I would like to update software 5 to my ipad, i have not found any message from itunes to let me download the updated one.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Well, finally I fixed my problem and was able to download IOS7 on my IPAD.the problem was because there was not enough space on my IPad local storage, so I had to free some space by deleting pics and movies. Now it's working fine, but I learnt that I can have an Iflash drive or a wifi external hard disc to put all my files on and relive my local storage.

HI,
If iChat was put inside a subsidiary folder of the Applications one then it will not get removed.
Apple App need to be loose in the Applications Folder or they will not update properly either.
I have heard of people creating a "Messaging App Folder" and keeping this inside the Applications folder with the consequences listed.

This option was added to the iOS with version 5. If you have an earlier version of the iOS on your phone you need to start iTunes on the computer you normally sync with and connect your phone to the computer. Select your phone in iTunes and select Summary in the row of tabs presented. Scroll down under Summary to find Check for Updates.

There will be no icon for a software update on your phone. If your iOS is 5.0 or later look in Settings > Software Update

When i try to start iTune i have the message "an unknown error occurred (-45054)" and ITune won't start.

The storage issue you are having is not related to iCloud. The error is telling you that you do not have enough room on your device itself. You need to go to Settings>General>Usage, and under the Storage section at the top, it lists all of your apps and other things taking up room on your device.
You will have to delete or reduce the size of items on this list in order to free up some room for your update.
Also, you may want to try the update by hooking up your device to iTunes on the computer you sync with. It does not require as much free memory to update via iTunes as it does OTA.

It's there somewhere. You couldn't remove it if you wanted to. Your iPod is still within the 90-day free telephone support. Call Apple. 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

How can I get a copy of FCPX to run on OS 10.7.5. I don't have the ability to update the OS.

I have a lab of twenty five 27" iMacs with i3 processors and OS 10.7.5.. Each has 12 gb ram. I'm in a large public school district that maintains tight control over our networks and each individual computer. Many of my students ask what type of editing program to get when they are able to get their own machines at home. In my lab we are running Adobe Premier CS6 suite. It works great to train the students… but I'd like to purchase one copy of FCPX to install on one machine so they can push some projects through that to see the difference. We are going to upgrade in December to 10.8, but that's it for the forseeable future. It shows I need 10.9 as minimum system requirements. I don't want to purchase a dead package if it's not going to work. I'll just recommend students go with Adobe… but I'd really like to offer them alternatives. (I've been using Apple computers since 1982 and got my first Mac in 1986 - I believe in Apple)

As noted, there is no way on 10,7. But assuming Apple doesn't change things, once you install 10.8 you should be able to download FCP 10.0.9. That is outlined in this doc

I just downloaded the new iphone 5 software and cannot sync it with my itunes on this computer because it doesn't have the most current version of itunes which i discovered i cannot download without an iosx oeprating system. I have run software update 10 times, started and restarted the computer and the program. help! what do i need to do to switch over to the ios-x operating system....or whatever the most current version is called. if i have to pay for it, that's fine. i have just been routed and rerouted through the apple store trying to figure it out. can someone help me please!

There are two different things here, an OS update and a software update.
Mac OS X 10.5 is the version of OS while the .8 at the end is the software update (release patches)
The most current software update for Mac OS X 10.5 is 10.5.8
No more software updates available. You would need to upgrade the OS, which would be to Mac OS X 10.6
Your new iPhone 5 would require iTunes 10.6 which is only available for OS X version 10.6.8 or later.
Your would therefore need to upgrade your Macbook to this version of OS.
It maybe brought on DVD via Apple directly (Contact Apple ) or using any good online vendor like Amazon.
