How do I delete FontForge icon from my dock?

If it's a running application, control-click it and choose Quit. If it remains in the Dock or that isn't applicable, drag it out.

How do I delete duplicate icons from the dock of an Imac 8.1?

No dragging to trash doesn't work. Just keep dragging them off. If they are stacked, which shouldn't happen, then when you delete one the other is still there.
Just how did you get duplicates? Did you put them there? If not then you have other problems and I'm not sure how to correct it.

  • I have an alias of one of my external hard drives in my trash. When I click on "show original" all my external H D 's and my Mac hard drive show up. How do I delete this icon from the trash without loosing all my files?

I have an alias of one of my external hard drives in my trash. When I tried to delete it, it showed that I was deleting 80,000 files and counting. I stopped the delete process and when I clicked on "show original" all my external H.D.'s and my Mac hard drive show up. How do I delete this alias from the trash without loosing all my files? When I tried to drag it back to the desk top, it just made a duplicate and remained in the trash. When I turned off the external H.D., the trash was then empty. Tried rebooting the computer and then turning the external hard drive back on and the alias shows up in the trash again. Much help appreciated.

In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to "/volumes". (no quotes)
Volumes is where an alias to your hard drive ("/" at boot) is placed at startup, and where all the "mount points" for auxiliary drives are created for you to access them. This folder is normally hidden from view.
Drives with an extra 1 on the end have a side-effect of mounting a drive with the same name as the system already think exists. Try trashing the duplicates with a 1 or 2 if there are no real files in them, and reboot.
    If it does contain data...

  • How can I delete Duplicated icon from the dashboar

Please can someone help me : How do I  delete duplicated icon from dashboard, like the  Safari Icon and System Preference, and remain witht only one of each, that keeps working?  Thank you

Well, Aleksdev and Paul_31, you helped me a lot, , thank you so much.
    Let me tell what worked.
I went to the dock and deleted the good Safari and System icons, then I draged the ones on the dashboard to the trash.
Then I restarted,  and they were no more either on the dock nor on dashboard.
To put the safari icon back to the dock, I had to go Applications and drag the Safari Icon back to the dock. It worked, but with the icon for System Preferences, it did nit work this way.
But never mind the important is that Safari icon stays always at the dock .
So, one more time, guys thank you so much for the help.
Maybe I'll be asking some more questions in the future, if you don't mind. I'm not an I-MAC specialist. I'm new on Apple world.
    Best regards!

  • How do I delete dashlane icon from Mavericks toolbar

How do I delete dashlane icon from Mavericks toolbar?  This app is redundant and not necessary in Mavericks.  I have uninstalled but I cannot drag the icon off the toolbar.

I am sorry CT, it is the menu bar and on the right side at the top...
Below is one of the suggestion I have found, but it doesn't work.
OS X Mavericks: What’s in the menu bar?
The right end of the menu bar contains “status menus,” which are represented by icons.
These menus show the status of your Mac or give you quick access to certain features—for example, you can quickly turn on Wi-Fi, turn off Bluetooth, or mute your computer’s volume.
You can add some icons to the right end of the menu bar. For example, you can show a volume slider in the menu bar by selecting a checkbox in the Sound pane of System Preferences. You can also add a status icon for some apps to the menu bar when you install the app.
To rearrange the status menu icons, hold down the Command (⌘) key while dragging the icons. To remove an icon from the menu bar, hold down the Command key and drag the icon out of the menu bar.

You will need to restore your phone as a new one using the itunes on your computer.  This WILL erase everything on the phone but it will let you change the name of the phone and then you can add content to it.

How do I delete an Icon from my desktop from Print Shop? It has the name: rTempFile4.

    Open iTunes on your iMac.
In the lefthand column of the iTunes window that opens, under Library, click on Apps.  A window will open that will show all the Apps you've downloaded.  If you downloaded the App via the iPad, you will have needed to sync the iPad and the iMac previously for the App to be listed. (I think)
Click on the App you want to delete, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.  A window will open asking you to confirm that you want to delete the app.  Click the confirm button.
    Good luck.

  • How do I remove an icon from the dock of an iMac 10.9.5.?  Dragging doesn't work although I have tried a number of different places.  I recall right clicking used to give me a remove option.

How do I remove an icon from the dock of an iMac Maverick, 10.9.5?  I've tried dragging different places: desktop, finder list etc.  No luck.

Drag up towards the centre of the screen & hold for a second or so. The icon will have the 'smoke cloud' appear, let go & it will be removed.
There should also be a 'Remove from Dock' option in the popup menu. It is in the 'Options' section . ctrl+click will 'right click' if right clicking is disabled.
If this is not possible the Dock is locked (this may happen on a 'Managed Mac' normally setup by a company or school etc). See your tech support in this case.

  • How do we delete an icon from the front of the pod touch

I have icons filled on my iPOD touch and want to delete a couple of them How do I do this

You do realize that you have multiple screens on which to place apps (along with their icons) don't you? To do so, touch & hold an icon until they all start to wiggle. You can then touch and drag the icon/app that you want to move to the right edge of the screen. The screen will slide to a new empty screen which you can now release/drop the icon onto. To simply delete the icon/app, touch & hold the icons until they wiggle, then click the x on the desired icon/app to delete it. To return the touch to standard operation, press the home button.

  • I have sent a file to the trash bin. When I come to empty the trash bin everything goes out except this one particular file and I get a note saying the file is 'in use' but it is not. How can I delete this file from trash?

I have a Macbook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.2. I have sent a work file to the trash bin along with many other files. When I empty the trash this one particular file remains and I get a message that this file is still in use. I have tried returning the file to my documents, opening it, closing it and then sending it to trash and again I try to empty trash but the same message comes up - Q - How can I trash this file permanently?

First just try logging out and back in.  Whatever is holding on to it may not be running after the logout thus freeing it so you can trash it after logging back in.
You might also try Trash It!

  • HOW CAN I DELETE AN ICON FROM MY HOME SCREEN?

    Hello,
I added a page to my home screen. I can not remove it. If you can help, I will appreciate it.
    Many thanks,

For more assistance, you might find the iPad User Guide helpful (and I don't mean this as a criticism of your question; many people aren't aware that the User Guide exists).

  • HT1620 I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad.  It takes between 6-8 hours to download and after about 4-5 hours it send me an error message and cannot download. How can I delete this downloa? it will not let me download any apps

I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad.  After its been downloading for about 4 hours, I receive a message that there is an error and cannot download.  How can I delete this download from my settings?  I tried downloading other apps, but it will not let me unless I download iOS 6.1

What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • How Can I Remove the Finder Icon From the Dock?

Hi! Can someone tell me how to remove the Finder icon from the dock? I don't even care if Finder quits. I just want it removed from the dock. I really don't care if I can't get to my files. Please help.

Start by going to your core services, (/system/library/coreservices). You can do this by pressing Shift+Cmd+G and then paste (/system/library/coreservices), without parentheses.
After doing this, find Dock.app, right click, show package contents. This doesn't contain the icons on your dock, just finder and trash.
After that, move all finder services to the desktop, and then erase them from the core services folder. At this point it will prompt you to put in your password, do so.
Next you'll want to open terminal and type 'killall dock' or, you could restart your computer.
This should remove the finder icon from your dock, while still giving you access to it from your desktop.
    Hope this helps!
