I will require IOS version 3xx and above. How do I proceed to upgrade my software?

iOS 3.1.3 is the last update for the 1G. You get that here:

  • Upgrading 1st generation iPod to install apps

I want to upgrade my 1st generation iPod touch from 1.1.5 so that I can install apps. I purchased and tried downloading 3.1.1 but ran into this 8288 error that other people seem to be getting: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3373167?start=0&tstart=0.
Since I only want apps can I instead try upgrading to 2.x? I can't seem to find this update anywhere on the store.

You can fix error 8288 and upgrade to iOS 3.1. This is how I did that http://www.parkhi.net/2011/12/error-8288-ipod-touch-upgrade-ios-31.html

  • Upgrade 1st Generation iPod Touch 32GB

Can I download ios5 to my 1st gen ipod touch or can i upgrade my software version 3.1.3 to 4.0 or 3.2?

Thanks for your answer, now my problem is I had to reset my ipod and when I reloaded the applications from the computer some of them were bought for my iPod version 3.1.3 and now they can not be loaded for having been updated for use on an iPod version greater than 3.1.3.  For example, I purchased Documents To Go Premium - Office Suite, version 3.0 and now I can not load it in my ipod because after several updates to the application, now requires a larger version of my ipod (greater than 3.1.3). What should I do?

I have reinstalled the new version of itunes as the support tech said and my purchase did not show up in my ipod. Therefore, I am getting a flashing green and amber light! My ipod was set up on another computer and I used the same account. I am being charged for purchases that did not effectively download to my ipod. I need help!!! Can you successfully upgrade a 1st generation ipod to play with this new version safely. My sync does not show any music purchased and will not play.
Do I need another battery or a new ipod? I have spent a lot of time on this and am getting nowhere. Help!!!

  • 1st generation iPod Touch

    Hi guys..
I'm having problems by adding apps to my 1st generation iPod Touch, because all of the games are for newer versions of iPod Touch...
Can I upgrade it somehow? Or is it neccesary to buy a newer generation of iPod Touch and just throw the other one out?
Please let me now what to do?

  • Why won't my 2010 MacBook Pro recognizing my 1st generation iPod Shuffle?

My 2010 13" MacBook Pro does not recognize my 1st generation iPod Shuffle. Do I need software? Is there anywhere I can go to download it?

    Hi all -
I cannot view my flash drive OR my office server, which I should be able to connect to via VPN. VPN was installed on my Macbook Pro at my office on Friday. It worked fine. Now I bring it home, and I connect using VPN, and it shows that I am connected, yet the server hard drive icon does not appear on my desktop (as it usually did) and I can't see how to access the server at work.
I also cannot view flash drives when I plug them in - they just don't show up.
I had Norton installed; I read online I should disable that. I did this, and no luck. I also have already done all the things suggested on this post and have all the boxes checked, and yet, still cannot use a flash drive or access my work server.
I am stuck? Do I have to bring my Macbook pro in for service? I have NOT upgraded to Mavericks.
    Thanks for any help.
I am not that well versed in finding my way around a Mac - so keep any explanations simple, please.

  • Can I run the Netflix app on a 1st generation Ipod Touch running 3.1.3?

I have a 1st generation ipod touch running ios 3.1.3. I want to run netflix on it but when I try to install from itunes I get the message "The app "Netflix" was not installed on the IPOD because it requires a newer version of IPOD software." I have read from goggling this issue that netflix streaming on the 1st gen ipod is possible. What am I doing wrong? Or is this not possible at all?

"The "reason" that Netflix will not work with iOS 3.1.3 is because Netflix does so much that iOS 3.1.3 cannot handle it. SImple."
This is untrue, as was stated earlier:
I was running netflix on an itouch first generation ios 3.1.3 untill the glich with the app store.  The newest update will not run on it now and I lost the original version when I reset the Itouch thinking the problem was on my end.
If you had said it's "incompatible" instead of "cannot handle it" or specified the version of the Netflix, perhaps the new Netflix app is so incredible, or rather it "does so much" MORE, you might be within the realm of having some useful input, but the following:
    It would appear so!
leads me to understand you don't know what you're talking about or you're a wannabe company man and just lying.
If anyone else has useful information regarding running the Netflix app that certainly worked for us Netflix subscribers who are also 1g owners–and there are at least thousands, if not tens of thousands–and were using the app before we upgraded to 3.1.3 or restored and downloaded the latest Netflix app, it'd be great to hear from them.  1. 2. 3. SImple.

  • 1st Generation iPod Touch No Longer Recognized by Windows 7 PC

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch (no camera) that can no longer connect to my Windows 7 pc. Plugging in the iPod via USB does not trigger any sort of dialog box in Windows and it doesn't trigger a message saying a device has been connected; the iPod does not show up in either iTunes, Computer, Device Manager or Devices and Printers, either as an Apple mobile device or an unrecognized device, and does not charge when connected to USB (though the wall-charger still works). As far as my computer is concerned this iPod does not exist. I had successfully synced this iPod as recently as one week ago and am ready to pitch the thing in the garbage if I can't find a solution.
I have the latest version of iTunes as well as the most up-to-date Windows updates. I have already followed all the steps listed here (iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows) multiple times with no success.
I also have tried following the instructions listed here (Re: For those Windows users who suddenly cannot see their device in iTunes. Here's a solution that has worked.) but this also hasn't worked since the iPod isn't recognized in the Device Manager and I am not given the option of updating the drivers, manually or otherwise.
I have uninstalled/re-installed iTunes and all related Apple services multiple times. The Apple Mobile Device Service is functioning normally. iTunes diagnostics indicate that there is no device connected no matter what I do. I have reinstalled my Windows USB drivers and changed the settings on the USB Root Hub in the Windows Device Manager to disable power saving options.
I have tried connecting the device to another PC which detects and syncs another apple device (iPhone 5) with no issues, and had the exact same result: the computer doesn't even recognize an iPod is connected.
I can't update the Apple Mobile Device Drivers because the device is not recognized by my machine in any way.
I even completely reset my iPod and that just left me with a unactivated iPod that still isn't detected.
I am really unbelievably fed-up with the useless "try checking your USB cable"-style advice that people seem to offer on this forum. If anybody has dealt with this issue and has any serious advice other than "re-install iTunes," it would be much appreciated.

You said "I am really unbelievably fed-up with the useless "try checking your USB cable"-style"
    - Did you try another cable?
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    Try on another computer

  • Updating the 1st generation ipod

I have a 1st generation ipod touch and I had to reset it.
Since the reset I can no longer put any apps like skype,
facebook etc... It says that the software needs to be updated,
but when I try to update it says that it is up to date (3.1.3).  HELP!!

In actuality, the 1G can go to 3.1.3.
