HT5278 I've tried updating the latest version for my iPod touch & keep getting error -37
Please can anyone help, I get half way through the download on my Pc & it just comes up with error 37. It does say I can continue but will loose all the data on my iPod??
Did you check your security software settings? iTunes has to be able to contact Apple during the update process:
Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 37
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

How did it get on your ipod in the first place if not from your comptuer?
Everything on your ipod should be on your computer and you should be syncing regularly. -
Quite frequently I'm keep getting the error like "Script is not responding....I dont have any Add-ons with my FireFox. After upgrade to the latest version 26.0 I'm keep getting Script error "chrome://global/content/binding/popup.xml:580" Stop or Continue Script.

The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. in that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Trying to restore 8 gig iPod Touch, keep getting error 1621
i recently updated my ipod touch 8 gig to the latest software (4, I believe). however, it caused my ipod to crash and i lost my backup. i decided to restore to factory settings. however, now when i plug my ipod touch into itunes, it starts the restore process and gets through the extracting software part, but then gives me an error message: "the ipod software update server could not be contacted. an unknown error occurred (1621)." this keeps happening. i tried connecting through wireless and through ethernet, but i keep getting the same message. i have a connection, and am able to access the itunes store, but can't restore my ipod. right now all i have is the silver apple logo w/ the status bar as if it's starting, but that's it.
has anyone encountered this problem and if so, any advice/help they can offer?
thanks.my post will offer little help, i know, but i thought i'd put it out there. restoring my itouch on my pc was not working after many attempts and much online researching. ultimately, i took it back to the apple store and they restored it there. when i brought it home, my problems were not solved-- i simply inherited a new set of them. i have yet to try the restore on my macbook, but i think i'll hold off on the upgrade for as long as i can. doesnt sound like a good deal.

I updated 2 days ago with firefox I think 5.0. When I first go onto my home page, Firefox pops on with a message to update to 3.6.18.
Hi Trancer, I think you have at least 3 different issues going on here.
(1) I will leave the mobile issue for someone more familiar with how update prompts work.
(2) Regarding Taleo, there was a problem when Firefox 19 was released, and that was fixed by the site. I haven't heard of any problems in Firefox 26. Perhaps there is a new issue in Aurora? It is a test version and will have more bugs than regular releases. Why are you running Aurora -- to test the "Metro" style interface for Windows 8?
(3) Regarding Shockwave Flash crashes, try disabling the protected mode feature of the Flash Player plugin. The following pages provide information on how to disable the feature.

That takes effect after Flash is completely unloaded; you might need to exit and restart Firefox. -

Why does it say that?
Because you really have a 2G iPOd. Those can only go to 4.2.1. If yours is an 8 or 16 GB one it is an 2G since Apple only made 32 and 64 GB 3G iPOds. A 32 GB one can be either. To identify yours:

I have exactly the same problem and my Zone Alarm Security software is causing the problem when I try to open Firefox, however this did not happen in any previous versions of Firefox I have had, including version 6.0.0

When synching by 4th gen ipod touch it skips the first step - backup-, does steps 2 through 5, then I get a message the ipod could not be backed up because a session could not be started with the ipod. How do I fix this? Do I have to restore my ipod? Will all my apps be erased?
You have to have an internet connection, either wireless or through a computer with iTunes. When you choose Software Update you can only update to the latest version for your iPod Touch, iOS 6.1.6

Every time I try and update my software version for my iPod touch from version 4.2.1 to version 4.3.5 I get within .5 MB (409.5 of 409.6MB) to the end and an error pops up telling me that my network connection has timed out so that the update could not be completed. I start the nursing program next week and need to download books onto my iPod, but it will not let me download the updated versions until my software is updated. I have tried restoring my iPod but when I restore it it says I have to download new software at the same time, therefore I can't even restore it. I just tried resetting my iPod and erasing all data as well as uninstalling iTunes and downloading it again and it still wont work. What do I do? I need to update it so it is ready for school in a week. Any advice? I have tried calling but as I understand I would have to pay for anyone to help me and I really don't want to do that until I have to.
Hi Jen. My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse. Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too. Now to the problem at hand. I have the same problem. I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade. Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade. But I'm sure other factors are involved. Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem: What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it. Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade. Hope this works. Charlie
