HT4946 how can i restore an older back up of iTunes?

I needed to completely reset my ipad to factory settings as I could no longer email photos..tried to reinstall mail, reset network etc etc.....
Anyway, before doing that i did a backup. But when I restored the backup, I lost all the apps and cannot find them anywhere in the Windows 8 folders and in any case I am not sure how I would get them back. Of course, unplugging and replugging the iPad now means that my 'backup' is of the iPad with missing apps - thanks Apple. However, I do have a copy of all the files / backup a few months ago when I made copies of EVERYthing before going to Windows 8.
Can i recover that information somehow? Thanks in advance!

No, you have to erase the device to restore from iCloud backup.
Restoring form backup is all stuff, yo can't select what to restore

I'm using Numbers on my iPad and my Macbook.
Yesterday I opened my Macbook and for some reason it opened the Numbers app but didn't sync.
I didn't really need to work on the file so I just left it open.
A few hours later I wanted to do some work on my iPad.
It prompted me with a "there's a newer version on your Macbook" and asked me if I want to sync to that version.
I actually forgot I didn't do any work on my computer and tapped on the sync button.
Now I lost all of the information since before the sync.
How can I restore the older version on the iPad - before the sync?

How can I restore the 2 security questions at the iTunes account in case I forgot my original answers?

Even though I have a credit card I manage my iTunes account use gift cards. I prefer to keep the credit card for emergency purposes only since it's too easy for me to get carried away with it and run up the balance.
The problem here is in the Canadian iTunes Store you _can not_ use store credits for software or game purchase. According to this post - http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=231967 - it is apparently against Canadian tax laws and commerce restrictions to purchase these with store credits or gift cards. Also as suggested in other posts here using PayPal to add credits to your iTunes account will not work since they are credits.
I don't really understand the issue here. I pay cash for my store credits and I pay cash to pay off my credit card. My gift cards were probably bought with a credit card. This will restrict sales in Canada since I would guess the majority of iPod owners are too young to obtain a credit card.

As a former Mobileme member, my free storage plan was reduced to 5Gb on 1 Oct 2013. Before that, I had around 5.2Gb of iCloud backup size. A nice phone call to Apple usually results in a replacement disk being sent to you.
I understand your intention is to give this computer away. If you were selling it, not having the original install disks dramatically lowers its value.

During today's operating system update on my iPhone 5, something went wrong. The update didn't work, and the phone was restored to factory settings.
I went to restore my latest backup - fully expecting that the latest connection and sync backed everything up prior to the software update. Unfortunately, iTunes actually backed up the post-restore to factory settings instead of the backup created earlier in the day. As a result, I am without my photos, text messages, updated contacts, etc.
How can I find and restore this morning's backup instead of this afternoon's factory default backup?

Well, the level of pain you are about to experience will hinge on what level of backup you have of the phone. If none, you will soon have a blank, from-factory phone you will have to reconfigure from scratch.

How can I restore my ringtones files after an iTune software update?

This has really upset me but I can't find anyone to help. If you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have create a bunch of ringtones and they have been showing up fine on my iTune and synced to my iPhone without any problem. Recently, i have replaced my iPhone. One time the iTune asked me to relocate the library file when i started the application. Then I chose the latest library file in my system. After i did it, I realized that the ringtones are not on my iPhone anymore and they are all gone on my iTune.
I tried to go in to the Windows files and look for those ringtone files but i have no clue where they are and how to identify them.
How can i check if they might be hidden somewhere or they have been lost mysteriously?

Thanks for the reply.
I had been to that page during my search for solutions but found it a bit confusing, although I did create a new profile but didn't understand the choose folder part.
I re-read the instructions and I have been able to restore my old profile.
So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Re: running my Firefox from a non-administrator account
I think this may have been the cause of the profile problem.
I.e. when I selected 'Choose a folder' when creating the new profile, the default folder path was Administrator> etc., where as my old profile was not there, but in Username> etc. folder path...
I understand browsing from a non-administrator account is the sensible security option, but is causes other problems when installing updates...
