No. Your iMac only has DVI video connection. You would need an iMac with Thunderbolt.

Is it possible to use as a monitor for a macbook pro an IMAC (early 2006)?

There's no direct input, but ScreenRecycler and Air Display both allow you to use any networked computer as additional display. I haven't tried either but perhaps one of them would work for you.

I havent used the phone since I got my iPhone 4. Anyone who know how I can reset the phone to standard installation or just get acces to the phone. There is no SIM card in the phone.

    Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for your prompt response, however I have first seen it now. I have placed an active SIM card in the iPhone turned it off and on. It now says SIM locked, please write access code. The problem is I don't remember the password. When I connect it to iTunes it tell me that I have to write the password before it can be used with iTunes...... Do you have any good ideas? I see you are from the NYC area.... used to work there back in the early 90´   Those were good days..... What a City

  • I would like to use Formcentral form data to populate a pdf with the same fields.  Is that possible?

I would like to use Formcentral form data to populate a pdf with the same fields.  Is that possible?

    Randy,
We have an application that I would like to have in Formscentral.  That application is also in a larger PDF file that once filled in populates all the other forms below it (lease, credit check form, ect).  If the Application on Formscentral keep the same field names as the pdf can I pull the data from formscentral and sill populate the old application pdf so that all the forms below it will be also populated.

  • Can I use My Ibook G4 as a Second Monitor For My Mac Mini G4

    Hi
I wonderd if theres any way of being able to use my 14'' Ibook G4 as a second monitor for my Mac Mini G4? I already have a Samsung SyncMaster 913n. Is there any way of doing this by firewire using both monitors, if not what cables would I need?
    Thanks

There is a application called Synergy which you may find useful. It allows the keyboard, mouse and clipboard to be shared across computers, and even different operating systems. It's not strictly what you have asked for as each computer still runs it's applications (and operating system) separately, meaning you can not drag windows between the screens, but by allowing you to copy and paste between the computers, and seamlessly slide your mouse and keyboard input between them you may get the effect you desire. Oh, and it is free and open-source, so why not give it a whirl?
You will need to connect the machines with a TCP/IP network, which can be done either with an ethernet patch cable, or alternatively as you suggest, using FireWire - these two articles may assist you in setting that up: IP over FireWire in Panther and Tiger.
As a point of note, a commercial program, MaxiVista allows exactly what you are looking for under Microsoft Windows.
    Hope that helps.

  • Using an emac as a monitor for a mac mini

    Hi,
Sorry if the question was already asked, but a quick search in the forum brought no answer.
I have an emac (OS9) and a mac mini(OSX). I'd like to use the emac as a monitor for the mac mini. Is it possible? How? (Both are G4, although I don't think that's relevant : I don't want to use them at the same time, only to use the Emac as a "screen")
    Many thanks.

I happen to know for a fact that you can use the internal screen on an iMac G3 333, and presumably also a 266 and 233. It has a fixed horizontal frequency so it will only display the resolutions that you can choose with it's motherboard installed: 640x480@117Hz, 800x600@95Hz, and 1024x768@75Hz. With DisplayConfigX I was even able to get other resolutions, as long as I stayed within the 60kHz horizontal frequency. If try to set it to any other resolution and refresh rate it will not work, so the best way to test it is to have another screen as your main screen so that you can set the resolutions on the iMac screen from there. I imagine that the screen in the eMac does not have a fixed horizontal frequency, so if you got the pinouts, you could probably get it working. However, I made a custom video cable for a slot loading iMac G3, and I couldn't get it to work.

  • Is it possible use an iMac 21,5" as secondary monitor for windows 7 laptop

    Hello everybody,
Recently (less than one year ago) i bought an iMac 21,5".
Now i would like to use it as secondary monitor for my laptop. (My laptop runs Windows 7).
Is it possible? (I found conflicting opinions on the web, even on the Apple forum).
What type of cable do I need?
(I will appreciate also a link to the product on some online store: preferably apple store, but also amozon, ebay, etc.)
    Thank you in advance.

    SOrry to say, but no.
The 2011 iMacs can only be used as a second display via a Thunderbolt-to-Thunderbolt cable.
The other way around (from Thunderbolt-to-DisplayPort) would work.

  • Using a iMac, early 2009 as a monitor for a new macbook pro?

    Hi,
I bought a new macbook pro 17 inch, and I have an iMac 24-inch, Early 2009, how do I use the iMac as a monitor?
    What cables should I buy?
    Thank you
    osmane

You don't. Only the 27" iMac can be used as an external monitor, unless you install something like ScreenRecycler:

Note that performance of the iMac-as-external-monitor will be slow using ScreenRecycler.

  • Possible to use iMac 27" as monitor for PPC Mac Mini (DVI)?

This question appeared on the support community, about 4 years ago, but the adapter mentioned as a solution is now discontinued.

I have an old PPC-based Mac Mini that I would like to connect to my new iMac 27", but my Mac Mini has DVI output and the iMac 27" has Mini DisplayPort input. Is this the only way to connect a PPC Mac Mini (or any DVI device) to the iMac 27"?
    http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-p-17859.html
I am in the same exact situation, and would appreciate any suggestions!
    Thanks!

Sorry, no the MM is simply too old. Please read Apple's FAQ on Target Display Mode and you will see:

  • Can iMac be used as external monitor for old Mac Mini?

I just bought a used Mac Mini PPC 1.4GHZ, 1GB Ram, 80GB HD. It will be shipped to my parents out of state but until then I need to configure it at home. Can I connect it to my iMac 20"?
In other words, is there any way to turn off the direct connect of the iMac's internal workings to the screen and have the screen used temporarily by a different computer?

Although you can "remote control" any Mac from your iMac20" through a network connection (using Screen Sharing in Leopard, or free VNC software in earlier OSX releases), you will need a real monitor to do the initial set up of the Mini - including the steps necessary to activate screen sharing.
The only iMac that had any video input ability was the original CRT Bondi blue iMac from many years ago. Your iMac has video output, but no video input.

  • Using new iMAC 27 inch as a monitor for Macbook Pro/Air

Can the new iMac 27 inch be used as a monitor?  If so, while it's being used as a monitor connected to a macbook pro/air, will the iMac USB ports work and the camera for facetime?  Planning on using the laptop in clamshell mode and stored away.

The new 27-inch iMac can be used as an external display for other Macs with Thunderbolt (Early 2011 and newer MacBooks Pro, and Mid 2011 and newer MacBooks Air). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
As far as I know, you can't use the camera (I may be wrong), but you can use the USB ports only for the iMac, not for the MacBook Pro or MacBook Air. If you want both features, you have to buy the LED Cinema Display or the Thunderbolt Display

  • Can I use my iMac (Flat Panel) as a monitor for my laptops?

Hi. I've got a MacBook, MacBook Pro, and a iMac Flat Panel. I'd like to use the Flat Panel as monitor for the two laptops (not simultaneously, of course.) Is this possible? If so, what's the best way to set it up?

    Download and set up ScreenRecycler.

  • How do I use my iMac(late 2009) as a monitor for my MBP(2012) or my MBP(late 2010) without software?

I currently have a late 2009 iMac, a 2012 MBP, a mid 2010 MBP and a MinDisplay Port (MDP) male to male cable. I am trying to either use the iMac a second monitor for one of the MBPs or mirror the display.
The iMac has a MDP port and is running OS X 10.7.5 (Lion)
The MBP 2010 has a MDP port and is running OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)
The MBP 2012 has a Thunderbolt port and is running OS X 10.9 (Maverics)
When I connect the 2010 MBP to the iMac with the MDP cable the screen of the iMac goes black and the MBP flashes blue. I have been looking for a solution and I have tried:
Rebooting them in the order of: connecting the cable, turing on the MBP, then turing on the iMac
Whilst they are on simply plugging the cable between the two
Connecting them with the cable while they are on, then pressing cmd-f1 on the MBP
Connecting them with the cable while they are on, then pressing cmd-f1 on the iMac
Pressing cmd-f2 on the iMac, whilst there are connected, only toggles a black screen on the iMac
Pressing cmd-f2 on the MBP doesn't do anything
Every time I connect the MBP 2012 to the iMac with the MDP cable, the MBP screen goes black and the computor screen becomes unresponsive but the screen stays on and I have to reboot the MBP.
I will really appreciate anyone who has any information on this topic.
    Thanks
