HT5267 What is the "extended period of time" length and does this include applets that are long processing?

Looking at the Java update support article I am trying to gather some more information as this may be causing an issue I have some users experiencing.

Anyone know what the "extended period of time" is when the Java update decides for us when it should turn off automatic applet running?  Looking forward to the hack which allows us to fix that and make the decision ourselves.

  • What is the difference between Real-Time (RR) and Time-Sharing (TT)?

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to distinguish between LMS process priorities of Real-Time Vs Time sharing and was not able to find any good document explaining me the difference between them. May be one of you Gurus can explain the difference between TT and RR? Any metalink doc id or any url on this issue will be appreciated.

Hi, Time Sharing scheduling is based on credits that are allocated to the process while creation and as long as process keep consuming the OS resources (CPU etc), its priority keeps on changing dynamically (Because process has lost credits) where as processes with Real Time Scheduling are given priority over other processes configured with Time Sharing (even kernel resources).
In simple terms, if LMS is configured with Time Sharing scheduling on a very busy Oracle RAC system, LMS process may contend for the CPU resources, which may cause performance bottleneck in cluster environment.
In Oracle Real Applicaiton Cluster, various organizations has gained performance benefits of setting few Oracle processes such as LMS with Real Time scheduling.

  • What is the best product to retrieve deleted text messages from someones phone that are a month old

What is the best product to use to retrieve deleted text messages from someones phone a month ago?

The only way to retrieve a deleted text message would be to restore a backup created after the message was sent but prior to the message being deleted.
There may be programs that can extract this information directly from the backup files themselves, google for possible solutions.

  • What is the difference between "deauthorize audible account" and "deauthorize this computer"/

Does anyone have a simple explanation for the difference between the "deauthorize audible account" and "deauthorize this computer" that are listed on iTunes drop down menus?  The first is found under the "Advanced" drop down and the second is found under the "Store" drop down.  Thanks.

Authorised means iTunes will be allowed to play purschased music bought from the apple ID you are logged into. You are allowed up to 5 machines that can play your purchases.
    De-authorised means you cannot.

Firstly, you are not in MacBook Pro forum, so you need to get your bearings.

What is the difference between HTTPS URL connection and SSLSocket connection

The difference is that they are different protocols, or rather one protocol layered over the other. If you're within a LAN you will use SSL, if it's a Web service you will use HTTPS.

  • Issues with Shared Variables in Systems Running for Extended Periods of Time

I am designing a large SCADA system using LabVIEW DSC and cRIOs. My plan is to use shared variables to communicate the majority of the information across my network (much like "tags" in a normal SCADA system).
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced issues (connection failures, etc...) with shared variables running on systems for months (both real-time and windows based PCs) without the cRIO or PC being restarted/redeploying the variables. What is the stability of the Shared Variable Engine over extended periods of time?
    Thank you for the input.

I have a system with 2 cRIO's each with Ethercat extension chassis.  Each cRIO hosts ~100 NSV's and is running the scan engine at 40 Hz.
Each cRIO is coupled to a HMI that has front panel control bindings to NSV's hosted on the cRIO as well as a windows hosted mirror library (used for citadel db logging) that is also bound to the cRIO NSV library.  The cRIO's have monay months of contiguous run time without reboot and I closely monitor cpu and memory usage and also rt performance metrics and will log faults if there are any such events.  I also use NSV's for messaging from the HMI to the cRIO for such things as setting zero offset values and deploying configuration parameters.  My overall findings are that the SV engine and the PSP are stable and efficient (especially NSV<->NSV and NSV<->HMI binding)

  • When talking for extended periods of time, will plugging in my phone extend battery life?

When talking for extended periods of time, will plugging in my phone extend battery life?

If you mean can you talk longer without running out of battery, yes, it will probably last longer.
If you mean will it have an effect on the long-term life expectancy of your battery, I don't know.

  • What is the default lKE keepalive time in cisco ASA

Cisco says that by default IKE keepalive time is enabled in Cisco ASA. So what is the default lKE keepalive time in cisco ASA.

    Hi Bro
Yes, you’re correct. Lifetime is a period when a VPN gateway rekeys just before the time expires. During the typical life of the IKE Security Association (SA), packets are only exchanged over this SA when an IPSec quick mode (QM) negotiation is required at the expiration of the IPSec SAs. The default lifetime of an IKE SA is 24 hours and that of an IPSec SA is one hour. Hence, if there’s no interesting network traffic that flows through the VPN tunnel for quite a while but the lifetime period is still valid, the VPN tunnel would not go down.
However, there is no standards-based mechanism for either types of SA to detect the loss of a VPN peer, except when the QM negotiation fails. Therefore, by implementing a keepalive feature over the IKE SA, Cisco has provided a simple and non-intrusive mechanism for detecting loss of connectivity between two IPSec peers. The keepalive packets are sent every 10 seconds by default. Once three packets are missed, an IPSec termination point concludes that it has lost connectivity with its peer.

  • What is the minimum sign up time I can have £10 Everything Pack?

What is the minimum sign up time I can have £10 Everything Pack. I am only going to be in the UK for less than 1 month and can find no informationon how to prevent nonthly deductions continuing. I know I can  not add credit with a non UK credit card but can I open an account from Australia without a UK credit card? And If it can be done how do i do it? Can I get the SIM card sent to Chepstow by Friday 7th August?

Thanks for you very quick reply. Here is my full problem. I want to get a £10 Everything Pack including new SIM card (although another page seems to say £12.99 or something similar) . I am in Australia about to walk for three weeks in the UK. I arrive in Bristol on Saturday afternoon and go straight to our B&B in Chepstow. With a quick internet search I can find no EE dealer in Chepstow. Through your website I was hoping to order an EE SIM and have it delivered to the B&B for me to collect by 7th August. However my identification is needed. Can I email my photocopied ID (passport or driver’s licence) to EE and have someone sign for the SIM at the B&B? Also, can I start an account by phone as I only have an Australian credit card? I do not anticipate needing to top up the account.
I can find no email contact on your website for such direct enquiries.
Alternatively, can I get an EE card somewhere in Bristol on a Saturday afternoon? If so, where?
