I have 30+ iPhoto Libraries, so every time I open one, iPhoto wants to copy the 3 events I had out there when MobileMe shut down. Those 3 events are already saved in the appropriate iPhoto libraries. Wish I had deleted them on MobileMe! How do I turn this process off?

As Larry mentioned I use a different DAM (digital asset management) appliclation, Media Pro 1. For other possible DAM apps visit  The DAM Forum which is for professional photographers.  There the various apps are discussed along with workflows.  If nothing else you'll get some good information on managing digital "negatives".
Media Pro lets you manage the folder organization of your photos and write metadata, keywords, titles, and other metadata directly back to the files.  No matter what app you go with have a backup plan in place to keep current backups of your source photos on separate hard drives.

Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!
Mine had 3GB and I just got rid of it all, here is how:
    METHOD ONE:
    Make a backup in iTunes
    open iBackupBot (Google it)
    Go to the relevant backup
Click on Multimedia File Manager and click on the other Multimedia files tab
Sort by filename by clicking the Filename tab
Find MediaDomain/Library/SMS/Attachments and highlight all of them, then press delete.  You can also click to export to a folder of your choice, if you want to save them that is.
    Then go to System Files>MediaDomain>Library>SMS>Attachments
They will be all listed here, highlight them all and press delete
Then just restore that backup using iTunes!
Tadaa! Space recovered, your messages are still there but without the attachments!  METHOD TWO:
Backup your device in iTunes and then to iCloud
Go to Settings>iCloud and toggle Documents & Data to OFF
Then do a 2nd backup to iTunes and iCloud
Then restore the device from iCloud and the message attachments should be gone, turn Documents & Data back on again in the settings
PLEASE NOTE: Method two is a much longer process but some users may feel more comfortable with this method.
P.S You may want to make two backups in case you get any of the above steps wrong, but it is simple to follow the above and not do anything wrong!
P.P.S You could also just go through every single conversation and delete the attachments one by one, but if you have hundreds or thousands of attachments, this will take a VERY LONG TIME!!!

  • For some strange reason the songs in my library are multiplying. For example, I really only have 4,000 songs but every time I open itunes I have 6,8,10,000 songs! Any one else have this problem.  How do I stop that from happening?

For some strange reason the songs in my library are multiplying. For example, I really only have 4,000 songs but every time I open itunes I have 6,8,10,000 songs! Any one else have this problem.  How do I stop that from happening?  I keep having to delete my library!

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • I have iTunes 10.4 and every time I open it my CPU usage hits 100%.  How do I stop this?

I have iTunes 10.4 and every time I open it my CPU usage hits 100%.  This makes my computer really slow and almost unusable.  How do I stop this?  Another effect is that I cannot log onto the iTunes Store.  I click on it and it says it is loading the iTunes store but the window remains blank.

    So do I!

  • Why do I have to sign into iTunes every time I open iTunes?

Why do I have to sign into iTunes every time I open iTunes? Before I stay signin until I logout and signin again if making a purchase.

its really annoying since nobody uses my computer and its password protected.... But like sometimes it does happen where i have to put it in, and other times it doesn't

  • HELP! IPhoto 08' crashes every time I open it. (Crash log posted)

So every time I open up IPhoto it crashes. I have a 15" Macbook Pro 2.4Ghz with 2 GB of 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM with 92GB of hard drive space left on a 160GB hard drive. I've tried reinstalling, reparing disk permissions, deleting the Thumb32Segment.data, Thumb64Segment.data and ThumbJPGSegment.data and rebuilding the IPhoto library but nothing is working. Additionally it works on all other users accounts. Ill post the log from IPhoto.crash.log:

The crash report above says iPhoto 7.1 and it's up to 7.1.1 now.
If it created a new library no problem then is strongly suggests that your current library is damaged.
    Some things to try:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums back.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • IPhoto 11 crashes every time it opens. Please help

Every time I open iPhoto I get a warning prompting me to repair my library. When the repair is complete iPhoto crashes. I cannot use it at all. Please Help.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
It sounds like you are in the Elements Organizer that came with your version of Premiere Elements.
That ? in the top left corner of the thumbnail indicates a file that is no longer in the hard drive save location as it was
when a copy of the file was included in the Elements Organizer.
    1. Do you know that the file(s) still exist? Could you have moved, deleted, or renamed file/folder involved? Can you go
to the hard drive save location for the file and actually find it there?
If you are working with Photoshop Elements instead of Premiere Elements, you have posted in the wrong forum. In that case, please post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator to see your thread here and move it from here to there.

I've open iTunes 3 times now and every time I have had to put all my music back on, can someone please help me

    Hi Ebstar...,
It sounds like there may be an issue with your iTunes library file and recreating your iTunes library may be the way to go.  You can find info on this here:

  • Why do I have to log in to sites where I have asked to be remembered every time I open firefix?

I have firefox on my laptop and on my desktop. On my laptop, when I start up, my tabs open to facebook, gmail and my other email portal and all are logged in and ready to go. On my desktop I have to log in every one of them every time. I have checked the boxes that say keep me logged in but they never do that. I want to fix this but I don't know how.

    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.

I am going to assume that you are working in NTSC.
In order to determine the present situation we need to gather information about the project set up and its computer environment. It is good that you did not encounter problems until now, but there are certain guidelines to avoid the pitfall surprises.
    1. When you open your Premiere Elements 10 Mac, you need to set a project preset so that it matches the properties of your source media (or as close as you can come to them) so that the program is directed to set up the correct space in the Edit Mode Monitor from which to edit. If you do nothing but OK your way pass the New Project dialog, you end up with the default project preset, NTSC DV Standard which represents 720 x 480 4:3. That is fine if that matches the frame size and other properties of your .mp4 and .mov video.
    2. When I was asking about computer resources, I was referring to installed and available RAM and free hard drive space? Your computer may not be optimized. If you have been working with a lot of projects, you may have pile ups of preview files and conformed audio in the Adobe Folder/Premiere Elements/10 (or whatever its counterpart is in a Mac setup). There are also conformed video files that may have to be cleaned out. See Edit Menu/Preferences/Media and the .mcdb files.
Is scaling in the Edit Mode Monitor the only project action that results in the program crashing?
Since you have said that everything was fine until this one particular project, I am suspecting compromised computer resources, problem with your Timeline content, and such, rather than a patch for something that never worked before.
I am not sure where it would be in the Mac directory, but see if you can find the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and delete it. In Windows 7 or 8 64 bit, it is found:
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    10.0
and in the 10.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete.
Let us see if any of the above has any impact on your situation.
    Thanks.

  • Every time I open After Effects CC 2014 I get an error message "Out of Memory. ( 23 :: 40 )"

I don't even have a project open when it pops up. I have tried updating, un-installing and re-installing, restarting my computer, and clearing my cache files. Any help?
I am using a Macbook Pro with 10.10.2 installed. 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Graphics.

    What version of CC 2014?
Does this happen immediately when you launch AE? At what point in the process does it pop up?

  • How do I stop iPhoto from freezing every time I open it?

My O/S is Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
    iPhoto version is 8.1.2
Does anyone know of a way to fix this so iPhoto will open without freezing?

Remember this was a test. It tells us that iPhoto is essentially sound and the issue is within your main library.
    Let's try repair that:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • I have been getting a popup every time I open safari. It will not allow me to use safari. It gives me a phone number to call to fix the problem. In the meantime I can't use safari.

I Have been getting a pop up when I open safari telling me there is a threat of a hacking attack
on my browser. It asks me to go to a website http//pctechief.com for a fix. I am afraid to reply to
    this website.

There are several ways to recover.
    1. Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press the key combination command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
    2. Press and hold command-W. You may hear repeating alert sounds. While holding the keys, click the OK button in the popup. A different popup may appear, which you can cancel out of as usual.
    3. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
    4. If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. None of the windows and tabs will reopen.
After closing the malicious page, from the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
