Purchases are deducted from the balance of a redeemd gift card code first. If the cost of the purchase exceeds that balance, then the difference is charged to your credit card.

I have moved to the US and am having troubles with my Apple account. I have been into stores to have it sorted but it is still not right. I am trying to buy an application but it wont accept my American card and wont allow me to change addresses
You will only be able to update apps if you use the country's App Store that you bought them with. So if you bought apps in the U.S. App Store, you must be signed into that store in order to update those apps. Apps are always tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them and to the store in which they were purchased.
I must admit that I have no firsthand knowledge of this whole process, but I have directed other users as to how to change stores and they have responded that they have done so without issue. I don't see why you would lose your purchases when using another store, but I can't swear to it. But when I try to reason it out, it would make no sense to me - in the event that you picked up and moved halfway across the world - that you would lose all previous purchases when you move. To me that doesn't make sense. It makes sense that you have to sign into that country store in order to update apps, but it doesn't make sense to me that you have to lose them if you move or have multiple residences.
I have read stories here from users that have multiple residences in different parts of the world and from what I remember reading, these users signed in and out of stores, depending upon where they were residing at that time.
Now since you closed that credit card account on your previous country, you will no longer be able to purchase from that country's store, but updating apps is predicated on the fact that you already own them anyway.
I wish I had the absolute definitive answer for you, but this is the best that I can come up with. -

You may well get additional temporary authorization holds on your credit card. Anytime you use the iTunes or App Store and you are asked to verify your account, which happens periodically (especially if you have not used it in awhile), an authorization hold may appear.
Again, they are not actual charges - think of it as Apple's billing system simply asking the credict card issuer "if I charged a dollar to this account, would the charge be honored?". When the bank's system replies affirmative, the hold is removed and disappears from your account. But no charge is actually submitted to the bank, nor processed by the bank. -

I have two small charges on my credit card from iTunes store and I would like to find out what they are. The number listed is a recording and tells me to come to the website for answers. Look at you purchase history.
Open itunes, click on your name in the top right corner and go to your account and look.
BTW, there is no telephone support for itunes at all. -

Not all content types are available in all countries, and unfortunately where you are you will only have apps, podcasts, iTunes U and free books - the full list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599 . As the terms of use of the stores state that you can only use your own country's store, you also can't get music or films from Apple from other country's stores.
Are there other music and/or film purchase download sites that you can use in the UAE ? For music you can also copy your own CDs and sync them to the iPad -

Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

ThanksThose are most likely authorization holds and they will eventually fall off the account without charging you any money.
