color.
I bet you a 128GB iPad Air that this limitation is annoying to, yes, thousands of iPad users. It's not arrogance, it's purely statistics, since there are literally millions of iOS 7 users in the world.
Briefly, instead of restoring a very simple List View option, what Apple is telling thousands of customers is: "You don't NEED a list view in your iPad anymore. But if you believe you do, click on an icon which is not for a list, but for Search, and which will open a keyboard that you don't need, close the keyboard, and try to guess which calendar the events that will appear belong to -- personal, professional, holidays... you name it! However (Apple continues) if you have an iOhone, you DO NEED a specific icon for an event list. Or, else, waste your time trying to find a roundabout way to do what a few months ago, in the Old Times of iOS 6, you used to do with a click".
That's Apple's (il)logic for its mistakes, and the rest is just justifications. -
how do I delete my old phone from my icloud storage. when I try it says "cannot delete backup-This backup cannot be deleted becasue it is in use"
and my new one is listed but has 0KB (my old on has 4.5 and I cannot even back up because it says storage is full!!)I have the same problem here and it wont let me do another back up or delete the old one.... Please help!!!! Anyone

Look in whatever software on your computer handles your contacts and photos. Neither will be part of the backup file. This may be of help:

i got my new iPhone 5 and i connected it to my iTunes on mac and it ask me if i want to setup as new iPhone or restore backup and i restore back up but now i want to delete backup and set up as new iPhone, is the anyhow?
The iCloud backup includes most things except non-iTunes purchased but the iTunes backup does not include those either. For what iCloud includes see:

I connected my wifi to my iMac and was asked if I wanted to download the most current update. I backed up my iPod and did the download. My iPod was able to connect to the internet at my friend's house, but it hasn't been able to connect since then, and the connection to wifi is grayed out. Nothing has changed with the network; just the updated software.

Please help.First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -

You can continue to use the current AppleID for iTunes, but your husband can create a new AppleID to use to create a new iCloud account that will be his own and not overlap with yours. If you do not have another email address to use for an AppleID, just get a free Gmail account and use that.
You can have as many AppleIDs as you want (or at least, as many as you have email addresses for). You can use a separate AppleID for the store, another for iCloud, and even another for iMessage if you wish.
You will want to keep the current one as the shared one for the store as all your previous purchases are permanently tied to it, and thus you need that AppleID to update or redownload your current purchased content. -
Does anyone know how to access sms text messages from iphone 5c backup from icloud or itunes? Apparently SMS can be restored so data I need must be stored in backup. I need to print a series of abusive/threatening SMS messages received on my iphone 5c from one sender. I need the time, date & whatever data is stored about source/sender of messages, as well as content. How can I access this data to create a chronological record of the abusive SMS messages and can I preserve the iphone's message log specifically-- so I can access records of these texts without having to restore a back-up? I need to do this to provide evidence for my solicitor and preserve that evidence for future court proceedings, thank you.

HT4946 How can I restore just the contacts from a backup?
I had to restore my computer to factory settings as it would not download any new apps from iTunes. I now want to restore my contacts. I do not want to restore settings, etc. as these may have been the source of the problem.
I don't want to sync all my windows contacts, just the ones I had on the phone. I can't find a way of doing this Can you help?You have to restore the entire backup. You can restore the backup, then back up your contacts using an app like My Contacts Backup. Then restore it as new again and use this backup to re-import the contacts to your phone.

HT4946 how can i restore an older back up of iTunes?
I needed to completely reset my ipad to factory settings as I could no longer email photos..tried to reinstall mail, reset network etc etc.....
Anyway, before doing that i did a backup. But when I restored the backup, I lost all the apps and cannot find them anywhere in the Windows 8 folders and in any case I am not sure how I would get them back. Of course, unplugging and replugging the iPad now means that my 'backup' is of the iPad with missing apps - thanks Apple. However, I do have a copy of all the files / backup a few months ago when I made copies of EVERYthing before going to Windows 8.

Can I back up my iPhone 4S to my ipad 3 (64 gb)? I do not have a computer running Mountain Lion. Our desktop still runs Tiger, so I purchased the 3rd generation iPad with 64 gb thinking it had had plenty of room to backup my iPhone photos. I used a camera connection kit and transferred about 1100 old photos from my camera roll on my iPhone to my ipad. I then deleted pictures from my iPhone and now my camera roll has only 357 photos. However, in the Settings, under "About" it says I have 2147 photos. Why? I only have a total of 216 photos in all my albums. However, now I don't have enough space in iCloud to backup either device. Why not? Any help, any advice, appreciated please! I spent a long time on the phone with Apple today and they couldn't solve the problem.

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage. -

Can you combine 2 sites previously separated on IWEBSITES?
I have 2 different sites that I had separated using IWEBSITES. Now that Iweb 08 had destroyed using the two sites, I want to just combine them back to one. I tried using the button on IWEBSITES but it doesn't work. Is there a way to cut and paste fro
