HT4972 I have an ipad with 4.10.01 and itunes does not show a software update?
I have an ipad2 with 4.1 firmware.
I cannot update it as my itunes on my mac recognize my ipad as a device to sync to.
What else can I try?

My guess is you have a very old version of iTunes on your Mac.
Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes on your mac to download a more recent copy.
Depending on how old your Mac is and how old its OS X is, you may not get too current an iTunes version. The latest is 11.0.4.

You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

When I connect my ipad or ipod to the computer, itunes does not show them as a "device".

My Iphone does show as a device when connecteing wirelessly.

I have an Ipod touch and recently added new music to my Itunes library. When I sync with the library, the new music does not show up on my ipod. The sync process seems to be working and there is still plenty of space on the Ipod for new music so I'm not sure what the problem is!

Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

"CCleaner" is a scam and it may well have corrupted the operating the system. Get rid of it according to the developer's instructions, then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

Hi, Yes you are correct in iPhoto Prefernces, Advanced tab editing I used to have iPhoto and "Use external editor.". It changed to iPhoto and iPhoto Library. I have einstaleed PSE 9 and downloaded the update. There is still no lkink to external editor in the drop down box. Have I done something wrong inadvertently or is there a clitch? can you reinstal iPhoto. I am new to Macs. Every thing came preinstalled. it is the top of the range system with 16 Gb of rRAM, 2 Tb hard drive to top graphics card etc. I used to be on Windows PC. Have more than 27,000 photos on the system. Help: Just finished shooting a wedding and Aperture crashes constantly during editing. All pic's in RAW and even after making sure I have the latest Aperture update, I have had to rebuild my library twice and "repair" does not seem to fix the issue. Help?

If you have ThunderBolt, I would go with such for an External Working Drive, spinning platter or SSD depending on your budget
This does not have to be huge just big enough to house your most current Jobs
Once the Current Job is put to rest I would move it to a larger multi bay hard drive unit, USB or FireWire nothing fancy, no RAID, set up as one single Disk
This would only be accessed when something is needed from a past Job so the connection does not have to be speedy
The Drobo would be relegated to Vaults and backups
You can set up a Vault on the Drobo to back up the External Working Library and then Reconnect it when you have moved the Library over to the other Enclosure
This has worked for me pretty smoothly for a long while, but I have found over the years that one can not assume all people work in the same manner! :-) -
