HT5191 upgrade iTunes to 10.6 crashes
dialog box pops up with "invalid signature" then download stops.
Tried a couple things like restarting the computer after disconnecting iPad - same error.

Auto-upgraded to itunes 6.0.5 - crashes ever since
I auto-upgraded to itunes 6.0.5 - crashes ever since. I have - corrected preferences, restarted, closed all other programs, restarted.
Tried to re-install itunes with fresh copy downloaded from your site.
On re-installation dialogue box says the three packages have been disabled.
Got rid of all iTune prefs I could find, tried again, same thing.
SO: I can't use Itunes, i cant re-install ITunes.
PLEASE, someone tell me what to do!Remove the 'iTunesX.pkg' and (if present) the 'iTunesX 6.0.4' files from ./Library/Receipts.
That should at least enable you to re-install iTunes.
If iTunes keeps crashing, it might help to re-run the latest combo-update for Mac OS X 10.3.
Sometimes it can fix these kind of problems.

ITunes 7.0.1 crashes and corrupts - DON'T UPGRADE!
Installed iTunes 7.0.1 on three state of the art computers and it crashed in each case. All computers running Windows XP Pro. All installations were by an experienced techie logged in to the Administrator account.
Furthermore, iTunes 7.0.1 corrupted the iTunes database files, making them useless.
I've been using and upgrading iTunes for two years with no problems until 7.0.1.
Thank you, Apple engineers, for imitating Microsoft by completely ruining what used to be a decent product.
Apple is FUBAR.
DO NOT UPGRADE TO THIS JUNK unless you really want to spend your time rolling back to 6.0.5.20 instead of listening to music.

HELP! Itunes 11.1.4 crashes immediately when trying to switch stores
I have 2 stores accounts. I just upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.1 which came with iTunes 11.1.4.
When I sign out from one account to switch to the other, iTunes freezes during the logout process, and while reloading the iTunes Store, the immediately crashes and quits. This is driving me nuts! I have 70 apps to update!

Weird bug after upgrading itunes to 7.5 and going back to 7.2
hey everyone,
I've made a series of mistakes. I run OS X 10.3.9 on a G4 desktop. I upgraded itunes 7.2 to 7.5 and when it didn't work i tried to go back. I found a way, but i didn't uninstall 7.5 correctly and developed a bug. whenever i click on a .wav or .aif in column view in Finder or Pro Tools the window or application crashes.
I re-upgraded to itunes 7.5 in hope of fixing this, but nothing.

thanks in advanceit could be quicktime. When my dumb *** updated itunes, i also updated QT from 6.5.2 to 7.3. That version didn't work with my digidesign hardware and i had to find a way to downgrade. I found this link: http://fox-gieg.com/tutorials/2005/undo-quicktime-7/

Just upgraded iTunes to version 11.0.2.26...... now have no music or apps..... they are still in the iTunes library on the pc, just not in the iTunes interface.... ideas anyone..?
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Note with iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show all your purchases with cloud icons that allow them to be streamed or downloaded from Apple's servers.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
If, for some inexplicable reason, the media has been removed from your computer see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Recently had to get a new laptop, everything was showing up correctly on the old one in the process of transferring music as far as playlists and albums. I recently went to sync my Classic and found it had most of my albums missing completely or the titles changed to "Unknown Album." My playlists are missing completely, and my "most played, etc" albums are blank. This is all on the new laptop, I haven't tried to plug in the ipod Classic or Iphone 4s to sync yet since the original transfer a month ago.

Upgraded itunes now XP SP3 computer continually reboots even in safe mode
I don't understand how a software program can be written by a leading-edge professional company and cause a computer's operating system to crash. I have Windows XP, 32-bit, SP3. I plugged my iPhone 4S into my computer for the first time to upload some songs from itunes. iTunes stated that I must update iTunes to work with the iPhone. Since I have had trouble every single time I have updated iTunes, I considered not updating, but I figured having songs in my iPhone was something that was worth having to possibly recreate my iTunes library for once again, since the library had been corrupted by every previous iTunes upgrade. So I chose to upgrade iTunes. Well, the last thing I saw my computer display was that iTunes upgrade was complete and now I would have to reboot my computer. The first reboot presented me with the "something occurred the last time windows started" screen where I could choose to start windows normally, which is odd because there had been no problem with the last reboot. I selected "start windows normally". Very quickly I was presented with some kind of blue error screen that quickly disappeared and the computer automatically restarted itself. I selected "use last known good configuration" the second time around. Same thing, very quick blue error screen that there is not enough time to read one sentence followed by automatic restart. Same thing when I selected start in safe mode. I have a suspicion that this is some kind of purposeful programming on Apple's part to make me as a Windows user think Windows is unstable and a poor product so I will go out and buy a Mac. Well, no, unless anyone has any suggestions for me to recover by Apple's poorly written iTunes software, I will just reload Windows, reload the latest version of iTunes for the final time. The next time iTunes requires me to update to use one of their new products, I will return the new product to the store and find another product to take its place. I would appreciate any suggestions any other users have. I am pretty disgusted right now.

Once again - upgrading iTunes - reports library file damaged, all missing
So, I've finally figured it out. When ever I upgrade iTunes, the new version doesn't like the old library file and marks it as damaged.
All content is lost - as far as itunes is concerned. But it's right there on the hard drive. In the itunes folder.
Making a new library file and point the preferences to the content still results in nothing showing up.
No, I have not sync'd since this happened. I have many files in the itunes folders on my HD where the content is not loaded on my itv4.
Is there a magic key combo to have it 'look' at the actual HD contents in the itunes folded and 'find' it ?
No, holding down SHIFT when launching itunes and then creating a new file is not the solution, nor selecting the old library file (says it's damaged).For general library squiffiness following an upgrade the easiest thing is to restore your last backup, but I guess if it were that simple you wouldn't be here.

Hi - I recently "upgraded" Itunes, and can no loner sync my ipod Vid with itunes. It’s asking me to erase the ipod, and re-sync. The problem is that the new itunes has lost all my play lists and "ratings", so I'm basically SOL and need to re-create 2 years worth of categorizing.
My question is, can anyone help correct this ??

- Make this your syncing computer/iTunes library.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
- Or be satisfied with only being able to sync music and videos to the iPod from this library/computer. To do that you need to use the manual method included here:

My "itunes library" folder is empty. My libray music (prior to upgrading itunes) is now in an .xml file in my itunes location under my music. How do I extract/convert this .xml file to a Itunes database and restore my Itunes music library??? Thanks, Tom
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Random library storage after "upgrading" iTunes library
I recently upgraded my library and found that some of the upgraded songs were stored in proper location in the iTunes library whiles others were stored in the parent folder. Something must be forcing that selection because I even deleted the files from the library and reintalled them and they were again stored in the parent folder rather than the iTunes library. I haven't changed the preference location and most of the upgraded music was stored properly. Indeed, the random storage issue affected some songs in an upgraded album but not all.

I know there is another thread with the same title as mine; however, I want to avoid getting caught up in whether or not removing iBooks solves the problem or not.
One of the reasons why I didn't want to go onto that thread is because I noticed that no one from Apple has yet posted any recommendation.
I have a MacBook Pro. I run Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
I had some problems with iTunes 11.1.4 crashing, so I was glad to see 11.1.5 available. Sadly, this version has crashed more often as soon as I can start it up than 11.1.4 ever did.
I hope all those who are experiencing the same problem request and even expect Apple to truly solve this issue.
If the solution is 'truly' to remove iBooks and reinstall let's have someone from Apple say so. There were a few users on the other thread that they haven't reinstall iBooks to avoid causing problems, so in my opinion that isn't a solution.
I also hope that Apple allows me (us) to download and resintall 11.1.4, since it was a lot more stable than 11.1.5 is.Hey there. I had my mac book pro running 10.6.8 in the shop to fix a spotlight issue, and with out my permission, the tech updated all my software including iTunes to 11.1.5. I made this discovery when trying to connect my iPhone, which it didn't recognize, and then trying to launch iTunes, which also bounced endlessly in the dock with out ever launching. I had a recent back up with my old version of iTunes, and I tried trashing anything related to itunes 11.1.5, and dragging the old version over. That allowed iTunes to launch and function, however, it still wouldn't recognize the contents of my phone and tried to force me to restore it which would have automatically upgraded to IOS7.1, something else I didn't want to do.
I ended up rebotting from my back up drive, erasing my internal SSD, and then reinstalling everything from the back up.
Now everything works perfectly!
Apple has a nasty habit of making upgrades that work with the newest operating systems across the board, but that have all kinds of problems with older OS's. I don't know if you have an older back up that you can restore from, but that worked for me.
Apple likes to herd people like sheep into their newer systems, and one way they do it is by making the older systems less compatible.
Note to everyone:
Please thoroughly research all the consequences before upgrading any system. They're all intertwined, and it's time well spent. -
ITunes 10.4.1. crashes all the time! Help!!
Used iTunes yesterday & everything was fine. Reinstalled Skype and since then, iTunes crashes during the sync. Deselected Music Videos, didn't help. QuickTime v 7.7. Should I uninstall and re-install? Downgrade to 10.3?? Thanks for any help.

You managed to solve this? I haven't had any luck yet, will just try and remove quicktime and reinstall, see if it helps... doubt it will though, or maybe I should try and find an older version of quicktime?
