Whenever i turn on ipad mail i get a message cannot gt mail the connection to the server failed
when i turn on ipad mail it says cannot get mail the conenction to the server failed
I had connection to my email last night when I went to bed. When I woke up this morning, my "hotmail" account wouldn't connect to the server. My other emails are fine but I cannot get my email to connect to the server. I called microsoft and asked and my email works on my computer but it's the strangest anomaly that my email of all days stops working now. I need it so bad to do work. I've already tried deleting the email and resetting it up twice but I just don't know what to do.
Thanks,
John -
Cannot Send Mail, the server rejected one of the recipient's addresses.
I receive mail just fine. Can't send anything
Interesting to read all your posts, as I too have had this issue with my BRAND NEW Wi Fi 3G 64 GB ipad. Everything worked perfectly well with wireless at home, then we left for a trip interstate. First night I tried to send three emails and received the message that the server had rejected one of the recipients and the messages had been placed into the out box. Most annoying, as the out box is not accessible. I phoned apple and, after much discussion, it was suggested I call my ISP (BigPond). Another lengthy discussion and it was noted that there were no messages in my out box on the server, therefore the issue was with the ipad. I downloaded gmail and was able to receive and send emails using that program. Was also able to access my emails via Big Pond's web mail. It was just the mail program on the ipad that continuously looped back to the same error message. I deleted the account and decided to ask for a refund on the ipad. Back home, I have reinstalled mail to my Big Pond account and all seems to be working well. Am not sure what to do next, as I will be very disappointed if this keeps happening. The ipad is an expensive investment and I want to be able to use it to its fullest extent. Otherwise, I love apple products and am a apple user of more than two decades.
Good luck all. -
Can't get MAIl to connect to Onetel server
Both my wife's (MacBook) and my IMac will not connect to the Onetel POP outgoing server - we get error message
+OK rslrimap1msp All emails need to go out using gmail or MobileMe. The incoming is OK.
It has not always been this way only in the past year and I wonder if it is a problem with upgrading software. If I use WebMail it is OK and Onetel have checked everything and say that there is nothing they can do - very frustrating.
I have recently upgraded to OS 10.7.3 but this has not solved the problem. Is there anyway that I can reload MAIL? - or is there any other solution. The settings work prefect on our iphone. Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -
TS3276 I cannot send mail. the server keeps asking for my password/user id for IMAP
Is there a way to have no passwords for either e-mail accounts.
Why am I continuously prompted for my IMAP and I do not know what that password is.Who is the provider of this email account? It can be very hard to distinguish between a PW prompt instigated by the Incoming server vs the Outgoing server. What are the recommended ports to use for each from this provider?

ITouch error Message Cannot send Mail.
My first generation iTouch has quite sending mail. I can receive email, but can not send. When I try to send mail I get the error message
Cannot Send Mail
The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.mac.com:jbleeg" failed.
I am using apples Mail program and have it set up as imap. When I right click on the inbox and choose Edit Imap Accout, I can see the incoming and out going settings match my ipod setting screen.
This used to work, but when apple went to this "cloud" and .me, it quit working.
I rarely send email from my iTouch so this is not a big problem, but annoying.
Any suggestions.
JerryThe other thing you might want to try on your touch is to just delete the mail account and re-enter it. This seems to fix a number of problems with e-mail when you are getting these types of errors.

Cannot send outgoing messages from my IPhone. Receive the following message:
Cannot Send Mail
The connection to the outgoing server"[email protected]" failed. Additional OUtgoign Mail Servers can be configured in Settings> Mail, Contacts, CalendarSee here for troubleshooting the SMTP settings (outgoing mail server on your carrier's servers)

Often removing a mail service from iPhone and resetting works -
I keep getting a message "cannot send mail" a copy has been placed in your outbox. The recipient was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying. How can I fix this error so I can send emails.
The issue definitely sounds like your Outgoing/SMTP settings need to be changed. Simply set them to the proper settings for your provider as was suggested above.
I found this link for Knology: http://support.knology.net/content/email.setup.cfm
The SMTP settings can be edited on the iPad/iPhone by going to Settings--> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, edit the account having trouble, click the Account, then at the bottom is the SMTP server info, click on it to edit it further.
It should allow you to edit the primary smtp server and let you enter all the good stuff as you see in the Knology link above.
Some providers require you to register your account on their service like AT&T. -
Hi my nan keeps Getting an error message of cannot get mail the connection to the server failed.... Can any one tell me what this means please
I too am getting this message. I have been using my iPad for two years with no problems but a couple of days ago I starting having this problem intermittently. On my I pad Mini I keep getting the message "Cannot get Mail" The connection to the server has failed.
But this is not the case everything works OK so why do I get the messageAn iOS fluke or mail app glitch maybe. Not sure anyone will know why you get it. Do you're ever close the mail app? Try closing it and reset the iPad and see if the message goes away.
Assuming that you are running iOS 7, in order to close apps, you drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Mail app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Hi StuNYC,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an alert message when opening Mail on your iOS devices. Do you have multiple email accounts setup on the devices? Take a look at the article below, it provides suggestions that will resolve most issues that cause an alert like that to appear in when starting the Mail app.
