HT4993 anti-virus/anti-spyware for iphone

Is there anti-virus or spyware software you can download on your iphone or ipad like you can your mac?

I was told using free public wifi allows others to have access to the devices using the wifi... Is this not true?
Not quite true, no. It's not true that using public wifi gives people access to the device. What it does is allow people on that network to snoop on any unencrypted network traffic. So, if your phone is transmitting a clear-text password for the account that got hacked, that could be captured by someone else on the wifi network who has the right software on their computer.
That said, though, the chances of that happening in most places is not high. Perhaps if you were on a very large open network, like in an airport, or if you were in a country that doesn't have particularly stringent laws against hacking (like Russia), then it might be more likely, but otherwise it's far more likely that someone simply hacked your account remotely. Probably the password was not as secure as it should have been and it got cracked by brute force.

  • Check for virus and spyware on iPhone - iPhone reset all passwords and profiles

Is there a way to check to see if there are viruses and spyware installed on an iPhone 5S (7.1)? All of a sudden my iPhone prompted me to re-enter all my mail passwords, re-create a passcode, re-enter my iCloud info, Facebook password, Twitter password and deleted my MDM profiles. My phone has been freezing up lately. All apps, photos, messages are still there. My Touch ID was retained and works fine.
    Thanks

There are no viruses or spyware for iPhone, therefore no way to check for something that doesn't exist.
The iPhone is not a Windows PC and susceptible to all the malware Windows users have to endure.
If you have chosen to hack your iPhone (jailbreak it) thereby removing the security Apple builds in, then there could be something, but that'd be your own fault, and you won't get help here with a modified iPhone.
The problem is more likely to be a mis-configuration of your MDM profile. Speak to whoever provides that.

  • What is the preferred virus scan program for iphone? I believe that I have a virus. My phone will come on by itself and it appears to be recording audio. I have read about spyware/surveilance viruses that will record audio and take photos.

My phone is not jailbroken.  I don't know what you mean about hacked.   Maybe it is hacked?   This is what is happening: About three times over the past few months I've noticed that my phone while "off" will come on (light up) and the screen shows an arrow towards the bottom; an arrow such that you would see on various "players" in order to "play" video or audio, I've searched my phone and cannot find any app that produces this particular screen though. Once I pick up the phone when this screen myseriously appears out of nowhere and press anything, it goes away and goes to the standard "slider" front page to unlock the phone.

  • Spyware for iPhone... Does it exist.. Is an I phone safe from hacking

Spyware for iPhone... Does it exist.. Is an I phone safe from hacking

Simple question, complicated answer. If the phone is not jailbroken there is no known spyware that can be installed remotely. However, any application can gain access to your contacts, calendar, email and location. This is either a feature if you are aware of it and want it or a risk if you don't. For example, apps like foursquare will report your current location to your "friends". But there was recently an app that would use Foursquare to report the location of any women near you (it has been withdrawn after some bad publicity). Some applications will make copies of your contact list and send to their servers. They are supposed to ask before doing so, but Apple does not enforce this rule. Why would they do this? Because knowing who your contacts are, and their interests from the Facebook sites, they can learn more about you and how to market to you. They might also reach out to your contacts to market to them directly.
With hundreds of thousands of apps available, some probably do things that they shouldn't. So be careful in the apps you choose.

  • Anti-virus/hacker protection for Iphone sms vulnerability

    Hi
With the widespread news of a text/sms vulnerability going round Iphones that once viewed can infect/take control of your iphone (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20090729121839257 plus many other recent news articles) I would like to know of what anti-virus/hacker prevention software there is available, either as an app, or apple download patch, that can properly protect the Iphone against this threat and others? The link I provided says there is a patch available via Itunes - please can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thank you for any help.

Matt, if you plug the iPhone into the computer iTunes will tell you the OS version you have. If 3.0.1 you are good to go. If 3.0 it will tell you there is a new version and ask if you want to install it. Installing 3.0.1 will fix the SMS vulnerability.

  • Spyware for iPhone 4

Are there any available spyware apps for an iPhone 4?

As is to detect and remove spyware, or to spy on someone else?
If you mean the former, I'm not aware of any spyware or other malware that affects iOS devices.

  • Is there a way to scan a Mac OS for viruses and spyware?

I've browsed some sites that I suspect might have given me some spyware or possibly viruses. I'm not sure because I don't have any effects on my mac (such as slowness, etc), but I would like to scan the computer if I could.

Wave your hands over the computer and say "I command all viruses to announce their presence!" If nobody speaks up, you don't have any viruses.
On a more serious note, there currently are no viruses or spyware for Macs. There are a few Trojan horses, programs which trick you into downloading them and installing them. Fortunately, they're fairly easy to avoid if you're not doing dumb stuff, like downloading "video plug-ins" from p0rn sites and installing them, or downloading a "free" version of Microsoft Office.
Chris suggested clamXav, but note that while its Windows virus definitions are up-to-date, it is currently unable to identify any of the Mac Trojans.

  • What anti virus software is recommended for iphone 3gs

what anti-virus software is recommended for iphone 3GS?

You don't need it for an iPhone, assuming that you have not made any unauthorised changes to the OS, such as jailbreaking.

  • Anti virus software for iPhone 4

Hi - am hoping someone can let me know if you need an anti virus software on your iPhone 4? I have been asked by my work to ensure that I have one but I don't think that one exists or is needed...looking for firm confirmation of this so I can show something official to work to assure them that it is all covered.
    Any assistance would be appreacited.
    Thanks.

Unless you jailbreak your phone, it is almost impossible for it to get a virus. There is an anti-virus program for iOS by Intego, however, what it does is scan email and attachments for viruses so that you can't pass them on to other, more vulnerable devices. There are currently no known viruses in the wild for un-jailbroken devices.
    Best of luck.

  • What is the best anti virus for iphone 5?

what is the best anti virus for iphone 5?

I concur with Tonefox; worthless. To preserve battery the best thing you can do is shut down apps that constantly run in the background and fetch data from servers elsewhere; the Facebook app being a prime example. Apple has more tips here:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
As to clearing memory, there's almost never a need, and if there is a simple restart of the iPhone will suffice.
    Regards.

  • Anti-Virus program for iPhone!

Does any one has the idea about anti-virus program for iPhone? When I download the email, I am so concern about the virus attached with the email? Maybe, Apple should consider developing specific anti-virus program for iPhone!

Maybe, Apple should consider developing specific
    anti-virus program for iPhone!
iPhone is running OSX not to say that Mac OSX can't catch a virus, but its the least out there to catch one! So for now I dont think you need to worry about that. I am sure apple will be putting software patches soon as there are some other problems with the iphone as we've all had with our brand new gadgets or computers before. So wait it out and apple most likely will do a fix to it. As to virus protection...most mac users don't have to worry about it, I'm pretty sure if the phone is running a phone version of OSX then virus protection should be one of the invisible features inside.

  • Internet Security, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware

What is the best internet security, anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware software to use on a MacBook Pro 13' (Late 2011 model) on both Mac and Windows 7 (Parallel 7) without slowing down or effecting the operating system too much ? Do I need to get the free or paid version ?

Although anti-virus software is not necessary on a Mac, you do need to be aware of what's out there and how to protect yourself against possible new threats. See my Mac Malware Guide.
As for running anti-virus in Windows 7, that's a Windows issue. I personally put AVG Free on the Windows machines used by my family, but I'm no Windows expert. I'm sure different folks here will have different recommendations, and a few of those folks may even be Windows experts! (In other words, that may be a question better suited for other forums where a higher percentage of Windows users hang out.)
