HT4972 How do I back up my music, apps, & books so I can update to 5.1.1 ?

How do I back up my Music, apps, and Books, so I can update to 5.1.1 ?

You can copy iTunes purchases (which includes apps, music, films, ibooks etc) off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (you may also want to copy photos off the iPad as well) and then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'. For music from other sources (including CDs), then if they aren't already on your computer's iTunes then you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off.
You may also want to copy off the iPad any important documents, notes, files etc e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer any other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup. The restore will also update the iOS.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music
Are you sure you have a 3G iPod? A 1G iPod can only go to iOS 3.1.3

  • How do I back up my music from my iPhone 3G?

How do I back up my music from my iPhone 3G?

You didn't need or want any of the data on your computer's hard drive before wiping the hard drive to install Windows 7? No photos, documents or anything was backed up before installing Windows 7?
The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device. Maintaining a backup for all important data on your computer's hard drive is important for a number of reasons regardless the platform, but even more so with Windows due to constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns. Not to mention a hard drive can have a partial or complete failure at any time.
One option you have was as already provided. First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. This will transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.

  • HOW DO I BACK UP MY MUSIC

how do i back up my music so when i send it in to get repaired i can easily transfer all my music back into my iPod
and can i put all the songs form my iPod into my computer?
    thx for helping

How to back up your media in iTunes 5 or iTunes 6.
If your music is in your iTunes library, then it will sync to your iPod when it comes back from repair.
You shouldn't have tracks on your iPod which are not in your iTunes library.
If you have content on your iPod which is not in iTunes... you can use something like Yamipod to put that content back into iTunes.

  • HT4623 how do I add the iTunes music app back on my phone?

how do I add the iTunes music app back on my phone

iTunes is a native iOS app and cannot be deleted. It is probably on another home page or in a folder. Search to see if you find it, and if not, then go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Home Screen Layout. That should bring it back. The only other thing is if you have turned on Restrictions and have iTunes restrictions turned on.

  • How do I get my songs back on the Music app. It shows iradio for some reason.

I want to get my music back on my music app. When I open the app, it shows I radio. Help please.

If you have a radio station selected, select the red arrow at the top left to return to the available radio station selections.
At the bottom will be what you have available there for the Music app or iPod selections - music, playlists, artists, etc.

Enable disk use for the iPod, and then open the Users folder on your hard disk and drag your home folder to the iPod. You can back up other applications and documents you've placed on the hard disk in the same way; this method cannot be used to back up a Mac OS X installation.

Original computer crashed. How do I sync music, apps, books, podcasts, etc. to my new computer?

Move or copy the content from the old computer to the new computer.
    iDevices are not backup devices.

That depends. If the phone was unlocked by the carrier, then it should be fine.
If your phone was unlocked by unauthorized means, then yes, it will be locked again.

  • TS2446 If i create a new apple id account on my ipod, will i still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that i downloaded and bought with my old account or will i loose everything; will i be able to still do the updates to those apps?

If I create a new apple id account on my ipod, will I still have all my music, apps, books and other stuff on my ipod that I downloaded and bought with my old account or will I loose everything; will I be able to still do the updates to those apps?
    I really need help!

I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
    The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer.

I'm assuming that Rosersberg is in Sweden (?). If it is then you are in a country where music can't currently be re-downloaded from the store, only apps and ibooks. If you still have your old computer with your music on it then you should be able to copy it over from it e.g. via file sharing, an external drive : copying content.
