Is there a way on-line to learn the balance on an itunes gift card?

You can view a balance only from the iTunes or App Store apps on your iPod or via iTunes on a computer (or the App Store app in Mac OS X 10.6 or later). There is no way to view a balance or any other aspect of your iTunes Store account from a standard web browser.

How do I get my balance on my Itunes gift card?

If the card has been redeemed then its remaining amount should be on your account, the card itself is now effectively zero. My account's balance shows at the top left of the store's page on my computer's iTunes, and by logging in to view my account via the Store > View Account menu option. On my devices it shows at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app under my account id (or you can view your account via Settings > iTunes & App Stores and it should show on the screen that you are taken to).

Is there a way to access ibookstore from the mac without starting iTunes?

I was wondering if there is a way to search ibookstore from safari or something other than itunes. I really find itunes search chaotic since it returns results for movies, apps, music, podcast and tvshows when I am simply trying to find a book.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated! (as a side question is there any way to stop itunes for returning results for every possible type of media? When I am trying to find a movie I am in no way interested in an app by the same name)

I liked your fix, but after an input of:

...the cursor in Terminal went back to a prompt (not familar with Terminal I don't know if that's good or bad), yet, still nothing on the backspace. The backspace has become such a habit and now a clunky break in my workflow, I'd sure like to figure out what the fix might be.

Does the card not have its value written on it ? If not, then the only way to know its value is to successfully redeem it onto an account.

If the card is new/unused then was it issued in the same country as your account is based (they are only valid in their country of issue) ? Improving the handling of multiple line text fields is in our plans, but for now, you will have to add manual carriage returns (Enter).

If you are reading an article etc, and scroll way down to see comments for example, and want to return to where you were, a simple way is to highlight a few lines.
Yes, you can scroll back, but is there a way to "snap back" ?
If you are typing into a field, and scroll away, you can hit space to return to the point you were typing, etc.

Maybe I'm fool, but how I get the "day view"? I have three options on the top line, an icon that seems a computer (a square and two lines), a magnifying glass to search a especific item and a "plus" to add appointments. The "day view" isn't any more there - that's the point!!! Is there a way to remove or disable the "Clear List" button in the downloads list? I like to _keep_ my list populated with what I've downloaded but occasionally end up with it getting clicked on accident and lose the whole thing. Given that "Tools > Clear Recent History" dialog can accomplish the same thing I find Clear List to be irritating. So can I get rid of it in any way?

If you have either iMovie 09 or iMovie 11 you can do this easily using the Cutaway feature.
Go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that the Advanced Tools are enabled.
Now you jut drag and drop the 2nd clip onto hte first clip at the frame where you want the Cutaway to start. A popup menu will appear. Choose Cutaway.
Here is a good Tutorial.
If you have iMovie 08, let me know. There is a way to do it, but it is more complex.
