Are you talking about reading/copying photos from the card reader on your printer ? If yes, please use the following instructions to map the card reader to your network:

Please can someone help me retrieve pictures from an iphone, I'm currently traveling for 4 months so can't access icloud from my laptop as I only have my iPad2. That's not possible. If the phone is gone then so are the pictures unless you transferred them to iPhoto.

I sincerely doubt that'll work. TO make it work you'd need some sort of file manager on the iPad.
Now if you had the camera connection kit, and the USB was one of the ones that work - I've had about a 50/50 success rate getting USB's to work, and the USB was formatted correctly you might be able to pull a photo off the USB into your device. In theory it works, there's just a lot of 'ifs'

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

The only way you can get pictures FROM your iPhone to your computer is if you took the pictures with your iPhone. The only other way you can move photos from the iPhone is to mail them to yourself ( which is very time consuming). if you have a Windows computer you need to have Windows Media Player 11 installed to "see" your S3's directories/folders when you attach it via USB .. this drove me crazy for a week trying to figure out as NO WHERE in the tutorials does it mention you need, at least for Windows XP, to install the latest WindowsMediaPlayer for Windows to recognize an Android phone and see it's files and folders
