HT5248 How do you start the dictate feature?

After the update iWork still looks the same and search Help did not bring anything up. So how to you start the dictate feature to have your speech to text?

Once you upgrade to ML, you go to System Preferences and enable it. Then you select your shortcut for turning it on and off. The default is a double-tap on the fn key.

  • How do you start the hardware test on an imac with bluetooth keyboard

How do you start the apple hardware test on an imac with a bluetooth keyboard as the instructions is to press the D key whilst restarting? And of course the imac cant see the keyboard whilst booting up as the bluetooth connection has yet to be established

Have you tried following the directions for running it from the DVD? The instructions are on the Hardware Test link.If you are correct and it cannot due to the wireless keyboard not making a connection you will need to borrow a wired USB keyboard.

how can you start the tag config editor from a vi or when labview starts?

    Hi,
There is a VI called "dsc_TagEditorLauncher.vi" under "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\project\lvdsc" folder that can be used to launch the TCE programmatically. I hope this helps.

  • How do you start the lightroom app on an ipad offline

I have a Mac with Lightroom 5.6 and a new iPad mini 3 with the current lightroom app. I have synced three test catalogues and enabled offline editing for one so I can review photos and share them on the iPad offline. However the Lightroom app wants me to log in before it starts which I cannot do offline. I have scoured the web. Am I missing something obvious here? How do I start the app offline?

One odd thing is that you say you have synced 3 catalogues. You can only sync one. Do you mean collections?
As for signing in, initially you will have to be online, either through a SIM card or on a network, because you have to point the app to your account and let it sync photos. After then, when you're offline you don't need to sign in start using the app. You're not signing out, are you?

  • How do you start the Brochure "getting started" piece?

I'm sure it's obvious to the folks that use this software how to use this download, but can't see anything that indicates how.
Yes, I downloaded the files and they went into my download folder on my MacPro, I then decided to move them to another more convenient to find folder.  This is what the unzipped  contents of the folder look like:
The contents of the "read me" file look like this:
Opening the folder in Finder does nothing more than display the contents as shown as above.
There are no other clues, that I can find, on how to start the Getting started tutorial.
    Ken

    Hello Ken,
To get started, just start watching the first video in the series on the same page you grabbed the file download from.  As you progress through the content, the presenter will let you know when you need to bring in the various sample files you downloaded.
Please let me know if I did not understand your question correctly.

  • How do you start the Brush tool from a last anchor point?

    Hi there,
I'm somewhat almost a complete newb to Illustrator, and would really appreciate some help!
Is there any possible way to continue a brush stroke from your last brush stroke's end point (the anchor point)? For instance, if I drew half of a circle with one brush stroke, and wanted to cleanly complete the circle by having the next brush stroke start from the point where I last finished, how would I do that?
    Any help much appreciated! Thanks!

What tool did you use to draw? Since you said brushstroke will assume you used the paintbrush tool.
Double click on paintbrush tool for the options. Change your settings to mine, especially the bottom 2 checkmarks.

  • How do you start the thing (right out of box)

I received an iPad 2 Wi-Fi for Christmas.  There are absolutely no set-up instructions!  I tried the on-line support but have not fpound any "Initial Start-up Info"...you know, like the quick set-up cards you get with a new computer.  All I get is an iTunes symbol and a USB cord.  I've seen others post the same question, but no answer.  Can someone provide me with intial set-up info?  Thanks! - Karen8962

  • How do you get the search feature on the ipod 30gb ?

for some reason, my ipod 30gb does not have the search feature that i have seen on other ipods
    hp dv6000   Windows XP

Interesting, I don't have such a feature, and I don't think that there is one. However I could be mistaken. Was the iPod connected to something, like a dock/stereo? Software for the iPods would probably have that feature if anything. I have the latest version, and yet, no search feature. I have a 60GB video iPod.

  • How do you start the computer from a previous date.

I overloaded my desktop and now the computer is frozen. It will turn on but none of the applictions work. I can pull up preferences. I would like to start my computer with a previous date when everything is working.  Please tell me how to do that. I know how to put it in safe boot.
    Thanks,

To return your computer to a previous date you have to have been doing backups with the Application called TimeMachine.  It is turned off, by default.   TimeMachine automatically backs-up your user files to another disk or to rounter with a backup disk.  When TimeMachine is enabled, you can return to any time or date in the past by running the TimeMachine application and doing a Restore on the date and time you choose.
If you didn't have TimeMachine running or a current backup....
FYI:  Microsoft's Windows has a feature to restore it's Registry to a previous date, but that is not backup of the user files.   It allows the system to replace the Registry database back to a point where it was not corrupted.
A similar fix for the Mac OS is to reboot the computer and hold down 4 keys to reset the PRAM (that is your system Preferences).  This is a very quick fix and it should be the first thing you try.   As the system is restarting, hold down the OPTION- COMMAND-P-R keys all that the same time.
Failing that, you can boot the system up in SAFE mode, which brings up the Mac OS without enabling any of the extensions.   It requires a wired USB keyboard and mouse - won't work with a wireless keyboard or mouse. Cycle power and hold down COMMAND-S keys on reboot.  This will allow you basic access to your system and you can reomove or delete any application that you suspect is causing a problem.
If none of your applications work on the Mac, you can boot up from the gray repair disk (or boot up Disk Warrior or Tech Tools).   All of them will clean up the file systems and that is usually all you need to fix things. Insert the disk. cycle the power button (hold it for 11 seconds) and hold Command Key+C (for CD) on your keyboard while it boots back up.
The most common cause for persistient hangs is too little memory (RAM) or the harddisk is full.   The RAM problem can be minimized by not running other big applications.   If the harddisk is over 80% full, you will see significant slowing.  At 90-95% full, the system can barely run.   Run Disk Utitliy from the APPLICATIONS / UTLILITIES Folder, as The Hatter suggested (above).  Disk Repair is the option.
Note: If any recovery works with a wireless keyboard and mouse, I am not aware of that new functionality.   Also, any USB keyboard and mouse will work, even if it's from a PC.

  • After purchasing Quicktime Pro, how do you start the program?

I recently purchased Quicktime Pro and received the order acknowledgement along with the license key.  I added this as instructed, clicked "apply" and nothing changed.  I cannot find QP anywhere.  I only see the Quicktime Player that I already have.  Is there another program or file that I need to download?

I tried the links and see nothing that I haven't already read.  Everything assumes that after the product license is installed, you then have PRO.  Perhaps I should be looking for another (or new) desktop icon, in addition to Player?!?
The only other thing I have found is this tidbit...
After Installation, click on Start > Control Panel and search for QuickTime.
Open the QuickTime Control Panel and enter your QuickTime Pro registration information there.
With regards to Contacting Apple... Give AppleCare a Call... Making sure to state from the beginning it is to do with Quicktime Pro...
    That's all I can Offer...

  • How do you control the "copy" feature (blue highlight)?

When I,m using any app ( eg Facebook) text suddenly highlights and  ' copy' pops up. How do I avoid this from happening?

It happens when you hold your finger down on the screen. Practice is the best option. But if it keeps coming up just tap elsewhere on the screen and it will dissappear
    Hope this helps...

  • How do you start the Editor Application

I am experiencing difficulty in opening the Editor Application. I can only open the Tutorials. I am able to oprn the Organiser Application. So now I am wondering if I need to fill the organiser with photos before I can access the Editor Application. Any advice would be useful.
    Many thanks
    Scots

No, the organizer is totally voluntary. I'm not sure what tutorials you mean, but if you are using a mac (I'm guessing that since you say "application") and PSE 12 (also guessing since you don't say  much) it's in Applications>Adobe Photoshop 12>Support Files>Photoshop Elements Editor.

  • How do you get the bounce feature to work in email

Thanks for you time, you people are just great

Select the message, then Message menu > Bounce, or use the keyboard shortcut Shift-Command-B.
Note that sometimes bouncing mail (i.e. spam) merely confirms to the spammer that your email address is valid.
    From Help:
+Many unsolicited (“spam”) messages do not have valid return addresses, and can’t be bounced back to the original sender. If you try to bounce a message that has an invalid return address, it’s returned to you as undeliverable.+
+You can create a rule that automatically deletes messages from a specific sender. Or, use the junk mail filter to remove messages that are likely to be junk mail.+
