  • MY IPAD HUNG UP WHILE UPDATING

While I was updating my IPAD 2 to the latest itunes version, through my itunes installed on my laptop, it hung up. The IPAD was updating itself through laptop, however there was a message on my laptop to restart the computer. I did that and my ipad hung up. Now my ipad is not getting detected by itunes and it is showing symbol of apple and half way mark of updating. How do I complete my updation to new itunes version 6 and start my ipad?

You are going to have to use recovery mode now in order to restore your iPad.

  • HT4972 My iPad has no software updates listed but is only ios4

My iPad 2 doesn't show any software updates available in the settings. Always connected to wifi but no dice. Currently at iOS4. Help?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPad crashed during OS update and now iTunes can't restore

I tried to update the OS on the iPad today and about 10% of the way into the installation, the installation failed. Got an error screen saying I would need to do a restore. I was also referred to a help site at support.apple.com/kb/TS1275.
Even more disturbing is that the info in iTunes for the iPad shows "n/a" for the name, capacity, OS version, or serial number. This information showed when I first got the iPad.
I tried a restore and it went through the following steps:
    extracting software
    verifying iPad restore with Apple
    Checking with Apple
    preparing for restore
    waiting for iPad
a progress bar shows on the iPad but in a few seconds I got the error of iPad could not be restored because of an unknown error of 9
subsequent restore attempts get to the progress bar, but then tells me the device can no be found
I have tried the 2 button restart of the iPad but that has not helped
I have made a copy of my last good iPad back up and have it in reserve if/when needed. Fortunately I do daily syncing of the iPad
Is there a forum solution or is this an Apple solution?

After 10 attempts to restore and 5 restarts, I finally got the iPad to be found and respond. I am now trying to get everything arranged back the way it was. iOS 4.3 got installed and the capacity, size and serial number are back.
Which apps were loaded, and their arrangement is NOT restored and this can be very tedious. Everything was unchecked in iTunes.
Not happy, but i am the road back to where things were.

  • My iPad froze during latest update.

I Have an iPad 3, 128 gb, less than 6 months old. I was installing the latest update and it froze with the white Apple logo on the black screen and the download
bar 1/4 of the way finished. I have no response from the power button or the reset button. Any suggestions?

You've tried a soft-reset, pressing and holding both the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds ?
If that doesn't work then try recovery mode and then restore to your backup : If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • IPad frozen during iOS5 update

Hi, I've been trying all day to update my iPad to ios 5. It seems to be stuck because its stuck at the black screen with the apple logo and a full progress bar. My itunes's progress bar is almost full. I've left it for several hours and reset, then tried again and still nothing. How long should it take to update? My ipad seems stuck so what do i do?

Same in here, i tried 2 days, then gave up and gave it to the offical technical support in Turkey. They also tried for 2 days, still no result. Then they called me and said " it might be something in hardware, we are going to check it". tommorow will be the 6th day in service. If i find out anything i will write you.

  • HT201263 Crashed iPad during latest update and unable to restore

I have followed all of these steps:
iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
Use iTunes to restore your device.
When I connect to iTunes and the above message appears, I can see behind the message that it says "iPad Recovery Mode" but for the serial number it has n/a it says that I am up to date on software on iPad, but when I click ok on the "iTunes has detected..." the opportunity to click on "restore iPad" disappears!  I am stymied!

PS:  I read all of the threads on: Re: iPad crashed during OS update and now iTunes can't restore and followed what they suggested - no resolution to be had

How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
