HT4993 I cant open my applications

I have been having several problems with my iphone 4S  : (someone please help!)
    - I cannot access my applications. Whenever I push the application, the phone screen slightly blinks for a second, but it will not enter the app and stay on the home screen.
    -  Siri cuts me off before I finish telling her my request, which she doesnt understand since she cut me off before I finished telling her :/
    - The contact that I add dont appear on the contact list. The only numbers that show in the list are the ones that were synced from the begining. Thr numbers are in the phone though because siri is able to make calls to those numbers. The numbers just arent showing up on the contact list.
    - Final thing that just started happening, which is probably a new network error is that my voice started to echo in the middle of a call, and a few really weird technology beeps also make appearances in the call.
I have restored the iphone. (I clicked the restore option on itunes and then restored the backed up copy of my phone's information from icloud. I cant lose a lot of my information which is why I chose a backup option) Somebody please help me fix one/all of these problems!

The app thing is easy to fix. just download a free app and it should work. the rest of the issues. do a restore without transferign a backup

  • YOU CANT OPEN THE APPLICATION --------- BECAUSE POWERPC APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTED.

    Hello
My problem when start (game)  i see  this error  YOU CANT OPEN THE APPLICATION --------- BECAUSE POWERPC APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER SUPPORTED.
mac book pro 2.2gh i7  Mountain Lion
    Please help me

Power PC applications - which your game evidently is -  are not supported by Mountain Lion (or Lion, for that matter).  You either need to make a partition/disk which runs Snow Leopard and run your game from there. Or you need to update your game to be compatible with the current Mac OS.

An .exe application is compiled for Windows. It will not run on a different OS. If you need to run this program, then you will have to install Windows on your Mac. Either as a separate bootable partition, or running in a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMWare.

I note this information from Wikipedia: "DVD Studio Pro was a high-end software tool published by Apple Inc. to allow users to create DVD masters to be sent out for replication at production houses. Its tight integration with other Apple applications allows users to take Final Cut Pro and Motion projects and render them into the DVD format without encoding to intermediary formats. This streamlines the production workflow and reduces overhead."
If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient.  Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
BTW: what Mac and what version of OS X?
If it is important to you to continue to use DVD Studio Pro, consider the option of installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels on your Mac:

Here is a post that I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3.  Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions, or find alternative software that will open your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:

Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2:  Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

I cant open some applications like preview or text edit after installing mavericks, i found a post that said im missing the Base.lproj files, this fixed my calendar application but i need the file for preview, can some one help?

    Hi vampyro33,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If it seems like system files are missing and applications are quitting unexpectedly, I'd suggest reinstalling Mavericks:

Did you try reseting your iPad. Press and hold both the home and power buttons for 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.

  • Cant open powerpoint application Ihave to export keynote .any ideas

I cant open the powerpoint program on my Imac. The opening icon just keeps revolving .
I have to export a Keynote presentation to PPt but is often scrambled at the other end.

PowerPoint is not an Apple product. I think you'll get better help here:

Be sure to post what version of Office you have. If yo have a PowerPC iMac you likely have too old a verison fo Office to open files send rom users witha  newer verrsion.  The hisghest version of Office that ran on a PowerPC Mac was Office 2008.
Do "About ths Mac" from your Apple menu. If the resulting window shows your processor to be Intel, you can upgrade to Office 2011.

Your post subject and the text of your post describe what sound like two different things. What is your actual situation? If you select the Applications folder and do a Finder -> Get Info, what settings do you see for "Sharing & permissions"?
What happens when you try to open an application? Does the icon in the Dock (assuming there is one) bounce at all?

  • My IPhoto broke it says you cant open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete

it says this you can't open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete please help me

    reinstall from the original source
    Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer
    or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
or (most likely for the limited information you provided)
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

  • 'You cant open the application Adobe Photoshop CS6 because it may be damaged or incomplete'

This Message appears after clicking on the icon after installing from creative cloud. Can't try installing again as AAM says that it is already installed.
    Installed on iMac OSX 10.6.8

After several days of this annoying me and trying various different things, I finally found the solution!!
Open Terminal and run this command and it will reset the launch services to let it work properly.
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fra mework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -domain locat -domain system -domain user
The problem began for me once I removed photoshop because the update kept failing.  So I uninstalled photoshop cs6 using their uninstall script, and then re-installed it with the creative cloud application manager.  From then on I could not "double click" on a .PSD to open photoshop directly, but "open with" would work.  Very strange.. but the above command fixed it.
Here are some screenshots of the issue:

  • Cant open iPhoto application as it may be damaged

I am unable to open iPhoto it comes up with an error message indicating that it may be damaged or incomplete?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Cant open Mail application

When I go to open Mail, it won't open and I get the swirling cursor. Does anyone know what to do?
    Thanks

    Hi oboeguy,
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these +folder & file+ to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
