I like to know what happens to my apps if I update my software???
If you update via wifi (Settings>General>Software Update (available with iOS 5 only)) noting is lost unless something bad happens.
- If you update via USB/iTunes, all the synced media have to be in the iTunes library since the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

You can import the photos to a coouter and sync them back to the restored iPod. However, they will be in a new album, not the Camera Roll album
You can email the Notes and then cut and paste them to Notes in the restored iPod

If you mean depressing the buttons until the Apple icon appear then no. How you resetdepends upon the model Nano.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

I updated my iPod/iTunes software and now I can't get it to shuffle songs in a playlist; it either shuffles albums in a playlist or songs on the whole iPod, neither of which is what I want to do. How do I get it to shuffle songs in just one playlist?
The shuffle setting in the main menu will shuffle through the entire library as you have found out.
You need to go to settings>shuffle this will toggle through off/song/album. Once you have set this it will stay the same until you change the setting.
Now when you start playing a song in a playlist the iPod will shuffle through that playlist (or if you select your song through artist then it will shuffle through all the songs for that artist etc) -
My car stereo, an Alpine CDE-121, won't recognize my iPod mini. I get an Error 02 message indicating that I need to update the iPod's software, but iTunes tells me that the software is updated.
Is this particular car stereo stated as being compatible with your iPod Mini? If you aren't sure, check the manufacturer's support site or give the car stereo manufacturer a call.

What will happen to my apps and data i haveMake sure you have a backup of your data and the backup folder created by iTunes is also part of it.
Check this article for more info about the location of the folder. You can also use TimeMachine, to make sure all data can be restored if necessary.

maybe a wierd question .. i might be a little scard from to much windows exposer hahaI don't blame you for your concern, but what will happen is probably nothing. No apps are installed, just new or updated drivers.
If you click the link associated with that update you will see a comprehensive list of all the updated HP drivers. The update probably delivers drivers for newer HP printers, leaving the older ones unaffected. If your existing printer is working you can just ignore the update.
I'm still using a LaserJet that I bought in 1993; the update didn't change anything.
If you are in the market for a new printer I recommend researching other manufacturers.
