I'm trying to restore my phone because I can't remember the password. I have followed all instructions to restore but continue to get an error message. Someone please help.

I'm still having this issue. I also had the same issue when trying to download a large update for an app (43MB). I can download and install smaller udpates but I can't even download the large updates. I've checked all of my firewall settings and they are fine. I've turned off the firewall when trying to download the update and it still does not work. It just keeps saying that my network connection timed out.
I'm not at the stage where I can't install new apps because it requires the latest OS version on my iphone which I can't get!

Been trying all night to sort out but just going around in circles

I have not seen a solution for that error but try:
- Place the iPod in DFU mode and then restore

- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Indeed you do, limit of three accounts exists for every device. You can use old icloud accounts or create account on new device and then sign in on that phone. That limit is only for creating and not for use.

I've tried a lot of the stuff mentioned at that link and elsewhere, modifying host files etc. trying to downgrade my iPhone 4 back to 5.1.1 no luck , apple has locked up 5.1.1 for my phone and iPad . one post said I'm "stuck with iOS 6" darn I should have been more careful. I have the 5.1.1 Ispw on my MacBook its a permissions thing I don't understand. I am trying to download iOS 5.1 on my iPhone and iPad. Both times it tries connecting to the software update server and just hangs there. I've tried doing both over wifi and get error message. What do I do?

I cannot download the ios 5.1. I'v tried doing it through itunes after downloading the latest itunes. It says that my phone and ipad both have new updates and tries to coonect to update software server. That is where it hangs up and just keeps trying to connect but never does. Then when I try to update my devices over wifi, it tries and thens gives me a download failed message after a few minutes. What do I do?

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting. Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
Change DNS Servers
Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.

I am having problems updating ios3 to ios4 on my ipad. download happens then i get an error message saying that network connection timed out and to check settings. any advice. also get error message 3259. is this related to my problem?

Iphone 5 will not back up to iTunes. I have never had this issue before but it has been consistent for the last two months. You need to restore using the computer you previouisly synced with, otherwise you'll be asked for the passcode.
You didn't forget your passcode (that you use every day) AND lose the computer you sync with on the same day, right? In that case, get the passcode from the phone's actual owner, or use recovery mode.

So I plugged my daughters iPhone into my iMac and restored my iPhones backup by mistake. The backup that was restored is very old and I have no idea what the passcode is. When I try to restore one of my daughter's backups i receive a message "Go to iCloud Settings on your iPhone and turn off Find My iPhone before restoring your iPhone." Obviously I can't access the phone to disable find my phone so i logged into icloud.com but the only device in there is my existing phone. So I am in the situation where I cannot turn off find my phone for my daughters phone and are locked out without being able to restore.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
