HT5306 Does Apple even realize this 3.6 update has completely screwed up iChat?

Does Apple even realize this 3.6 update has completely screwed up iChat and the ability to use the screen share feature????
After 40+ hours of trying to solve the problem, I finally confirmed 100% that this update is the issue, and fixed it by restoring to 3.5.3.
Just wondering why Apple has no info on this after the 20+ tech calls we made over past weeks fell on deaf ears, trying to blame our ISP.\...
Here's the ongoing thread about the issue:

  • Does Apple even care?

Why doesn't anyone at Apple ever respond with answers to problems posted on these discussions? I have seen many, many threads by people who are having all kinds of problems with Apple hardware and software, but there's nobody at Apple who seems to care. The problems go unanswered.
This seems to be the norm, so my question is, does Apple even care? Doesn't Apple ever fix problems with products they've already sold? When you have a discussion thread, where ALL of the posters are angry about a lack of support for a particular problem, it seems to me someone at Apple should answer them.
Case in point: All kinds of problems with iTunes/iPod software. Is there any new software release coming, are you working on those problems voiced in the discussion threads...? Why don't we get any answers from someone at Apple?

  • What type of adapter/ converter would I purchase from Apple if traveling to France? Does Apple even offer one?

What type of adapter/ converter would I purchase from Apple if traveling to France? Does Apple even offer one?

The power supplies used by Apple can be used with any line voltage between 100 and 240 volts so you done need any changes there.
What you will need is pin adapters because the European socket require different shaped pins. You can get the pins adapters at any hardware store quite inexpensively.

My iphone plus is bending, what does Apple offer regarding this issue?
I am trying to get to contact with Apple Customer Care, but not clear to me how to do it beside this channel of communication. I bought the phone from kosovar carrier which is under Slovenian ownership. This means that the original warranty comes from Slovenia, bit complicated but still I would like to get an urgent answer how to proceed with this issue, thanks

Maybe i should have only asked if anyone is aware on apple's policy
regarding bending. I took the point that this seems not a proper forum to
pose Q's to apple thanks to both

You have activated rotation lock. Check the little switch near the volume control.

Your music will only be where you put it. It does not magically appear in other places.  Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some coutries:

  • Wife's iPhone keeps shutting off randomly and does it even when on calls, restarts and has a dark line in center of the screen then the apple logo. At times it does it several times or won't power up, and the iPhone4 is only five months old. What do we do

Have an iPhone 4 that is now shutting off randomly including during calls. The iPhone is roughly about five months old. When the iPhone shuts down and tries to restart it usually take two or three times before it stays on, but when it does it sometimes has a dark line down the center and shuts off. Not very happy about the iPhone doing this. The store we had purchased the iPhone 4 from suggested that we contact Apple to see about a replacement, or send it away for service. As you can tell we are not happy at this point since the iPhone is crucial part of our day for work and family. What should we do at this point?

    Thanks for the suggestions!
Except I tried all those before I even made this topic lol, but thanks!
I Already popped out the Sim Card & let my phone sit without it for a few minutes then put it back in. Sometimes it will work again & it will say it recognizes the SIM Card but more times then not it still says it cant recognize it! So I have to take it out & reinsert it multiple times.
& I have done a complete restore 2 times & a back up restore 3 times. Nothing seems to be working.
I am planning on going to the Apple Store this week, wish me luck!
But keep the suggestions coming if you have any, I'd appreciate it!

  • Does Apple even intend to fix Logic 8?

    Hi!
I was really hoping to leave Pro Tools behind and enjoy Logic. But, Logic 8 is broken on such a basic level, and has so many bugs it makes it really hard to stick with it, and not break something every time I try to use it. Does Apple plan to fix these things? Are they even aware of them? If the beta team reported them, did Apple tell them something like, "Don't worry, most people are simply going to use Apple Loops in 4/4 time, so those things are fine being broken!"
Grid is broken if you use ANY time sig other than 4/4. Do not even think of using more than one time sig, cause then it gets worse. Simple: new song, and make a meter change to 3/4. Now try to place stuff on a Bar. Set Grid to Bar, Absolute. Yeah, fun huh? Imagine if you have music with multiple tempos and meters. Imagine you might want to move notes/events to align at a Grid line.
Want a count-in? Good luck! Unless I have missed something simple, setting Logic to Count-in instead will do a pre-roll EVERY time instead. OK, if you have it at the very beginning of a song, it will "count-in" the proper amount (by pre-roll'ing before start).
Highlight a MIDI region on a track, open Piano Roll (double click). Hold shift and click a region further down the same track. Now move the playhead down to where the second region is. Piano Roll STILL shows stuff from first region, even though the timeline reflects proper playhead position and ruler time, but ALL contents are displayed.
I could go on for about an hour, or for pages, with all the basic functionality bugs. I am wondering if Apple is aware of these things (yes, I report my bug findings), and if they consider them to be "critical"? I am completely dumbfounded at how they released Logic 8 with the bugs present...

    hi nikki-k,
i have a much more basic machine than you, and none of what you are describing happens.
It is not the machine power, it is basic flaws that are not DSP dependent.
    sure there are problems.
eg: just done a song with mixed meters, using beat detection to get it to grid.
no worries. only error was pilot error. mine.
i have many song in mixed meter, with tempo changes all over the shop.
    all respond as normal.
    my count-in works as expected.
    Please try this?
Create a new song, and then make a meter change anywhere to 3/4 time. Create a region on a track with start point on the bar. Put Logic into Absolute, Bar grid mode. Grab region, and try to move it one measure forward using the mouse.
No one else can make this work properly in Logic 8. Basically, Logic's internals are working as if the grid were still set with Bars on every 4th beat. So, if the region is on the first bar of 3/4 time, you would need to try and move it to an interval of coincident 3/4->4/4 bars (every twelfth beat in this case).
By switching to division mode, it can be relatively painless. But, I have had times when I work with notes in the Piano Roll and they will NOT snap to a bar or beat in Absolute mode no matter what I do. Instead, I have been using the Event Float and grabbing a value with the mouse or enter manually...which is a PITA.
i HAVE noticed that in the PR the position after an edit will change back to the beginning of the trk.
apple are only aware of the money they make.
they and emagic released heaps of stuff with bugs present, so what's new.
look, if you really want to get up apples nose, get a lawyer to send them a letter.
i'll bet you're one of thousands.....
    i wouldn't bother.
on the whole, logic 8 works about as good as lp7, lp6, lp5, etc.
    DR9.
Isolated experiences of little things is fine. Coming from PT, it can be irritating, but that is simply because I have years and years of extensive PT experience (among credits, I have done tech work for Thomson Publishing for PT material). It is when composing, using grid based editing as I work/record, and do MIDI at the same time in the Piano Roll that it can get rough. Granted, much of it is me getting used to Logic, and adapting from speaking PT to speaking Logic, especially key commands. I am even beginning work on an AppleScript project for Pro Tools, and that will overflow into a Logic project for creating macros and stuff. Time will heal much, but right now, the basic underpinnings being broken like this hurts enough to make it beyond frustrating.
There are little things that happen, and I know it is not pilot error. But, most are flukes with no reproducibility or recipe I can find. I see others report the same things, but they also lack the ability to provide a definite recipe. Yet.
Logic is a very cool app. Definitely a learning curve to reap the benefits of the treasure that lays right there at your fingertips. And to be able to fire up my MacBook Pro at the initial onset of inspiration, and simply use the built-in audio to sketch an idea quickly...no extra hardware, fast and easy...gotta love it! I just wish I could place the same faith, or close to it, in Apple/Emagic that I have in Digi (love/hate relationship that that is..lol...)

  • Does Apple again lock this phone?

I live in India. Some days ago my younger brother purchased an i phone 4 (MC603B/A- 16GB Black) from one of his friend who lives in UK. His cellphone operatorwas Tmobile.Initially he said this phone is factory unlocked, later my brothercame to know through other friend that its not factory unlocked. Before sellercoming to India he unlocked this phone through Tmobile (by providing a fee totmobile and giving restore in itunes according to tmobile suggestion). Socurrently he doesnot face any problem using any local sim. Later on he came toknow that after returing to UK his friend claim to insurance that he losthis iphone in India and he already got a new one from insurance. My brother's friend cheated with him. Now my question is that, does apple again lock his phone if he update his current ios?
Pleaseadvise? you can also mail me to [email protected]

Your brother's friend has committed insurance fraud, and technically, the insurance company owns this phone. As to the phone being re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to, that won't happen, but you need to address the fact that this phone is now "stolen property".

  • If My Headphones broke does apple pay for this for me?

I My Headphone that came w/ my iPod broke and it has only been 4 mounths does apple pay for them b/c the broke... or do i just have to buy a new set?

In the future, you'll want to post in one of the iPod forums.
If you live near an Apple Store, stop in and you should get a new pair of headphones.
Otherwise, go here: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod and fill out a request for a new pair.

  • How do I prevent Firefox from installing a new version when I click on the "Check for New Version" button? And why does it even do this?

I check for updates manually and this is frustrating because I can't stop it once it starts. There is no "Cancel" button or anything that will stop the update.
"Check for updates" does not mean "Install updates"

OK, I guess that's what I'll do. Thanks.
I do have to say it is kind of ridiculous for them to remove the "There is an update. Do you want to install it?" that every other application uses. Even FF plug-ins use one. Checking for an update should not automatically install it.
That is bad enough, but removing the "Cancel" button during the update download is one for the ages. Whatever happened to "user-friendly"? I guess they know what we need better than we do.

  • Keys getting dirty look--paint wearing off!  What does Apple do for this?

This is dismaying. I received a brand new MacBook Pro (early 2008 model) from Apple only a few months ago and the silver paint on several keys is already wearing off! They're getting that dirty look. See http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=451259
I went through something similar with an old iBook G4... On those, the keys' lettering wore off. Apple service was responsive for sure, although it was pretty silly that they kept sending me replacement keyboards Instead of individual keys or decals. After pushing by me, they even sprung for one of those iSkin plasticky keyboard covers (which turned out it interferes with typing and some say can cause a heat problem). Eventually, they sent me a 4th keyboard that didn't wear out at all. So, it seems that they fixed that issue.
Has Apple solved this paint wearing problem for the MBP's? Do I just go the Apple Care route--again-- and do they send out an entire keyboard? What have other people experience and done?
In this case, obviously, they can't send decals as this keyboard is the backlit (underlit) kind!

This is a known issue with the Early 2008 MBP (as well as earlier models). It has nothing to do with dirty hands, or lotions or hands or anything else. Just from plain old use, it wears down the paint on the keys.
The MBP keyboard keys are no longer removable one by one on that model and onward -- you have to bring your MBP into an Apple Store (or call Apple Care) - they will take it in, change it out for a new keyboard (its under warranty for one year, and if you have Apple Care for two additional years). If you are beyond the one year warranty and did not purchase Apple Care, then you will have to pay to have it replaced (probably a couple hundred dollars plus shipping).
The turnaround for something like that is usually about a week if you have to send it in, and a day if you go to the Apple Store. The Apple Store, after deeming it a repair issue, will order the keyboard. Then they will call you to bring in your MBP and leave it for the time it is required for them to fix it -- usually an afternoon, or overnight.
But this is a well-documented and much discussed issue over the years -- it occured to my old MBP as well. Luckily, I have three apple stores all within a half hour drive of me, so I don't worry about those sorts of things. But it's annoying if you have to send it it.

  • Iphone 4, back side shattered... does apple care cover this?

So I am wondering if apple care protection would cover the back side of my Iphone 4 being shattered. The screen and front side are fine so the phone is not hindered at all, but I would still like to get the back side of it fixed as I have this phone on contract for another year and a half. Please let me know!!!

If you previously bought AppleCare+ for it, accidental damage is covered. Regular AppleCare doesn't cover accidents.
