The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. If that media is not in the iTunes library then it is gone after the update/restore.

I just did the update on my iPod touch 5th gen to version 8.1.2 and now it gets stuck in sync on applying changes. I am afraid to reset my iPod as the last time I had an iPod and needed to be reset the iPod never came back to life.

I have to delete the e-mail accounts and then add them back in so that I can receive and send e-mails. What has caused this and how can I eliminate this from happening in the future when I sync? carolYes, I find it strange, too but it has happened both times I have synched the Touch in the past week. iTunes was updated right before the first time this happened. I have Verizon for my e-mail and it would not work on the Touch but I was able to send and receive emails on my desk top. It is frustrating to say the least to spend time deleting and then adding the e-mail accounts to the Touch.

Remember, just in case someone tells you to "Google" it and download software that's online, it won't work as you have to had bought this from Apple, and of course, it would be stealing.

I just got my iPod touch, I updated my iTunes and my iPod is still not showing up in iTunes. It is telling me the required software is not installed even though my iTunes is up to date
