    Hi there nina777s,
You may want to try resetting the PRAM and SMC on your Mac as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • I can't turn off my Macbook pro since installation Mavericks

I can't turn off my Macbook pro since installation Mavericks.  When I push the start/power button, a black screen appears. asa I touch anything, the desktop reappears.  If I push the start/power button long enough, it shuts down, but I cannot keep doing this forever ? What's happening ?  I made sure alle programs/windows quit before trying to turn off...

    Hi Biouche,
the first three days after installing mavericks, the choice window you talk about didn't appear at all. (only that black screen and a forced "turnoff click" (which didn't feel fine to hear ;-)   But !  AFter the first three days, the choice window did appear again, with the choice to switch off/restart/etc.  so evertything back to normal (except, before the installation of mavericks, the choice window appeared already the same second after pushing the start button.  Now, it's like you said, waiting 2 full seconds.  still feels "scary", but anyway, at least i can turn off the macbook in a normal, safe way again.  So thanks for your reaction , a nice day toU2 ;-)

  • Can you turn off the charging feature when using accessories?

Can you turn off the charging feature when using accessories with the iPad?

You cannot overcharge the battery when using the power adapter. Once the battery is fully charged, the iPad will no longer continue to charge if it is still connected. I leave my iPad on the power adapter for hours on end - on weekends when I am not at work.

These are both worthwhile reading for concerns about the battery and how to properly maintain it.
I know nothing about external speakers with the iPad since I do not use them - but If the speaker is with a dock of some sort that charges the iPad - you should have no worries. If it is a dock that charges the iPad - I know of no way to turn off the charging feature, but it will not shorten the life of the battery anyway as long as the battery is properly maintained and cared for.

  • After install Mavericks I can't turn off my MacBook Pro from the power button.

Dear all, prior to install Mavericks in my MacBook Pro, when I pushed the power button it appeared a dialog box which gave me the option to turn off the copmuter choosing the right option.
After the installation of Mavericks, and obviuosly having the system running, when I push the power button it does just nothing.
Does anyone have the same issue? Have someone solved it?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers, for your attention and for your help.
    Kind regards.

You can turn off this new sleep feature and restore the shutdown/sleep dialog box  to pop up when you press the power button.
In Terminal copy & paste in the following command and then press enter:
defaults write com.apple.loginwindow PowerButtonSleepsSystem -bool no

  • Can't turn off my MacBook Pro...

Can someone help me with this problem?
I just can't turn off/restart my MacBook Pro using the menu. When I click "turn off" or "restart" nothing happens in 80% cases. I've already reseted the PMU, but it doesn't change much...
    If somebody has a clue...thanks!

    try resetting pram
    try test user account
close apps before trying the shut down or restart option (could be a specific program causing the shut down to hang)

  • Connecting iMac Keyboard to Macbook Pro while using iMac as external display

I'm trying to using my iMac wireless keyboad for my macbook pro while my iMac is in external display mode but I can't get the keyboad to connect. I've tried disconnecting the wireless keyboard from my iMac but it won't go into target display mode without the keyboad. Can I used my iMac wireless keyboard with my Macbook pro while my iMac is being used as an external display?

No, not reliably.  If it's paired with both machines you can turn it off and turn it back on but it's a toss up which machine it will connect with.  If you took it to another room so the iMac didn't see it, you'd have to disconnect the minidisplay port/thunderbolt cable and then it would exit target mode display.

  • I can't Turn off My MacBook Pro

I have a new MacBook pro and I'm having problems Powering down. When I go to shutdown it gives the usual wheel spinning then it freezes and nothing happens the only way I can get it to power down from there is by pressing the power button for a couple of seconds.. It starts up just fine. But I shouldn't have to do this every time i want to shut down. Anybody have any ideas

More to say... Say my friend, there is perhaps, a long-term solution to this anomaly. TechTool performs manual and/or automatic maintenance of the hard drive, directories, permissions, etc. and a slew of other useful tasks. The updated DVD version for the Intel Macs is due out in early July. If you have the Extended Apple Care, you can receive the new version now via the link provided. Otherwise, you may soon purchase the product direct from the vendor "Micromat" at the second link provided. In any event, this is what I plan to do once the product becomes available in the Protégé Pro Version. Despite what some may believe, the Mac OS doesn’t always repair itself.

  • Is it ok to turn off my macbook pro 2011

I would like to know if its ok to turn off my macbook pro 2011 every time its not in use , and its not connect to a power source .

It's ok to turn off your macbook if you're not using it for a period of time.  Just make sure the battery is not fully discharged when you do so.
I turn my off when i know i won't be using it for the day.
You can however, just close your lid if you plan on using your macbook a few hours later.

How do I connect a camera to the Macbook Pro when using the computer in clamshell mode with an exrternal monitor?

be sure to have an external trackpad keyboard or mouse as you will loose them on the computer once it is closed.
