HT4946 My ipad is saying to connect to itunes but I did and it says ipad is in process of recoveryso must restore and that all media will be lost. I have textbooks for school in kindle app on ipad, will they be erased?
I was trying to download an app on ipad2 when it said i had to download latest version of software by connecting to itunes My ipad 2 is stuck on screen saying connect to Itunes but once i do then itunes says it is trying to recover the ipad and gives me two choices either to restore to factory and all media will be erased or to cancel and stay stuck without use of ipad2. Im worried about trying to restore to factory because my college textbooks are in my kindle app on that ipad and I CANT LOSE THEM! Please help
Try restarting everything and then try to sync or reactivate. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, reboot your iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

but one fix is to shut it down completely ... then press and hold BOTH the power button and the home button .. hold both of those 4 ten seconds .. then release the power button but still hold down the home button .. and then it'll show something that says "connect to itunes" once u get it connected to itunes , click the restore button ... BEWARE THIS WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPOD!!! IT WILL RESTORE IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS , AS IF U JUST BOUGHT IT !!!!! then it should work fine again .. but u will lose all data on there besides the things you have synced with itunes already..
Thats y im iffy with doing this , im trying to find a fix where i wont have 2 restore it but i dont think there is 1 :'(

I went to do the latest update on my iphone 4s, and it said to connect to itunes so I did and continued to click restore and then it updated my phone through itunes. Then after about 40 minutes of it updating it still has the connect to itunes screen on. It won't go away and I have tried restarting and turning off my phone various ways various times. I don't know what to do!
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

My iPod touch 4th generation says on the screen to connect to iTunes. When i connected it to iTunes, it says i must restore my ipod for it to work. However, I have over 6,000 pictures that I've taken over the past two years that i do not want to lose. What do I do? Elitegate, the poster siad his iPod has the Connect To iTune screen, You can't backup the iPod when in that mode.

The problem is your friend's music does not belong to you. It is owned by your friend.
I'm afraid you cannot do what you are trying to do. Restoring the iPhone is what you would have to do.
In the future, put your music on the computer and transfer it to the iPhone, not the other way. -
I need help updating my iphone. After I upgraded the software, it then told me to connect to itunes. I have updated my itunes, and then connected. then a box popped up saying my iphone is corrupted... what do i do now? i also deleted my iphone backup in the device section of itunes. i got that info off of reading other post about this problem.
uhoh, i can't remember, the window that had the message is gone now. i deleted the back up on itunes and when i just tried again, its now saying its will take 400 plus hours .... i think i've really screwed up now

I can't contact support directly because I need my serial number to enter chat. You access the serial number on the phone under settings. I can't because the phone won't turn on, it just says connect to iTunes. I can't call for support, because again, the phone doesn't work and I don't have a landline. Is there no way to avoid losing all my contacts, texts and pictures?!? I'm freaking out.
Your iPhone is in recovery mode.
Anything that you did not back up has been lost already.
You need to restore the phone using iTunes. You can restore from a backup once the software is reinstalled.

2. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
3. Make sure Time Zone is correct
4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.
