HT4993 why is my battery life so bad with ios6?

I had no problem with the battery life with the old operating system.  Now my phone is dead [with no use] within hours.  Yes, my apps are closed.  Yes, I totally drain and recharge at least once a month.  Yes, I have decreased my locations.  This is awful!  Is there help with this coming?

My iPad 2 battery life has cratered since updating to iOS 5.  I have done nothing to chage the iPad except install the update.  I use bluetooth, and it has never been a problem before, so I am not going to turn it off.  I use WiFi too, so I am not going to turn that off either.  I also use cellular data, so I am not turn that off either.  My fully charged iPad 2 will drain at least 33% overnight, just sitting there.  It is always slightly warm now. I can see this is going to kill my battery at least a year earlier than normal if the problem is not found.

  • Have 2 month old Touch 4th Gen why is the battery life so bad?

    Hi everyone,
I have a 2 month old 4th gen Touch and find that the battery life is very bad. My 2nd gen Touch still works and I've had that since it was released (and I understand why the battery isn't so good on that anymore). Ever since I've had this I have to charge it at least once a day, thought I had heard that the battery life on the 4th gen was never good to begin with but this does seem very frustrating. I admit that I tend to use my Touchto play games and use the Internet. I always turn off Wi-FI when not on the Internet and I turn off  push notifications and watch out for the brightness as well. I have IOS 5.1 but was wondering what other people think about the battery. I know I'm still under warranty but do not want to just get another touch if this will happen to any touch I would get as a replacement. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

How bad is "so bad?"  You need to determine the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.

  • Why is my battery life so bad on my iphone 4s. I signed up for a 2 yr contract with a new iphone 4s. The battery life didn't last a day. I went back to Apple and they replaced it with another iphone 4s. This one is just as bad. The iOS 5.0.1 does nothing!

I have never been so disappointed with an Apple Product such as the Iphone 4s. When I signed up with a new 2 year contract, I received my iphone 4s. I charged it fully the night before, then it didn't even last the day (with minimal usage). I turned off Location Services, Wi Fi, and Bluetooth, this helped a bit. But what is the point of turning these services off, when I NEED THEM!!!  The wonderful new Siri doesn't work properly without Location Services turned on.
So I upgraded to the iOS 5.0.1. version - that did absolutely nothing to assist the battery life.
Apple, what are you going to do about it?  My new Apple phone is a LEMON!
If I had of known how bad the battery life is on the iphone 4s, I would have got a Samsung Galaxy 2!!!!!

It doesn't really matter whether I am talking to Apple or not (and I'm sure they monitor these comments), I want everyone to know how bad this new iphone 4s is, and all of it's problems.
Apple have already launched an upgrade to the software - it obviously did not help, as many around the world would concur.
As far as being patient and waiting for another "update in the works" is concerned, it is just not satisfactory. This is not a cheap phone, and those who are experiencing these problems, should not have to be paying a substantial amount of money, for a very smart phone, that obviously, has some serious problems.

  • Why is my battery life so bad?

I've had my laptop for just over three years and the battery has become appalling.  It lasts for just over an hour without being attached to the mains, and is becoming unbearable.
As a student I'm probably working on it a few hours a week - is it just worn out and doesn't want to work anymore?
    Background Info:
Both the adapator and battery itself become quite warm when I'm using it, and I've replaced the adatopor twice (the first blew the circuits in my flat and the second simply stopped working) - could this be part of the issue?
I also know the style of laptop is notorious for the fan becoming over worked (I've had the fan replaced once) and the keys sometimes become sticky (I've had this cleaned when getting the fan replaced).

Have you also had the battery for 3 years? They are consumable and 3 years is a good life. Most 3 year old batteries do not run for an hour. As they get older the batteries do get hotter when charging as they have more electrical resistance.

  • Since I downloaded OS X lion, why is my battery life on my Mac Book Pro suffered

Why has my battery life suffered, since I downloaded OS X Lion on my Mac Book Pro?    How can I increase the battery life?

Get gfxCardStatus. It is a free menu bar application that keeps track of which graphics card your MacBook Pro is using at any given time.
    <http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33905/gfxcardstatus>
When you are running on the battery, you want to make sure you are using the "Integrated" graphics unit, as it is more power efficient.
You might also want to run Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor and see if there are any processes which are consuming an excess amount of CPU non-stop.

  • Why is my battery life worse after software update.

Why is my battery life worse following software update?

    Dont Bother Audre
If you have updated to 6.1.1 and your phone is outside the warrenty perios, then you WILL have issues, so you take your phone to Apple and they will give you a replacement for £139 and they will also say its much cheaper what you paid for your handset!!!!
Just wait for the next update - If they have a heart and care for the 4s users, they will fix the battery issue too
    Thanks

  • Why is my battery life so short on Iphone 4?

Why is my battery life so short on my new I phone 4 with Verizon?

if you have checked the specs and it all works out, you can do a number of things. first i would suggest that for a dat you turn off 3G and cellular data to see if your service is running it  down. you can do thing by going to settings-general-network-then turning them off. if this still doesn't work then try running it all the way down to 0% then giving it a full charge. i noticed that if regularly if you run the app Battery Pro Boost Magic to see whats taking up so much of your battery. if all of this fails to work then your battery might be defective so contact apple and try to get it replaced.

How do I determine if my battery life is bad??

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Battery still really bad with 3.1.2

*Why have the Battery Life issues with 3.1 still not been fixed with 3.1.2?*
It's quite simple, since upgrading from 3.0 to 3.1 on my 3GS i now get just a couple of hours of battery life with the phone sitting there on my desk idle. It's warm to the touch and is constantly sending out (or receiving) data (hold it near any unbalanced audio system to hear it chatter).
Change my Exchange Push settings to Fetch every 15 minutes and I suddenly get close to 3 days on idle including average phone call usage. No other changes required, but it's not what I signed up for....
Come on, it's a no brainer, why hasn't this been fixed?
It's been on these forums for long enough.
    Martin

    Greetings,
I never have had a battery issue, nor has our other iPhone - we have a 3G, mine, and a 3Gs, my wife's, and they work flawlessly in every respect. I have almost every service on and running, except for Bluetooth - I have no use for that service, but my push, fetch, go get, etc, stuff is on and working well. I sync with MobileMe, and Exchange, via, Entourage, and my MobileMe calendars address book, and I sync between the iPhone and 4 other computers, 3 Macs, and 1 Winblows at work. I have both a Mac and a Winblows PeeCee on my desk. All work in perfect harmony.
You may have a misbehaving application that's eating your battery. Calibrate your battery meter once a month, or so, so that it will read correctly. In many cases the battery is fine, but the meter gets out of calibration and when it thinks your battery is about done, it will shut it down, even though the battery has plenty of charge, however unusable.
You need to charge it up fully, and then discharge it through activity, then charge it back up, without using it, and then discharge it one more time, and then the same recharge routine.
After that you should get normal battery readings. If it doesn't you have a bad app, or a bad battery, which is extremely rare. You may need to take it to an Apple Store to get it replaced, or have a technician look at it.
Third Party Apps are the bane of most computers, smart phones, etc. Be careful what you install on your phone. Games are the worst apps and have been the major cause of smart phone issues, Apple, or otherwise.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Why does my battery die so quickly with iOS 7?

Why does my battery die so quickly with iOS 7? Charged to 100%. Unplugged and opened up an hour later. Down to 88%. Why? No apps open.

I think it might also be a bug, my 4S went down to 1% I could actually see it go down from 18% just like a watch. The phone started at about 60% and went down to 1% in about an hour but the useage still stated I had over 6 hours of stand by time, when I plugged in the phone to charge it jumped from 1% to 27%.

  • HT4623 why is my battery life dieing so quickly

I recently updated my ipad2.   Since then, my battery life dies so quickly.    I can use it once, close it, then open it again and the battery life is down 40%.    I used to get two days of life before the update.   I closed out all the "Location" request, the auto updates to apps, everything I thought was draining the battery life.  Why?

  • Battery life suddenly bad while idle at 80%

    Hey guys,
I have a macbook pro that I got about a month or two ago and the battery life has been great until about two days ago, I used to see a full charge carry for 5-6 hours now it's 2 hours if i'm lucky, as far as I know the only thing that has changed is installing apple updates which I doubt would cause my battery life to tank suddenly. My running conditions haven't changed, i've usually got the backlight low with dim keyboard light, wi-fi on and not running anything intensive as you can see below, just a code editor and some communication programs.
here's sample output from running top in a terminal
    Processes: 87 total, 5 running, 82 sleeping, 472 threads                                                                                                                                                                            12:20:54

Here are the specs on the laptop

Does anyone have any insight or tools I can use to diagnose this further?
    Thanks!

I tried that last night to no avail, but I found the answer. The dock had been running at 100% after the upgrade (don't know why it didn't show up in top, but showed up in activity monitor) so I followed this thread ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3138432?start=0&tstart=0 ) and now I'm back to expected battery life
