Wel your "answer" provides not only a bad comparison, but is disingenuous at its heart!
Apple sold a product (8GB iPod Touch) that one could have assumed to be 3rd generation at the time of purchase (because that was what all the other models of iPod Touch were at the time). Then when ios 4.3 came out, we who purchased one of these units found out that the 8GB Touch was really a 2nd generation model, and it would not ever be updated beyond ios 4.2.1 (8C148). Since the version (4.2.1) is BUGGY, it would be in the best interest of Apple to at least provide a bug-fix update release for these units. It is not like we are asking for all the new features of ios 4.3, just fix the BUGS, please, Apple!

Can you share storage with the iOS 8 family sharing?

Wondering if it is possible to share storage with the iOS 8 family sharing feature?
I set up my family and I was surprised to see that storage sharing does not seem to be an option. Am I doing something wrong? If not this seems like a glaring omission.

True... I'm sure this will be implemented... Unfortunately in 5 years most likely.
Here's where Family Sharing needs some "tweaking" IMHO:
1. Shared Storage. - I have 200GB of storage on my Mobile Me account that I had envisioned would be shared with all users. Now I am getting out of space errors on most of our 8 iOS devices being used with family share. I NEVER really use the MobileMe account, so it's a bit of a waste.
2. Photostream.... Why so darn difficult?!? I used to have all devices on the same iCloud account which allowed for a shared photo stream. Now I have my photo stream, but nobody else in the family unless they elect to share with the family.
3. Easier re-allocation of users, kids, and organizers. - Right now, I have that Me account that really isn't being used, will never make iTunes purchases, and it taking 1 user away from our 6... Add to that a botched child account and We're down to 4 real accounts for Family Sharing. not ideal.

Can you do that with the SDK?

I have a question concerning the SDK. In a project, we want to automate some Editing-Functions and the "Premiere_SDK_Guide.pdf" leaves some questions:
1) Is it possible to write a plugin, that read pathes from ressources (for example Images and Audio from an XML-file) and put these at specific places on the timeline?
2) With video- and audio-transitions?
Even if the above is not possible, than can you automatically:
3) Set Chapter-Markers?
4) Export to Encore or directly as a DVD?

1) For this I would recommend you generate an FCP XML, which can be imported into Premiere Pro. The SDK doesn't provide control over project items.

3) Markers in the FCP XML can't currently be imported directly as Encore Chapter markers, but once the markers are brought in, it is fairly simply to switch them from regular markers to Encore Chapter markers. Bringing them in directly as Encore Chapter markers could be a good feature request, if you decide to use the FCP XML route - http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
4) Triggering an Export to Encore is not something a plug-in or external application can do. But by generating the FCP XML in advance, that should save a ton of time with the editing up front.

Okay ~ let me start by saying I am NO iPod expert, or anything even close . I have figured out I have a second generation touch that I haven't used in years. My son now wants to start listneing to music so I thought I would give him my iPod. I downloaded the latest iTunes on the lap top but it won't recognize the iPod. I have a brand new cable. So, a couple of questions:
Is it possible my cable is charging only and not a sync cable?
Is my second generation iPod just too old now?
Any helo anyone can offer would be appreciated! I've been troubleshooting and resetting and following online directions for days. I'm ready to throw it out the window and buy somethng new.

I have an 06 iMac can I use that with a new iMac mini?

My iMac is from 06 I can't afford a brand new one at this time but I can get a mini and my friend says all you need is a monitor. I was wondering if that could be hooked into the current iMac I have or if I'll have to specifically get a new monitor and not the thunderbolt one, obviously I can't afford that either if I'm just getting the mini cause I can't completely upgrade. Is this possible? Or will I have to look into getting a monitor as well?

The quicker solution is to subscribe for a Creative Cloud plan and juts go with that one but if you still need to go for the Cs5 go to this link Download and Installation Help | Download and Installation Help and scroll down. There is a section about downloading old versions of Creative Suite and Cs5 is there for you.

My 2nd generation shuffle is not syncing with the new version of iTunes.

I downloaded the newest version of iTunes on 9/14/14, and now it won't sync with my shuffle. After I connect it, it immediately says the iPod was synced, but it doesn't appear in the sidebar. I've tried restarrting my computer, resetting the iPod, using a different USB port - everything. This happened only after downloading the newest version of iTunes, so it has to be a glitch in the software.

Hey thanks ingo2711 :) for some reason it worked and my iPhone is been recognised! Yay! Ha ha :) I did what u suggested and removed iTunes completely from my computer then I also restarted my computer and proceeded to reinstall iTunes. I don't know if it helped but I also reset all settings on my iPhone as well :) I'm so happy right now lol thanks again :)

iCloud only has content purchased (or free) from iTunes. Ripped music or music from other sources is only on your computer. As the iPhone can only sync with one computer at a time you should copy the iTunes folder from the old computer to the new one. It's in the Music folder on the old one, just copy the entire folder to the Music on the new computer. When you first sync your iPhone content will be replaced by the content of the new computer.
You can optionally enable iTunes Match. This searches the non-iTunes content in iTunes or on your iPhone and finds the original digital version on the Internet if it exists. This then becomes your backup. If you have music that it cannot find it will upload it to your cloud storage, but you may have to pay for the storage if it is over 5 GB total (along with your backup). iTunes content and Match content are not included in the 5 GB free limit.
Usually to fix mail issues just delete the account, reset (reboot) the phone by holding HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, and adding the email account(s) back.

If you are running iOS 3.1.3, it is very likely you have a 1st generation iPod touch. That is the highest iOS version it can handle.
Regardless, you can find plenty of apps in the iTunes store which run on older devices. Here is my favorite solution for filtering compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
And here are some things other people have suggested:
Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
