not able to restore the backup of iphone 5 to iphone 5s , itunes shows a error ager comleting 75 % backup , data is corrupted or not compatible with the attached device , please help me as ther eis important data is saved in the backup.
Restore the device as new, sync the desired content to the device.

Two different operating systems.
It has nothing to do with the phones running different operating systems. Bluetooth is a platform independent standard. It's all due to the different Bluetooth profiles each device incorporates. iPhones do not have the file transfer profile. -

I cracked my screen recently so I went in to the store to get a new one. Everything was going great until I hit the wrong button and now everything is lost. Is there any way I can get a previous iCloud backup on my phone?
You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

If your backup is newer than the iOS on the phone, you cannot restore from that backup until you update the iOS on the phone first. So is your backup from a newer iOS than what is on the phone? If so, update the phone and then restore from the backup.

Thankyou.Yes, you can get the data onto a new iPhone. When you first turn it on, you will need to go through the setup screens, one of which asks if you want to restore from a backup. I had an iPhone 4 and just got a new 5c. I backed up my 4 to icloud as i dont't own a laptop. I bought 20GB of storage and everything seemed to work. When I set up new iPhone i selected 'Restore from iCloud Back up' as I need old contacts on this new phone HOWEVER, I do not want all photos on new phone as I donot have enough space and they will fill up my memory. They are already in my iCloud so I shouldn't need them on new phone. I didn't see any option to just restore data rather than media and so photo stream is downloading constantly but wont finish as there is not enough space on phone. How can I just restore contacts to new phone and not pictures? My other option could be to set up as new iphone, but if I do this can I then download the contacts from my icloud seperately?
Going slowly insane.You can't restore only part of the backup. Only camera roll photos are stored in the backup and they will have to be restored as part of restoring the entire backup. Photo stream photos are not stored in the backup; photo stream photos from the last 30 days will stream to your new phone when it signs into your iCloud account. You can stop this by turning off my photo stream in Settings>iCloud>Photos.
The other thing you should be aware of is that you can't have photos in iCloud that are not also on your phone. If you delete them from your phone, they will be deleted from iCloud. -

you could try restoring from the backup again. It's possible that your restore got interrupted, so it would be a good idea to attempt another restore. if that doesn't fix it, like if you restore and see that all of your settings were the same as they were on the old device, but the pictures still aren't there, it's possible the photos were never stored in the backup in the first place

Encrypted backup?

If the backup you're trying to restore from is encrypted, you will not be able to use that backup if you can't remember the encrypted backup passcode.
If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover the passcode from your Keychain. Otherwise, your backup data is unrecoverable.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups, & restore your phone as a new device.
You delete your existing backups here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices. -

There are two ways that a backup can become encrypted:
You chose to encrypt it, then forgot the password.
If you have company-provided MS Exchange access your IT department has the option of requiring your backup to be encrypted. The first time you backed up or synced after installing MS Exchange you were prompted for a password. That is the password you need.
If you don't have the password any longer there is no way to restore the backup.
