HT4972 i would like to replace my old ipod with this new 4th gen, for my entire library, how to?
i just bought a 4th generation ipod touch, to replace my 1st generation ipod touch and would like to register it so i can have access
to my entire library , can anybody tell me how to do this?
Make one final sync of the old iPod to your computer. The first step of the sync is a backup.
Then connect the iPod to the computer and restore it from the backup for the old iPod. You will have to reenter keychain items like passwords since they are only restored to the same device.
To restore see:

I am contemplating replacing my old Ipod with a 8gb touch which supposedly holds up to 1760 songs. In my ITunes library the average size of a 12 song album is 300mb which means I can get 27 albums x 12 songs is 324 songs. Where am I going wrong here?
There is about 6.9 GBs of free space on an 8 GB Touch for data storage. That translates to roughly 23 of your average albums.
Holds up to 1760 songs is based on the size of an average track which is about 3 to 4 MBs, whereas your albums have tracks averaging more like 25 MBs per track. I sort of doubt your average album holds what would be about 5 hours. -
i want to know if there is any possibility to replace my old macbook with a new one and pay a price difference ? I have a 2008 Macbook that is slowly failing on me and i wanted to know if there is any possibility to bring it to an apple store and swap it with a newer one and pay a small amount of money? No. but you can sell it privately and use the proceeds towards a newer used model. -
Replacing a old photo with a new one.
Using iPhoto right now, would this be something that is easy in Aperture, will switch tomorrow if it works better. A few years back I imported some of my photos off of a photo cd that came with my prints. Now I am scanning the negs at a higher resolution than they supplied on the photo cd. My question is.. is there anyway to replace the old photos with the new photos so that all of my faces, places, dates, keywords etc. will remain intact?
Also make sure you've renamed the new file exactly the same as the old file, same case, format, etc.

I am not able to open the settings icon from my old iPAD. When I try to select the settings icon it looks like it's about to launch and open however; it will not stay open. I am trying to transfer all my data from my old iPAD to my new 4th gen iPAD.
Try a soft reset - press the home and power bottons and keep them pressed until the Apple logo comes on. Then see if you can access Settings.

I would like to set up a homegroup with a new Macbook Pro and 2 Windows PCs. The PCs are wired to an Airport Time Machine and the Mac is wireless. All computers have internet through the Airport Time Machine.
The method for setting up file sharing is described here:

I would like to hook my older iPod to my newer computer
I would like to hook my older iPod to my newer computer.
How?Hi, Tim.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need clarification on this question to provide a better answer. However, you should just need to have the most current version of iTunes installed and connect the device via the included USB cable.
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB

It is as little more complicated than that. See:

after I installed 7 on my IPad none of the keyboard functions work properly. seems like microsft had something to do with this new operating system. any know what I did wrong
Thanks for the quick advice!
Unfortunately, I am still unable to open my core productivity apps, namely Skype and Evernote. Twitter, as well, could not start. But interesting quick fix though, I never knew you could do that.
Here's the error log after the restart:

I would like to connect my old TC to my new TC in order to access the older files
I would like to connect my old 2TB TC to the new 3TB TC in order to access the old files.
Plug old TC into new TC by ethernet.. reset it to factory and then do the setup again.. as bridged device. No files are lost from the hard disk doing this.
Whether Yosemite can find it is another question.. Yosemite is like the guy with two brains.. one lost and the other looking for it.. it has terrible network bugs.
Only way to find out if you are affected is give it a go.
Good luck.

How can I replace an old HDD with a new larger one and keep exisiting data?
I have a 1TB Seagate Barracuda drive in my Windows 7 64-bit desktop machine. It has 3 partitions, one is the boot drive.
This drive is four years old and I would like to replace it with a new one -- probably a 3TB Barracuda. I want the new drive
to behave exactly like the old one -- not interested in upgrading to Windows 8 right now.
How would I go about cloning the old drive to the new one so that the new drive also has 3 partitions, but each one is bigger
-- three times as big, to be exact, with everything working the same as on the old drive?
I'm thinking that if I just mirror the old drive to the new (using cloning software), the new drive will have 3 smaller partitions
totaling 1TB and a big empty space of 2TB. Can I then increase the sizes of the existing partitions without destroying any data? Would the boot drive still work?
Or would it be better to create the 3 partitions of 1TB each on the new drive and then clone the old drive partitions to the
new partitions? Would the cloning software be able to do that correctly, so everything would still work? Do I need to buy partitioning software? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.Hello,

How can I transfer stuff from my old Ipod to my new computer?
Still did not work. I did everything listed. The program did not work as needed because it is only the free version and I should not have to pay for 3rd party software for something like this. Also, that article is outdated because windows 7 does not come with contacts software, but I managed to get it to work with a helpful post on another forum. Itunes still asked me to replace current iPod's data, I went ahead and clicked yes. I'll just go ahead and redownload all of my music and whatnot. Thanks anyway.
