HT5312 Hose do I set up a rescue email though? Can it be my iCloud?

This is my question up there and I'd really like to know how to set up a rescue email because that is supposed to be how I reset my security questions. I don't remember the answers to my security questions and honestly, I don't think they were even the correct questions. So if someone could tell me how to set up a rescue email that would be very much appreciated. Also if someone could tell me if that rescue email can be my iCloud one that would be appreciated too. Thanks.

You have to a.) answer your security questions via appleid.apple.com or b) get your security questions reset first before you can add a rescue email to your acct. If you need to get them reset you will need to call apple.

How do I set up a rescue email on an already existing Apple ID

    Hey lehrke5555,
Thanks for the question, you are on the right track. The article you referenced provides steps for editing a rescue email address - you can follow the same steps to add a rescue email address.
    1. Navigate to My Apple ID using your web browser.
    2. Click "Manage your account"
    3. When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    4. Click Password & Security
    5. You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
Note: The option to send an email to reset your security questions and answers will not be available if a rescue email address is not provided. You will need to contact iTunes Store support in order to do so.
    6. After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Please note that you will need to know the answers to your security questions to setup a rescue email address. If you do not know the answers to your security questions, follow the instructions to contact iTunes Store Support.

  • HT5312 How do you set up a rescue email?

I just got a new IPhone, but before I can make purchases on it I ha r to answer my security questions, which I forgot the answers to. To reset the questions I have to get an email sent to my rescue email. But I don't have a rescue email. I already have an alternate email, but I guess it's not the same thing. So how do I set up a rescue email?

Did anyone ever answer you or did you figure this out? It's very frustrating and misleading. From what I can tell everyone is saying they're different. Also, they tell you that you set up your rescue e-mail when you create iTunes account. However, I have an old account and never set up a recue account. When I go through account on iTunes there is no prompt to add a rescue account. When I go through the manage my account via apples website page it will allow me to add an alternate e-mail which then send an email verification to the alternate asking you to verify the new account and it states that this is your primary account now for any correspondence. I know my security questions but I can't for the life of me find someone that has distinctly answered the question letting you know how to add a rescue e-mail account to an existing iTunes account.
Sorry for the long e-mail and the redundancy of the question but I've literally wasted half my day trying to get this stupid question answered and someone who will pay attention to my actual issue. Which is I need a recue account and not an alternative account. I'm actually pretty tech savvy so make fun all you want but this is very frustrating and there seems to be no one or any forum where someone actually answers the people that have bravely asked the question over and over and gotten told to go to manage my account and add an alternative account and that is not a rescue account. Please help! I'm about ready to smash my MBP over my desk!

You won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your 3 security questions, so you will need to get them reset first - see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
When you've got them reset you can then add a rescue email address as described on the page that you posted from for potential future use :
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.

  • HT5312 how do i set up a rescue email for my security questions?

i have recently forgot the answers to my security questions and there is the option to reset them with a rescue email, which i dont think i have. does anybody know how to set one up?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of doing so include going to support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.
Setting up a rescue email requires correctly answering two of the questions.

  • HT5312 I didn't set up a rescue email when I first registered my Apple ID!

When I first registered, I didn't take the initiative to add a rescue email to my Apple ID, so I currently don't have one. I forgot the answers to my security questions, and I can't reset them because I don't have a rescue email! Is there another way to reset my security questions, or perhaps add a rescue email?

Not without contacting Apple; that article provides a link to do so, or they can be contacted via phone.

Is there a way to reset security questions without having to have a rescue account if i can please send a links so i can do so

If you've forgotten more than one of the answers, you can't do this on your own and must contact Apple. Otherwise, the article you asked this question from provides the instructions to do so; it also provides a link to the iTunes Store staff should it be necessary.

  • HT5312 How do I reset my security questions and set up a rescue email?

When I go to reset my security questions, I don't get the option to send an email to my 'rescue email' or to even set up a rescue email and on the apple support page it says I should have that option.

The page says that you will get the reset option if you have rescue email address on your account, if you don't have one then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
