HT4972 I have lost photos after uploading new software, restoring took several attempts as error kept coming up , can retrieve my files
I upgraded to latest software iOS 5.11 and after following instructions and several attempts at restoring I restored but lost some photos.
These are not on the computer in sync (hard to check as computer cannot open ithmb files).
Is there a straight forward way to retrieve.
Starting to hate the iPad and will probably try the new Microsoft tablet as that will be easier to function with other devices

You can view content of your iPod Photo Cache folder with iThmb Converter.

Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

Can anybody tell me how I can locate my photos from I Photo in the Time Machine backups as I seem to have lost most of 2011 after installing Lion.
Many thanksTo recover individual photos open iPhoto and use the File ➙ Browse Backups menu option.

That will take you into iPhoto in Time Machine where you can search for the phtoos and restore them.
To restore the entire library, close iPhoto, go to the Pictures folder, enter Time Machine, go back in time till you get the library you want to restore, select it and use the Restore button.

Afew days ago I did the Apple Software Update and since then I haven't been able to get onto my Itunes or Iphoto, both of which I use quite often. Itunes just doesn't load at all and Iphoto starts to open the page but then doesn't respond at all. I am just wondering why this is happening and whether it's happened to anyone else at all? Ideally I'd like to get rid of this new update but don't know how to go about it. I'm a bit of a computer dunce so if you could offer any solution in a straightforward way I would be so grateful. Hi - we have 'lost' photos in the iphoto library
Hi - we have 'lost' photos in the iphoto library & relevant albums & slideshows frm 2009-2012; they are shown as empty. Older photos (pre 2009) were backed up & are all there in the library, album and slideshows although jumbled up in the library - this totals 1239 items, when there should be 10,000. We don't really know when this occurred - although photos from August 2011 were put on the computer around Xmas time - since that period this has occurred. Also when we try to open a 'empty' slideshow, the iphoto application often automatically closes.
OS is v10.4.11, iphoto v6.0.6.
Only 3.5GB of 149GB is free on HD.
Restarting didn't help.
We have a LaCie external HD which we were going to use to do a backup and to transfer the Iphoto library across to, to then delete older photos in the main Mac HD and free up space; this is when we noticed the lost photos. We have not plugged in the external HD at all yet.

After digging around the pictures folder on the mac HD I found all the rolls located under pictures/iphotolibrary/originals - here it appears all recent photos are present in folders by year, and can be viewed in preview as jpegs.
Before trying a rebuild of the iphoto library - and viewing various related posts- I did a drag and drop of the entire pictures folder onto a external hard drive as a back up.
I have now tried to do a rebuild with the original mac HD iphoto folder but it is still the same - only early pre 2009 photos shown.
I have tried to create a new iphoto library using the external HD - When I try to create a new iphoto library from the external HD it only shows the same as the one currently on the mac HD however if go to next level down and I select the originals folder it appears that all 16000 photos are now being imported but none of the albums and slideshows are retained.
Any further thoughts on this?

All apps on the iPad should be in the iTunes library with iTunes on the computer the iPad is synced with.

Sure - things happen - that is whay you always make a backup prior to an update or upgrade
Maybe with more information someone could give more help

Uploaded new software update and all I have is a little black box with an incessant flashing white light. I have pushed menu + downarrow on the remote, unplugged for 10 seconds and stiill no change when I plug it in again ! !
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device) -
After upgrading my ipad to ios7, its battery is getting charged way too fast and it drains at the same rate. I have been waiting for a new software update,to fix this, and nothing yet.....
Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

I am connected so I ran diagnostics which verifies my Network Interface but Internet Connection Failed as did secure link to Itunes store.
In addition whenever I go into Itunes after a few seconds my AOL home page keeps popping up.
As you see my ISP is AOL and my connection is through a Netgear wifi router.

I seen so many of these post for windows users.
Try my little "trick" (must be running iOS 4.3 or better)
Download the app "Download Manager Lite" (FREE) or "Download Manager" Full ($ 1.99 USD)
After downloading, transfer it to iTunes
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
After transferring, Go to your iDevice (on itunes), to the apps page, scroll down, you can add/save videos and/or files.
Click on "Add", find the folder of which your movies are being downloaded. Its much faster than syncing from itunes.
You can do the wi-fi transfer, the best part is that you don't have to be connected to the same wi-fi.
You will get 2 different URLs you need to type on your computer. Type the Web URL not the ftp URL. After that, you should have access to the app, without the need of itunes.
Click on Add, find the folder of where your movies are stored, faster than syncing with iTunes.

To manage your devices, go to Your Account in iTunes.
