This is a problem with your carrier. You can contact them and ask why you cannot send text messages. Have you tried restarting your phone or restoring it yet?

I did speak a bit too soon it seems - while I can now send messages again from my iPad 2, it still doesn't show me messages that were sent to me via my telephone number. Which is weird, because in the "You can be reached by iMessage at:" setting I do have my telephone number checked.
At this moment I have set my iPad 2 and iPhone 4's "Start new conversations from:" setting to my Apple ID e-mail address. This way at least I can send messages *and* receive messages if people don't use my telephone number to send me messages...
So yes, you should probably wait a while before restoring your iPad 2 - it doesn't fix things completely.

When a message failed, it always goes to the outbox or if you aborted it. Download the configuration for sms, gprs & packet data for your phone from you provider. Sometimes the wizard does not configure it properly.

More information would be important. No idea if you're talking about email messages or iMessage or something else entirely. If you're referring to iMessage, note that you cannot use that to text any non-iOS device... Only other iPads, iPods or iPhones.

Im having trouble sending messages from my iPhone 4..ever since i upgraded to iOS 5, its giving me this problem. It says your SMS mailbox is full. Delete some messages to recieve new messages.
I've deleted around 10 huge conversations, rebooted it, restored it, done a soft and hard reset too. What should i do?

my boyfriend restored his iphone as a brand new phone and still had this problem, he deleted all his text conversations except mine and his best friend's conversations still nothing, i told him to delete OUR conversation since its a 2 year conversation that he has NEVER deleted ..... he said YES!! we tried to delete it and the phone freezes as soon as we click on the CLEAR CONVERSATION button!!!! we tried about 5 times and this happened everytime we tried!!!! ....is like the phone doesnt wanna let go of our conversation!!! every other conversation he deleted the phone was fine except for when we try and delete ours!!
so yesterday he left his phone alone around 4 pm since we have the apple appointment today at 130pm.......around 11 pm last night his phone went NUTS receiving all the text messages i had sent and never received!!!! and now the phone works just fine!!! ...... CONFUSED?????? yeah we are too!!!

If you still can't send or receive iMessages
Ensure that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages.
To send and receive iMessages, your device must have a valid cellular or Wi-Fi data connection.

iMessage registration validates your Apple ID for use with iMessage. If you are unable to activate iMessage, follow this article.
If an iMessage cannot be sent, it will be resent using SMS or MMS, depending on the content. You can turn this behavior on or off in Settings > Messages > Send As SMS. Carrier messaging rates may apply.
Verify that the Apple ID or phone number is listed in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

Switched from iphone to andriod, cant receive messages from wifes iphone

So last week I bit the bullet after 5 years and switched from my iphone to an android device. My wife is sending me messages from her iphone and its still trying to submit it via imessage, and not via SMS.
I have removed my iphone from my icloud account and actually sold the phone on so its no longer accessible by myself. My wife has now disabled imessages on her phone and SMS's are now coming through, but she has other family members and friends that use imessage and she wants to continue using it.
Surely its possible for me to take my number to another OS without losing the abilty to recieve SMS from iphone users??

GMail, IMAP and sending messages from the iPhone

I have recently switched from POP to IMAP. My ISP doesn't support IMAP, and so I get GMail to pop my ISP, and then download the messages from GMail with IMAP. Within GMail I have set things so that by default I can send a message through my GMail account using +my normal ISP's email address+; recipients are therefore unaware of my use of GMail - which is how I want it.
BUT ... messages sent from the iPhone show up as having been sent from my GMail address. Is there any way that I can change this, so they appear to have come from my normal address? I don't want to set up a second a/c on the iPhone, as I want all of the messages to stay within the GMail IMAP system.
GMail's web based >> >Settings >Accounts >Send mail as: >> facility does not seem to appear within the iPhone.
Or am I missing something?

Many thanks for your reply - and I think that I understand what you are saying; however the GMail system does allow me to send a message using another "reply to" address so long as I have authenticated that email address within GMail first. I've been through that process, and I can send a message which appears to be from my normal ISP's address but in reality is sent through GMail (what some might refer to as using a spoofed address?) - but I can't do this from my iPhone.
If the restriction is insurmountable for the iPhone, I'll just have to revert to POP instead of IMAP, as I can then separate my normal address and my GMail address - it's just that a combined IMAP system would have been a more elegant solution ...

HELP!!!! iMessages on iOS6 is sending messages from my iPhone to both my iPad, my other iPhone and other friends iPhones! and receiving messages from friends on both iPhones and iPad.

Why is the new iOS6 using iMessage and FaceTime and sharing messages across all iPad, both iPhones, and friends messages coming in are sent to all units? SHARING??? How do you fix this?

On the iPhone and iPad you can "turn off" the Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Received At (and possibly) > Caller ID.
iOS 6 will delete the email/Apple ID across all devices (you get a warning) but presumably Messages is either left alone on the Mac or you add the ID back in again.
AS has been said you can then set up each device with it's own Apple ID

When attempting to stream music from your iPhone to the AirPort Express, do you see the AirPlay icon in the Control Center on the iPhone?
The AirPlay icon appears when it "sees" an AirPlay-ready device (in this case your AirPort Express) is available on the network.

Cant send email from new iphone

Hey I hope the following will make sense.?
I got an new phone and have "added" my hotmail account to the mail.
It accepts my email address and password.
I can receive emails however I am unable to send emails.
When I attempted to send an email a message comes up saying "The user name or password for address is incorrect" but it is all correct as it allows me to receive emails.
I have deleted and restored the account a few times, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try checking your SMTP details. See if the SMTP server settings or your username and password is correct there. Receiving is done with different details so in a way they will be different.

How do I remove 'no sender' messages from my iphone 4?

Hi,
This is my second iPhone and am having the same issue with the 4 as I had with the 3. E-mails sometimes appear as 'no sender' and 'this message has no content'. I would like to know how to get them off of the phone since the delete option is not functional with these messages.

wow! thanks for the quick reply. I've done that before. Sadly that's a generic answer I always get on these forums. Restoring is a pain just to find out it's going to have the same problem. I keep checking back to see if the issues I have are resolved. So far, all I see is people who have way worse problems with their Iphones so I'm not complaining.
Another part of the no sender emails is that I get kicked out of Mail and come back to see that tons of emails I had just deleted are back, and I have to one by one check them off to trash them. Someone wrote that if I turned off the choice of keeping emails in folders together by thread, that would get rid of it. I haven't tried that yet. I've got bigger issues with reception right now- only to be told that it's my carrier by some misguided person on these discussions. Three other people in my home, all with 3gs and one 3g, have reception that is just fine.

iTunes will not import non-iTunes purchases from iOS devices. If you still have your old computer you can transfer your iTunes library to your new one.

I have an iphone 5 with the latest version of ios and cant send mms. Tried reset network settings and almost all of combinations but still dont work. My account on service provider is ok cause i cant send them from a iphone 4. Apriciate some help thanks.

Try these things in order and see if it fixes it
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears then let go.
Backup, reset, restore on icloud or itunes or restore as new.
Place the phone into recovery mode by doing this
If this fails to fix the problem make an appointment and visit and Apple store or an authorised service provider
