You don't say what kind of connection you have, but if it's dial-up, you'll be old and gray before it finishes.

I will try am explain what I see: I hooked up my I Pod Clicked on Music checked Sync Music 1909 Songs select Playlist, Artists, albums, and genres checked Include music videos Playlists checked 50's Music checked 70's Music checked 80's Music checked 90's Music checked 2000 Music checked 2010 Music These are songs that I downloaded onto my I Tunes. I bought me a new computer but when my data was transferred from old computer to new computer a lot of my songs on my hard drive were lost, but they were able to save all my songs on I tunes. My I Pod is still connected Clicked on "On this Ipod" Music 938 Songs 2.2 days So my question to you is if I have 1,909 songs on my ITunes how come only 938 transferred to my IPod. So I have been restoring my iPhone5 from a backup for about 3 hours now however iTunes still says that it is going to take over 24 hours to complete the restore process and the progress bar hasn't moved much at all. I feel like something has gone wrong somehow and it shouldn't take this long to complete. Is there something I can do to speed up this process or do I just have to try to wait it out? I'm scared to just unplug my phone and try again since it might screw something up.

When I try to set a default for viewing all folders using the view options, it fails to apply this view to all folders. What am I doing wrong?

I open the 'view options', select the mode of viewing I want, click the 'always open in' and push the use as defaults button... this, by all accounts, should work to apply this mode of viewing to ALL my folders and subfolders... yet it does not.

I've had to work on this a little before it "stuck" to my preference; it appears that if you open a folder within a folder and set the option, it will apply to that and any within that, but not up a level. So you need to make sure you have it set at the top folder level and you have it set like this:
Also, if you have a folder in the dock, you will need to either control click it or - in my case I want column view - you need to Command click the folder and it'll open in column view. I've not liked this "feature" since it was changed in Snow Leopard; previously, you could just click on the folder and it would open the way you had it set.

Safarie, Camino, Opera ......ALL Crashing! What Am I Doing Wrong

Please Help........I have tried Safari (1.3), Opera(9.64.5270), and Camino(1.6.7) ......using each one as a browser with 10.3.9 .....
(I'm trying to upgrade from OS 9.2 on an old G4 Digital Audio tower, for use by the children for email and internet)
......and cannot get either of these browsers to stay up, ....each crashes within about 10 seconds of startup.
I've repaired Permissions, and trashed preference "PLIST" files for each of the browsers. Still no joy!
I'm connected via Ethernet cable to a 2Wire DSL modem and writing this email via my iMacG5, which is also connected to the 2Wire modem. I have no reason to suspect the modem which works fine with the iMac.
Any suggestions, set up on preferences?.....funny that each of these browsers are doing the same thing. Should I go back to OS 10.2.4 ? Safari seemed to work fine with that OS.

The crash report comes up in a pane which is a "mile long", and asks if I want to "send it to Apple".....this is what I think you are asking for?
Do you really need the entire report, OR.....the last line or two?
How do I do this?..... I can highlight the entire report, but I cannot then COPY/PASTE the crash report details, all I can do is a screen capture of the last few lines, and then somehow get the screen capture transferred to this iMac for posting on this forum.
Like I mentioned, I do not have internet or email on the G4, ....I would have to type it manually into this iMacG5 to send it to you.
The last line or two goes something like this:

I can't get TextWrangler to work as a comparison tool - what am I doing wrong?

I've followed your help advice for 'Compare local and remote files for differences' and I can't get it to work.
I have an iMac running OSX 10.7.2. I have Dreamweaver 5 and TextWrangler (3.5.3) installed in my Applications folder. In Dreamweaver, selected Edit - Preferences - File compare.
Then I've added the code: Macintosh HD:usr:bin:twdiff
However if I right click a local file and select 'Compare with Remote Server', I get a message saying 'There is no remote version of xxx to compare'
This is despite the fact that I am connected to the remote site and can see the matching version of the file in the remote section.
What am I doing wrong?

You may have installed your TextWrangler application without administrator privileges. In this you'll have to look for the twdiff file in the Local Applications Support Folder (refer to TextWrangler User Manual).
To fix your problem with Dreamweaver, while selecting your File Compare tool, try looking for the twdiff file in the following location :
Macintosh HD:usr:local:bin:twdiff
That should definitely work. It did for me

Keywords, Lightroom and Bridge. What am I doing wrong?

Whenever I save a keyword to an xmp sidecar file or to a dng file in Lightroom 5.2, and then search for that keyword in Bridge CC, the file associated with that keyword will not show up. However, if I navigate to that destination folder of that file, the keywords will be listed., and from that point on, when I search for that keyword again, the file will show up. In Lightroom I am saving the metadata to the file. What am I doing wrong?

Not much. If you want to search for a keyword in Bridge you best use the Find command itself. Be sure to set the correct fields and also check both the options for include subfolders and non indexed files. The latter is pretty important.
As you already discovered after viewing the file in Bridge the keyword was found, thanks to the fact Bridge had cached and indexed the file during your first selection. Files that never have been cached are also not indexed (Bridge reads the content of the metadata and saves it to its database) Only after having the data in its own database it is able to search for the files.

HTML emails require you to save the images on a server then link to those images with absolute links in the email.
The recipient's email client also needs to be set up to view images (many aren't).

If the file is a correctly formatted AAC file with the .m4r file extension and less than 40 seconds long, then iTunes should put it into the Tones section of the library and move it into the Tones folder inside your media folder.
I've just checked the current version of iTunes behaves as I've desribed, which it does for me at least.
You may need to have some tones in your library for the tones tab to display when the device is connected.

By photo CD do you mean you're trying to burn image files to a CD disk from iPhoto? How are you going about this?

The challenge with the older round AirPort Extremes are that they are "g" wireless devices.
When you configure them for WDS, the speed on the wireless network is cut in half...and probably will not have the bandwidth required to stream video reliably from either AirPort Extreme since both are affected by the WDS setup.
There is not an "automated" setup for WDS. You have to do this manually on both AirPort Extremes. Unfortunately, it is not an easy configuration and it's easy to make a mistake and hard to recover without starting all over again.

Adding a single AirPort Express will unfortunately not help. You have to have "n" wireless devices at all router points.
