HT4972 cannot update ipad on windows 7 done everything it just will not connect to update server

the itunes update  server could not be contacted .Please check your internet connection or try again later . this is as far as i get and my pc is on internet

Might be a problem with firewall or antivirus.
A way out is to download the new iOS version manually. Then connect the iPad and hold Shift when you click Update. That opens a dialogue to allow you to navigate to the downloaded file
This page has links to Apple's download servers. Make sure you pick the right file for your device. This is how I do all my updates

  • Can anyone help - my mail on my ipad will not connect to the server. My internet access is fine. How can I get my email to connect to the server?

My ipad will not connect tot he server when trying to access my mail. This has been happening since last Sunday. Some have said it is due to the latest software update. I am able to connect to the internet.
I am not having this issue on iPhone.
I checked all the settings, the wireless router in my house and at work.
I have completed a hard reset of the device.
I had our IT guy at work look at it.
    He said to contact Apple....
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • HT1414 just updated ipad to latest software version. finding wifi but will not connect

Just updated ipad to 6.1. Finding wifi but not connecting.

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again, this will refresh the IP address of the iPad.
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Try changing router security e.g. WEP/WPA/WPA2
    4. Have you updated router firmware?

  • HT6058 ipad 4 downloaded 7.0.4 and "wifi will not connect at work" and "will not keep password at home?"

Since I downloaded 7.0.4 onto my iPad 4th gen. the wifi has been unstable.
The wifi will not consistently connect as a "guest" at work and will NOT maintain
the password for my wifi at home.  Prior to the update to 7.0.4 this iPad never
had any wifi issues!  I have tried all of the tactics of resetting wifi, re-downloaded the entire
7.0.4 and with the same wifi issues?  At this point my iPad is useless to me without wifi!!!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • I cannot get my bluetooth to turn on. My keyboard will not connect

I cannot get my bluetooth to come on. I use my wireless Apple Keyboard at school and then brought it home from school. It would not connect so I thought I could turn my bluetooth off and then turn it back on and re-connect it. But, it would not turn on at all. Any help would be appreciated!!
How can I turn the bluetooth on and re-connect my keyboard?

Ok so here is the update.......... Swapped out the iPad for a new one, via AppleCare warranty. Downloaded my backup, upgraded to current iso, problem solved. Although at first glance this seemed to be a software problem, it appears based on the outcome that it was a hardware malfunction. Thanks for everyone's input. Hope this helps someone with similar problem.

  • Windows Mail will not connect with Comcast server

I've been getting the following error message all day today when trying to send/receive email via Windows Mail: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F I've verified that all email account settings are correct using Comcast George's post, and with two Comcast phone reps.  I've disabled email scanning on my Norton 360. Nothing about my setup was changed recently.  I have successfully received emails on this computer/Windows Vista/Windows Mail for years with no problem. First Comcast rep basically said "Tough, b***h" since I am able to access my email via Comcast's web site.  She viewed the issue as strictly a Windows Mail problem. Second Comcast rep had me change all settings on my account, with no solution.  Then said she would escalate the problem on up the line. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work once again?

AV programs don't like being told what to do. ;-) AV programs are pegged as the most likely culprit when Googling on 0x800CCC0F. Upgrading to Windows Live Mail is often recommended, and I recommend trying a different email client as well, but my recommendation would be Thunderbird. MS email clients are famous for quirky problems. On the other hand, someone with a similar problem (on a Mac, so different error message) changed his password and things started working again. I'm a little skeptical about that, thinking that it might have just been coincidence, but it could be worth a try. To see if you're having the same problem, you could turn on logging in Windows Mail and post the log here. Tools|Options|Advanced|Maintenance|Troubleshooting. Click on the Store Folder button above the Troubleshooting section to see where the log file will get saved. Remember to turn off logging when you're done troubleshooting.

  • Original Ipad 1 will not connect to internet even though there is a strong signal displayed

Hi My iPad 1 was working fine but suddenly it will not connect to the internet, it shows a full wifi signal and I have tried reseting but it keeps failing to connect with the internet,,does this indicate a fault with the iPad, router or software. My Sony laptop works from the same BT router using wifi and has no problems.
Has anyone had similar connection issues, I am reluctant to send it to Apple in case its not a fault with the iPad so want to check all other options first..

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • How to fix ipad error -1004 "could not connect to the server"

I am trying to access the tablet edition of Vanity Fair. I already have a subscription and when I click on the "Tap here for acces to the tablet edition" it takes me to a screen & this error message pops up:
    Cannot Open Page
This page cannot be opended because of an error
This error is "Could not connect to the server."(-1004).
I have deleted, reinstalled via itunes on my mac, done a hard restart and nothing seems to be working. I can browse the web using safari and am connected to the internet via wifi.
    Any suggestions?

I have the same issue, too. My New Yorker subscription is fine, always has been. But my Conde Nast Traveler subscription won't work. I can get to the screen where you enter your information (either with name and address or subscription number and zip code), but once I press Continue I get the error.
I emailed Conde Nast's customer service, and this is what they said:
    Dear Subscriber:
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have
    experienced.
We have applied a fix to the app for the server error and you will need
to close and re-open your app. To do so, please double click the "home"
button to close the running app and then re-open your app.
Please let us know if you still experience any problems.
If you should need further assistance, please be sure to include all
    previous e-mail correspondence.
Thank you for your interest in Conde Nast Traveler.
    Sincerely,
    Shar
That didn't work. I tried the restarting the iPad, as someone here suggested, but that didn't work, either. Interesting that this seems to be a Conde Nast issue - my NY Times and National Geographic subscriptions are just fine, too.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the guidance in this knowledge base article means: "Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software." How does one do that on one's iPad?
I actually wonder if it's a firewall issue. Are any of you attempting to enter this information at work, for example? I am, and my company has a firewall/proxy that gives me issues sometimes. I'm going to try to find a wifi hotspot at lunch to see if it'll work there.

  • Just got a new router and now my ipad 1 says it can not connect to the server, even though it says that it is connected to wi fi

Just put in a new router and now my ipad 1 will not connect to the server.  It is connected to the wifi though.  Does this mean my ipad is too old?  Any suggestions on what to do?

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • IPad will not connect to my Torch 9850 hotspot

Before upgrading to iOS6, my iPad would connect hit and miss to my 9850 hotspot connection.  Had to play with it a lot to get it to connect sometimes.  Since upgrading to iOS6, my iPad has not connected to my 9850 hotspot since.  My hotspot does appear to connect to all other devices (several laptops, couple of android phones, etc.).  It just will not connect to my iPad.  I went to the Apple Store and found that their iPad behaved the same.  What was odd was that we did get some connections to my 9850 hotspot inside the Apple Store, but not outside the store, in the mall, in the car, etc.
This appears to be very strange.  I would like to blame all this on the iPad, but I am wondering if I really can.  Has anyone else had any problems connecting their 9850 hotspot to their iPad, especially since upgrading to iOS6?
For reference, I am running BB OS v7.1.1737.  I have restored my iPad to factory and retested, and not long ago, I completely restored my 9850 using Desktop Software, after the over the air upgrade flaked out.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you all...

Try a reset on both devices. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.
