HT5163 does the sim card store pictures automatically?

I just did a software upgrade on my 4s, and after the 3 hours that it takes to do it finishes up, the phone says it needs to be restored!! Now, earlier it said it backed up everything but I'm not sure.
As i try to restore it, the phone comes on to show that I need to plug it into itunes and when it extracts the software, itunes says my phone is not found.
Help please!!!

There should be a SIM eject tool in the box.  Insert in the small hole on the right hand side of the iPhone to eject the tray. You have to get the correct angle.
I do not believe that a SIM eject tool has been provided for the past couple of years.

    I got the same message.
I bought an iPhone 5 at full retail price from an AT&T store. I requested the phone to be unlocked through their unlock portal. The AT&T unlock system asked for the IMEI number, a copy of my receipt showing that I bougth the phone at "No Commitment" price. A few hours later I received a message from AT&T stating that the unlock request was approved. I then followed the instructions to back up the phone and restore it through Itunes. The phone activates normally with the AT&T SIM card. But when I insert my VODAFONE SIM I get the massage "THE SIM CARD... etc.
I tried again to back up & restore the phone 3 or 4 times, no success. I have also allowed 24 hours for the unlock process to complete. Still no luck.
I have checked again on the AT&T Unlock Status portal and it shows "Unlock approved".
Where is the issue here? Do I have to call Apple or return the phone to AT&T and get the unlocked phone through the Apple Store?
Thanks for any help on this.

It appears that you have an iPhone that is locked to a carrier other than the one you were using. Now that you have tried to update the iOS, it has relocked. That is what happens if you are using a phone that has been hacked to unlock. You have also forfeited support from Apple and from this forum.

  • I bought an IPhone 4s at an Apple store whilst living in China with the carrier China Mobile. It is a prepaid phone (no plan). Can I use it in another country by changing the SIM card? Or does it need to be unlocked? Can it be unlocked?

I lived in China when I bought the IPhone 4s with China Mobile. It is prepaid so I have to put money on my phone when it runs out. Now I'm living in Mexico and I was wondering if I could keep using my IPhone with the mexican carrier TELCEL. Can I just insert a new SIM card from this company? Or does it have to be unlocked? BTW I had no contract with China Mobile. Thank you in advance:)

Could it be because the SIM card got damaged while I cut it to fit the IPhone?
Very likely. Hard to believe the carrier in Mexico doesn't have a micro-SIM card available.
Or somehow the Chinese carrier found out and locked it?
    No, which is not possible.
What can I do? Get a new SIM and see if it works again?
Get a micro-SIM from the carrier in Mexico that you don't have to manually cut down. If that carrier doesn't provide one, switch to another carrier that is not so low-budget.

Sounds like you are trying to use an iPhone that is locked to a particular
wireless carrier with the sim from another wireless carrier. Contact the wireless
provider that the iPhone is locked to and ask if they offer unlocking and if
you qualify. Only the wireless carrier that the iPhone is locked to can unlock
    it.

in many countries to make phones seem less expensive
carriers pay most of the phones price for the customer
but this come at the cost of the phone only being able to work
with the carrier this is called a sim lock
the only people who can remove a sim lock is the carrier which
the phone is sim locked to they been doing it like that for at least 20 years

  • The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. 3-UK

    Hi,
I've recently changed my iPhone from the UK Carrier o2 to the UK Carrier Three. When I inserted the 3 sim, iPhone immediately switches to a screen which indicates to connect iPhone to iTunes or allows you to slide for emergency. When I connected to iTunes the following message appears:
"The SIM card inserted into this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM that came with iPhone or visit the Carriers store to receive a replacement SIM."
When I went to the Three store they weren't able to tell me what was the problem and suggested I go to apple (unfortunatley I'm not able to go to an apple store any time soon). I bought the phone from apple not o2 so I don't think it's locked, and I would imagine it would say if that was the case?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Your 3G iPhone is locked to O2 and Peter's link to O2 unlock iPhone is the correct way to unlock.
I've had mine iPhone unlocked by O2 just by completing the unlocking form simple as that, 3 days later O2 sends a text message saying unlock is sucessful. Here you have to remove O2 simcard replace it with your new simcard (3) and connect to itunes and sync.
After completion 3 mobile shows on the iTunes summary, disconnect from iTunes and restart your iPhone. That's it.

  • "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported." On an unlocked replacement iPhone 5.

I live in the UK and recently got my US model (A1428) iPhone 5 repaired at a UK Apple store. They replaced it with the exact same model.
The original phone was factory unlocked and I was assuming that the replacement phone would also be. Having done some tests it seems like it is unlocked (e.g. it has 5/5 dots reception and 3G) but I cannot get past the activation stage [iTunes doesn't do the job either]. The following message keeps showing up:
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
I am planning on bringing it back for help. In the meantime I am able to (using itunes) enter recovery mode, do a restore, update the iOS, etc. but I doubt that would help so I am currently avoiding it.
    Any guidance is appreciated.

The message you received indicates that the phone is locked to a carrier other than the one for which you have a SIM. You'll need to take the issue up with Apple. Nothing you do with iTunes is going to make a difference.
I'm quite surprised that the UK Apple Store replaced a U.S. purchased phone. They usually won't.
    Best of luck.

Follow this article: iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service or No SIM
    Symptoms
In certain situations, iPhone may present one of the following symptoms:
"Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed" alert appears intermittently.
Status bar displays "No SIM" when a SIM card is installed.
    Resolution
If you encounter any of the above symptoms on your iPhone, try these steps to attempt to resolve the issue:
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you still are unable to resolve this issue, contact Apple support for further assistance.

  • "the SIM card inserted in the iPhone does not appear to be support" help?

Just doing this for my sister since she's has not been able to do so. From what she said, after she tried to update her iPhone 3G with the latest update, it came up with a message saying "the SIM card inserted in the iPhone does not appear to be supported." She also said that she tried to go through her phone but something came up where there was the itunes logo and the USB cord pointing toward it. We have tried going to the AT&T and Apple store but they just keep insisting that she purchases the new iphone. Because of that I am sure that they could fix our problem but they just want to sell the latest toy. Now, I've been searching through google and it keeps telling me to download some programs that will jailbreak it but I don't really trust downloading things off of the internet (unless I know they're safe). So, is there any way I can fix this problem? - Thanks

You seem to have a carrier-locked iPhone. Only the operator can help you unlock it. You need to contact them for instructions.
