HT4972 forgoten my password for restore backup

Hi,
Ive just done my IOS updating, unfortunately ive forgotten my password to restore the back up.
Anyone could help? Please.
Thanks

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4946 i did not assign password for backup before, and now it ask for password for restore, how can i recover?

how can i know the password for restoring backup or i change it , knowing that i did not assign it before.
    thanks

Well, you or someone had to elect to encrypt your backup. This can also be enforced by an Exchange account if you have such on your phone. Regardless:
If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.

  • HT1414 itunes is requesting for a password to restore backup but it is not accepting any of my iphone passwords. what password does it require? If i cannot remember this then how do i continue backup without the password request?

I am using iphone 4 and just updated the software on my mac but wanted to restore my calender/contacts/messages after backup. itunes is requesting for a password to restore backup but it is not accepting any of my iphone passwords. what password does it require? If you have a corporate Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can require encrypted backups. Try using your Exchange password.

@Razmee209 is right there is nothing you can do if it is an encrypted back up
iOS: Troubleshooting encrypted backups - Apple Support
BUT you could try to see if you have a back up that is not encrypted. If you go to iTunes Preferences (On a Windows go to Edit Menu under the Play Button - On a Mac click on iTunes at the top left) Click on Devices and if you see a back up that does not have a lock next to it you will be able to restore from that back up without using that password.
Encrypted passwords are set up at the time you create the back up.

  • Password for encrypted backup of device

I need help to change the type of encryption for my iPhone and iPad backups in itunes. I have tried all the passwords I ve used in years and have no clue. Somewhere in Support I found an instruction that did not lead to clearing the password. It did send me to backup to iCloud and do a restoere from there. But this is not what I am trying to acheive. I already was backing up to iCloud. If I need to do a restore from a backup in iTunes on my PC I cannot do it because I cannot provide a correct passowrd for the encrypted backup.
Can anyone help me with a solution?

If the user cannot remember the password for the backup, the backup is useless.  There is no way to reset or remove the password requirement.
If the user did not enable backup encryption, the backup is corrupt.
In other words, the backup is no good without the password, delete it and move on with life.

  • How can i set password for a backup?

    ::I am using 10g xe
I am gettin gbackup through RMAN, how can i set password for each backup? I want to protect my backup so that no one other could use it if he copies the backup files.
    Faheem

Just use "SET ENCRYPTION ON IDENTIFIED BY password ONLY" command in your RMAN scripts. Look at the advanced backup manual for details: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/rcmbackp006.htm#sthref632

  • HT1766 What if I forgot my password for the backup? I don't see a forgot password button.

I put a password for my backup months ago and now I don't remember it. I rectently went on vacaction and my iPhone was backed up to iCould. While I was on vcation i started to get notifcations saying that there was no more space in cloud. I kept on ignoring it. Now I want to back it up to my mom's mac, and I need the password, but I don't know the password. Please help me out. Thank You. Sincerely, Saad Jaber.

If you don't know the password then you cannot use the backup.  That is the point of the passcode.

  • HT1766 I can't remember my password for restoring my iPhone

I can't remember my password for restoring my iPhone

Then you will have to restore it from Recovery Mode and you will lost all data on the phone. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.

  • I need a password for the backup copy

I need a password for the backup copy

A time machine backup that was encrypted cannot be opened without the password.. there is no backdoor.. if you lost the password the backup is useless.
If you mean something else.. try being explicit as to what backup you need a password for and how you think we would know it.

  • HT1766 I forgot the password for the backup, how to reset?

I forgot the password for the backup, how to reset?

There is no way to reset. Once you have forgotten the password for the backup, you can no longer use that backup. You will need to delete that backup and remove the checkmark by Encrypt backup so you would be able to use backups again.

  • How do I recover my password for restoring an iPhone backup using itunes?

I used the "encrypt backup" password protection feature in iTunes for my iPhone when I set it up years ago.  I have a 3Gs, just downloaded and installed iOS5, and it's asking me for my password to restore the backup onto my iPhone with the new operating system only I forgot that specific password and there doesn't appear to be any "lost password" functionality.  Please note, this is different than the standard Apple ID username and password...this is specific to encrypting iPhone backups in iTunes...I have my Apple ID username and password.  Does anyone know if there is a way to recover or reset the password protected encrypt backup password so I can restore my latest backup and not have to start from scratch with everything...PLEASE?

    Hey Gremlin,
Can you let me know if Apple fix the issue? I lost a heap of pics from when my daughter was born (well technically I still have them, it's just that they're unintelligible garble).
Oh and if you're worried about iTunes deleting your backup, they're located in your home account (if you're using a Mac). Just go to:
    Macintosh HD/Users/<your_username>/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/backup
Copy the files to another location and you should be right. I don't know how you get iTunes to recognise them if you put them back though, haven't tried that yet.
    Regards,
    Chris
PS. I've made a couple of posts about this, some of the info there may help. One thing though, I don't think the password is restricted to 4 digits as mentioned there. Can anyone confirm that?

  • HT1766 Password for restoring from backup

After updating my iphone to the new ios software it crashed now it is asking me to enter in a password to restore from the backup I did earlier today however I didn't get prompted to enter in a password. therefore how to I find out what my password is?

  • How to find or bypass the password for unlock backup for iphone with mac?

    Hi,
My Iphone is not working for some reason and i realy need the information that was on it.
I have a backup in my itune and i tried to download it to my ipod using the "restore from backup" option.
Unfortuanlty, it asked me for a backup password which i've never put and without it i can't get into my backup information.
Is there any way to bypass it or find the password somehow?
I've tried to find it in the keychain accses (i'm using mac) but didn't find anything there
    it is realy frustrating..
    Tnxs

If it asks for a backup password you or someone else put one on it. Without the password there is no way you can recover the backup.
But -- is is asking for the backup password, or for the phone password? You cannot restore a backup from one phone to another phone without the unlock code for the phone. This is to prevent someone from stealing your data.
But in general, if there was a way around a password what would be the point of having a password?

  • Hi i have forgoten my password for my ipad and cant acces it

hi i have reseted my password for my ipad and i have turned it of and when i tried to get back on it, it wouldnt let it me on so i tried to restore from back up it wouldnt let me so i have wondered how to get back on?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode
