HT4972 I updated itunes to 5.1.1 then my ipod touch 3g to latest version but could not hear music from newly downloaded albums. I then did a restore, backing up and sync, it took 9 hours. My ipod touch froze and I couldn't unlock what do I do?

try putting it into DFU mode...
hold down the home and power buttons for 10 seconds
let go of power button, the screen should go black in 5seconds
plug ipod in... do restore

I accidently installed lion on my mac book pro. I did a time machine back-up. When i try to re-install snow leopard, it won't take. Any suggestions on how to install snow leopard over lion?

Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files. -
Please help! iPod won't sync: "Disk could not be read from or written to."
I am at the end of my rope with the endless problems I've been having with iTunes and my iPod ever since the iTunes update which included Gapless Playback (a feature which now invariably crashes my entire computer unless I disable it quickly enough). My latest problem has now made my iPod completely useless because I cannot sync it with my music library. Every time it tries to update the songs, it either crashes or I get the error message "Disk could not be read from or written to." I have tried restoring my iPod, which seemed to work, except that after the restore function seemingly completed I still have the flashing Do Not Disconnect screen on my iPod (after about 30 minutes). I already tried synching my iPod while this was going on and I got the same disk error message. Please, please, can anyone tell me what on earth is going on? I've NEVER had problems like this and all of a sudden it seems like everything about iTunes is a complete disaster.
I had the same problem after I moved my library from my PC to my new iMac. It would not sync properly. After a day of thinking about it, researching it, and trying things like starring at the screen to see what song it failed on as it ran the auto sync (a suggestion posted on this site), a light bulb went off. Switch it to manual! If you manually manage the songs that sync it is easy to discover what songs fail. When auto sync is managing it, it jumps all over the place when synchronizing, but if you manually grab say 500 +/- songs at a time, it goes in alphabetical order, and you can see where it fails. It will be the track(s) immediately following the the last track that made it on the iPod. The songs that were corrupted for me played fine in iTunes, but would not transfer to the iPod, and they worked when I was syncing with my PC. Hmmm? I hope this helps.

ITunes 9.0.3 "disk could not be read from or written to"

I'm using a MacBook (OS 10.5.8) and just recently downloaded iTunes 9.0.3 (15). Since then, I have not been able to properly sync any of my iPods: Classic 20GB (4th Generation), 2GB Nano (1st Generation) and a Classic 80GB (6th Generation).
Upon connection, iTunes recognizes all of these devices, but when I try to sync them, I would say a good half of the songs in my playlists do not appear and I receive the error message "Attempting to copy to the disk "...iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I have tried restoring one of them, which did not work at all and now it's playlists are even more sparse.
I also have an iPhone 3GS 16GB, but have not tried syncing it, because I do not want my last device to end up in the same condition.
I was thinking to uninstall 9.0.3 and go back to 8, and I have already saved all my playlists as .xml files for easy (re)importation. Can anyone confirm if this is a good idea / will it cause compatibility problems with my iPhone if I downgrade?

1) I needed to update certain software (I hadn’t received a notice for this like normal, so it never occurred to me). In any case, ‘apple’ → ‘software update’ did the trick.
2) I also I had one corrupt music file, however, once I updated all the software, it detected which one for me.

So heres my problem... If I try to sync my iPhone or IPad to our computer I get an error that reads "The IPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." The error comes at the start of syncing the photos. I have removed the photos from my iPhone it syncs fine, so the problem has to be with the photo library, RIGHT? The problem is iI have never had this issue before. I have my iTunes and iPhoto on a external hard drive and this has been fine in the past, but now i can not even view my photos on my iTV... ANY HELP???
Since you noticed this problem, have you shut down (powered off) and restarted your iMac?
iPhoto does the syncing for photos. Are you able to run iPhoto manually (start it up from the Dock) and access your photo library? -

I called from my iMac which has snow leopard OS 10.6.8. I'm not experienced with Facetime but thought I would try it. I returned a call to my daughter's iphone 3 or 4. I'm not sure what she has. I could hear and see her very clearly. She could see me, but could not hear me. I've checked the sound settings, the mute button and whatever support info I could find, but nothing has been helpful. If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable. -
Was watching a movie with AirPlay mirroring on atv from iMac. Got a Skype call. Could not hear caller until I unplugged atv. Turned off AirPlay on both atv and iMac. Could not hear Skype caller until I turned off atv. What else could I have done?
I checked and found that the router did not have the latest firmware. It does now. The issue is still there. I did a little research and found that the model number of my Apple TV (MC572LL/A) shows that it is a 2G version which uses the A4 chip. The latest version uses the A5 chip and is 1080 capable. Both are supposed to be capable of using type "N" routers. I don't think that should be an issue but I wonder if later updates may have introduced some issues in the 2G version.
I am going to try changing the "N" channel also- just to see if that makes any difference. The istumbler app does not show any "N" networks in my area so it is defaulting to 149. I will note that even 1 foot away from the router I only get 75-85% for signal. I would expect it to be 100% since it is so close. I am also seeing noise go up from typically 13% to 21% when it is on channel 3 and that close. I will play change locations and channels and see if there is any improvement. -

Numbers documents from iOS need Numbers 3.2 on a Mac to open. And Numbers 3.2 requires Mavericks. If you are using Mavericks you can get Numbers 3.2 from the Mac App Store. It will be free IF you have Numbers 2 (iWork '09) installed. Otherwise you must buy it.
Your other option is to send the Numbers file as an Excel file via e-mail to yourself to open with an earlier version of Numbers. -

Did you place the iPod in recovery mode? That is required for a disabled iPod

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

By wiping both iPhone and iPod and trying syncing with another computer I've come to the conclusion that something with MobileMe sync is the problem.
I can set up both to work fine with my Mac Pro and a new Mac Book Pro as long as I don't set up MobileMe syncing. As soon as I sync with MobileMe I start having problems, particularly with Calendar.
MobileMe seems to work fine computer to computer, until the iPhone/iPod get involved, then the MobileMe copy gets messed up. Version on computer seems to stay ok.
Not sure where to go from here... other than call Apple or go to the Apple Store. -

I was trying to update my ipod for ios 6. It got downloaded but could not update my ipod. my ipod screen is now showing one message usb -up arrow-itunes, can anyone suggest something please.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
