I have iTunes gift cards but don't always want to redeem them. Sometimes I want to use my credit card. Do you have to automatically redeem the gift cards or can you select credit even if your gift card has a balance?

You can't choose which to use to pay for your order. The default order of payment is free credits first, if you have some, then store credits then credit card. I'm not sure how to explain this but this is what I know. You can contact support if you want for more info.

Does any balance show on your account ? My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my iOS devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Store and it should show on the screen that you are taken to).

Even tho iTunes is asking to confirm your credit card details, when you purchase something it will still draw from your iTunes balance first. I think it is just a security check to ensure no one else is using your account.
This happened to me a couple of days ago but i simply conformed my details and entered my card security code then itunes took the payment from my account balance.

Apple Gift Cards only work with Apple Store so yes it is possible. You would add it to your payment options when the preorder becomes available Friday.
However, if it is iTunes Gift Card, then no, it would only work with iTunes Store.

I'm not sure what you mean. Did you redeem the gift card to your iTunes Store account? If not, just give your brother the gift card and he can redeem it in his own iTunes Store account. If you did redeem the card, then there's no way to transfer the balance from your iTunes Store account to his. He'd have to use your iTunes Store account to make the purchases and sync to his devices.

I can't buy a song using a gift card.

I tried to buy a song on iTunes through my iPhone. I was using a gift card, not a credit card. However, when I tried to buy the song it brought me to the billing information page. I clicked "none" for credit card, then "done." Then I was asked if I still wanted to buy the song, so I clicked "yes." However, I was then brought back to the billing information page. I repeated the process, but was brought back, again! It's a continuous loop. Does anyone know what's going on or how to help? All I want to do is buy the song.

The App store is not letting me use my gift card to purchase any apps...ideas?

It is a $100 gift card and has already been redeemed and purchases have been made previously. There is a remaining balance on the card. When i sign into the app store, there used to be a balance that appeared beside the "account" tab, but now it is gone! Everytime I try to make a purchase, the app store asks me to confirm the billing information and to resign into my mac account. Once i sign in, it asks for my billing information again and the cycle continues. Not too sure what I'm supposed to do. Also, it has worked until yesterday when I downloaded the new itunes and synced my newly purchased iphone with my mac.

Several things to try ...
If you are running v10.6, install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
If you are running v10.7, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo)
That will reinstall the App Store for you. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
Try logging into the App Store and check your balance.
You can also view your balance is the account area at the iTunes Store on your Mac.
Apple - Apple Gift Cards
When you review your account in the Edit Payment Information window in either the Mac App Store or iTunes Store, don't forget to the click the Done button bottom right side of the window.
If nothing above has helped, try resetting your iTunes account. You can do that here > Apple - My Apple ID
And try deleting the cache associated with the App Store. Quit the App Store if it's open.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash. Try the App Store.

Can you select a scene using time code?

When you are selecting a scene from a larger clip can you designate in an out points using the time code?

Yes you can. I find that turning off skimming helps, but isn't necessary, too. Remember that when a clip in the Browser is selected, the Dashbord reflects that clip's timecode. JKL keys can help find a specific spot, and the left/right arrow keys will move the playhead one frame at a time. So, to specificaly type in timecode, here is how that is achieved:
1- Select a clip in Flimstrip view by clicking on it, or in List view by selecting the clip in the list, then clicking on the filmstrip preview above to make it active.
2- Click once on the timecode display in the Dashboard.
3- Type in timecode, using periods rather than colons;semi-colons. Hit return and the playhead will be at that timecode.
4- Hit "i" for an In-Point or "o" for an Out-Point.

There is some discussion in there of device "cloning"..though I don't see how they can do that and at least not technically violate the iTunes Store EULA....(1 license can be used by 1 person on multiple devices, or by many people on one device). As I understand it, and as Michael indicated, the only way to do what you want and not violate the EULA is to have 20 different Apple ID's...what the "cloner's" have chosen to do is use the Educational VPP www.apple.com/itunes/education
purchase sufficient licenses for all users, allocate a license to one Apple ID, clone that image to other iOS devices, and simply record the fact internally that the additional license(s) have been allocated to other Apple ID's....I work in healthcare, and our legal department isn't comfortable with that approach, and I can't see it really being legally viable in education....unless their are different terms for educational institutions....

I can't complete an album using a gift card

I currently have $12.01 in my iTunes credit and I want to buy an album which would cost $12.99, but because I already bought a single from the album it only costs $11.70. Careful of those gift cards on ebay. I know a guy that bought a $100 gift card from ebay for $75 and after he entered the code in his iTunes account, he got a note from Apple saying the purchase of the gift card was reported by the credit card company as a fraudulent purchase, so he lost the credit and was out the $75 + shipping he paid the ebay seller.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
